@hatmanhatman555 So there is no point not to dive so that you get a free kick, which almost always results in a goal? Better yet, since scores are so low in soccer, that goal is very likely the game winner? And scoring said goals increases your contract value to rediculous rates? I don't play soccer, but I'd be crazy NOT to dive under the current system. The system sucks and soccer/football follows suit because of it. If you don't dive though, my hat's off to you good sir.

You can add diving to the list of reasons why soccer has never caught on as a major professional sport in the US and Canada.

North Americans could never put up with such regular bullshit like European and South American countries do. But there are reasons why such unsportsmanlike antics continue.

One reason is that winning in soccer is more important to a region's fans than the game conduct. Furthermore, supporters relish heaping contempt at the opposing region more than their success.

somewhat true... but I think the main reason it never caught on is that the weather makes it impossible to be competitive internationally. (for Canada at least) And there is alot of diving and exagerating going on in other sports like hockey, but it mostly goes unoticed because the victim gets 2 mins in the box, as opposed to a game changing penatly shot against or expulsion.
