Wael Abbas should have included some nudity and sexxual content to his postings for them to be appreciated by youtube. Also using meta tags "related" like Ajooza police = blond butt. Alexandria police brutal beating = redhead beach nude.
how come every goverment is facist? they aren't they're capitalist's.. they don't care wether you a nazi or a commie.. or just a normal person.. they will still screw you for your money or sacrifice you for money..
I don't think you understand what the word facist or the word capitalist mean. You speak as if they're antithetical. All governments are facist to a certain degree. The word, facist comes from a Roman insignia that was carried on a standard before a praelate to signify his authority.
Facism is just the centralization of power so everyone lives in varying degrees of facism, even the Bushmen.
Well said. Do you think enough people will ask for those videos to come back though? I think the majority of people all around the world would rather see videos of skating dogs sadly enough. And you're right, youtube is not exactly a family TV channel. It shouldn't be censored except from porn and vids that promote violence not those that expose it.
Abbas' account has been restored, apparently following the growing controversy and international outcry that followed soon after YouTube's censorship. So, yes, I think enough people did ask for Abbas' videos to come back. And it worked!
I was one of the people that asked youtube to restore the account by the way. And I'm glad it worked. Maybe I undermined people's desire to make things right.
In the future we will have it so that all communication occurs through computers, so that no communication is guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution to be legal, and allowed, even if you are talking to someone in the open air face to face, in person.
(It would not surprise me if the entire world wide web is private enterprise, and owned by private hands. This would mean that no speech or writing or communication of any kind, no matter how original, is guaranteed by the first amendment or by any international rights -- like the UN's -- regarding free speech, etc.)
YouTube is not a public place, or a place where the First Amendment applies. It is a privite enterprise. That means that anything you say on YouTube goes through their private property (their servers, their computers, their web software). This is true of virtually any website that allows interactivity, leaving comments, posting stuff, etc.
YouTube is a private company and they have the right to suspend whatever they please. People do not have a right to communicate whatever they want through YouTube, because it is not their company. But since YouTube has been suspending a lot of interesting people lately (Haim ben Pesech, Frank Weltner, Wael Abbas, Mr Pregnant?, phatfffat, Goddess Glory and probably thousands of others), I'm sure they will see their popularity drop as what made this place creative declines.
What Matthew says about it being a private company is very right. Your constitutional rights to free speech do not exist in the private domain like they do in the public domain.
well in communist russia. how much free speech did people have? none unless ti was the free speech the goverment wanted to hear.. communism is responsible for 130 million death's
I don't care who was pressuring, users or Egypt. Egypt shouldn't have a say and if some precious, delicate little users can't handle aa vid showing police brutality for a good reason, not gratuitous, then maybe they should take their delicate little butt to a different channel and leave Wael Abbas alone. Youtube was wrong here, period.
why NOT show the EVIL of a country that the US sub-contracts torture to to keep at arms length the atrocities they commit where NO repercussions take place..keepin the war on terror alive..keep makin enemies..how else can the war machine survive
After all the trashy videos not worthy of being on youtube It was unbelievable to me that Wael's channel was suspended when it was/is all about exposing human atrocities.
Thank you for this video and taking a stand for Wael.
YouTube has restored Abbas' account! International outcry and surely users' emails put pressure on YouTube to restore his account and to assure him that YouTube would not remove his videos again in the future. Good work everyone who commented, and especially those of you who emailed your objections to YouTube!
what can i say the egyptian government has a very good censoring committee, oh wait let me re-phrase that Ministry of Information. what blogger need to do know, i let the world know it's not just freedom of speech, but ACADEMIC FREEDOM IS BEING BUTCHERED TOO :-(
Youtube and yahoo's explanation was "suspending his account was nothing to do with the Egyptian government but rather an internal issue". BULLSHIT!!!Yahoo has been colluding with Government for their own interests for donkeys! Yahoo is Selling out to Beaurocracy and they should be open about it and stand up for its members who are a FORCE TO BE RECKONED WITH!!!!!
Well, well, well . . . So YouTube is in the habit of caving to targeted reactionary complaint blitzes. Toadies to a corporate cause. Trench at the Corporate Mediaplex and become another of their content-slaves. What's Google new motto again? "Do No Good!" Brilliant, let's all board the fascism express. We have nothing to lose except our Constitution and Nation. Gag me with a spoon; or is that 'Google me with a spoon'?
All this means is that YouTube has more in common with America's Funniest Home Videos than with people who wish others to "Do No Evil". This is not a forum for social justice, awareness, or change. This is a distraction from the world, a place 13 year olds come to watch one another light farts. If you're looking for real content, go to the half dozen other video sites out there. This one's died the day Google purchased it.
Yeah, whatever Youtube... Do a search under Abu Graib. You will see TONS of graphic images and anti-Bush/US garbage Youtube has no problem stomaching. IF these were US police officers or (God forbid!) U.S. Soldiers doing anything half as bad as this and it would be the lead story on every liberal network 24x7.

I have wondered what would happen if say 1000 people flaged 10 videos each on one day. Or if 10.000 peole flaged 10 videos each?

Ggl should stick to search & ads. They come across as fascists when they try to run a community... IMO

They should only apply a warning before the video, informing viewers that the content is not suitable, but not remove the video.
It's a non sense. YouTube should support people suffering all over the world.
