  • yaa his beast lion hair is like 89 to like 92 or something

  • Comment removed

  • this is fucking 1991. you can see it becaus james his hair. he looks like a cowardly godlike lion here.

  • @the313v it cant be before 1986 because jason is on bass and he didnt join metallica till 1986/1987 and also james has a mustache and a black esp which he used in the enter sandman viid in 1990 so i would say somewhere between 1987 and 1990

  • @the313v cant be before 1986 because jason is on bass and jason didnt join till 1986/1987 i forget, but i recon its between 1986 and 1990 cause james has a mustache and a black esp, the one that he used in the enter sandman video in 1990

  • Can some one tell me what shirt is Kirk wearing plz

  • Comment removed

  • Man.... Jason backing vocals are.... fucking fucking great, noone can even get close to it.

  • @metallicaddicto are u forgetting cliff????

  • @LightningRider15 Its Just My Opinion, Cliff backing vocals were great, fuck yeah, but I THINKKK that Jasons vocals are better, just my opinion

  • one of me is fucking sad that i had no chance to see them at THAT time, the other half says im lucky that i can have so much more metallica albums now. :D

  • damn Lars was on fire

  • it's late 1991, not San Diego...might be New York-Uniondale, or Minneapolis, or what... Kirk didn't wear that shirt in the year 1992, i guess, only 1991! I might have this show on old vhs... i will look and say which concert that was

  • sometimes i wish lars can go back to having his full 6 tom set instead of 4 .. . this set has fucking balls, yet the new ones with only two rack toms look skimpy

  • wow this must be the San Diego '92 ! The stage looks the same ! Damn dude if u had been there, u're the luckiest guy ever !

  • Thumbs up if lars should go back to Justice Era DrumKit

  • Gotta love Jason's - BATTERY!!!!! Puts Rob's feeble effort in the shade when they perform it now!

  • ok how are they so loud with no amp :P

  • @jaketheman20 Metallica didn't need amps back in the day. they had chuck Norris to project their volume for them with constant round houses. but then later on in their career chuck left the band to promote the "total gym" around1997 thus explaining the drastic changes that metallica seemed to have gone though during this decade.

  • in this era, no one would think that that cool singer on stage, playing guitar and dressed in black would later play an acoustic guitar dressed like a cowboy and with a cowboy hat singing ''mamma said'' but thats just the way life goes and everyone changes, luckily james got back to the metal james ;)

  • \m/ >_< \m/

  • This it not old ! it's in San Diego 1992 !

BTW : great performance to the song by the greatest band in the world !!!!!!!!

  • @the313v

dude, you know that it's like 2011 or so?

  • @whaip when i say old i mean before 1986 !

  • Title should be (Live, CLASSIC)

  • @nightlydruid more like a LEGEND

  • 2000's metallica kicks ass but not like they did in the 80's i think James was in his finest moments in the 80's with those ball grabbing screams during whiplash, sanatarium and well Kill em' all - Ajfa and some of Black. lately i been hearing them and well it seems James is getting his voice in track and also. I saw a live version of Hit The Lights And i gotta say there is one moment where he lets out this scream, one i haven't heard since the 80's

  • i wasn't even born but the only album i consider "old" by Metallica is Kill 'Em All, the others don't seem "old" to me. I was born in 1996 by the way. Fuck my parents for having me born when load came out.

  • @DowntownTB13 its all about the older albums.. the black album and before. I am 20 and I noticed a change between the new metallica and the old.. and I love the old. I can't stand the new metallica

  • @sniped101 yes i know, but i like death magnetic, only one song from st. anger, every album exept for st. anger was ok or great, but yes old metallica was way different

  • Lars is a punk! metallica would not be if not for Dave writing the first album. Kirk sucks and Dave rocked on and still does!

  • @1g9a6r8y dave mustaine write 4 song four horseman jump in the fire phantom lord and metal militia just tht 4 of 10 and he was in the band for 10 month ....... oh yeah i bet you play better than kirk right well you suck

  • wow i can't hear the best but it's awesome

  • LOL this isnt old its from like 1992

  • @KvSwooo now is 2010...

  • @KvSwooo lol to most of the kids on here 1992 is old....

heck most of em were not even alive in 1992

  • @jrhoden im 93 :(

  • Comment removed

  • When was this filmed, which show? Thx!

  • Old? old is PRE Black album days, hahaha. The "new" Metallica began with the Black album

  • Man, I was born year before S & M

  • @Asphyxia98 god i feel old i was 29 when S&M came out

  • It isnt really catagorized as old, since Master of Puppets saw it come out in 1985-86, and this looks about 1989 - 1992

  • jailabait cuando seas mejor que lars en la bateria (osea nunca) di algo de els mientras no por que gracias a el se iso metallica el y james

fuck i would like to be there in the old days but i born 1 year before the made load

  • everyone is better in old days omg...than ur young....

  • heavy

  • Damn they were alot better then, Im not saying they're not good now Im just saying this is the originals time..... so It's alot better, plus the guys voice for this song was a bit better here

  • Battery is such an awesome song, It's a lot better with s&m though imo. metallica was a lot cooler back then.

  • Metallica isn't dead, but definitly where on their best in the old days

  • @Eirik27194 were*

  • @Eirik27194 Well...Check out the Mexico City 2009 Concert.

  • @Eirik27194 there not even close to dead .......

  • its from live sh*t binge and purge

  • @ral008

em.. no but it's on that same year, but the live shit one from seattle is way different 8and better IMO) still amazing song, metallica kicks ass

  • Fuck that they were the shit for a long time

  • Awesome performance. Kirk's solo's rock, James vocal is still awesome, and Lars again.. doing the dirty job.

  • this is from the black album era

  • Fuck yeah!

  • i lie metakkica bur they never put any emphesis on lars... i mean he put the metal in metallica

  • jason kinda buzz-kills hames wgere they scream battery

  • Esta es la gira de promoción del Album Negro. xD

  • james said he blew his voice during the recording of TBA, then why the fuck he can sing with such power this songs?? this is TBA tour, i guess 1992-1993...

drinking cold beers during the shows is the fucking truth...

  • He blew his voice during the tour not the actual recording of the album.

  • dont think so, that's what he want us to believe, man? then why he sing perfect this shows?

  • if you knew anything about james, he blew his voice out during the recording of the black album, it was on So What!, he had to go to a synagogue to learn how to sing properly

  • hey man please ...dont talk about cliff.... im gonna cry..u little bastard ..he's still dead in this concert haha

  • thats jason

  • Thats not cliff retard!

  • this is Black Album Tour, the snake pit stage.

  • this is fuking metallica :D Old school!

  • in Live Shit?

  • Justice for All. James mustache, Cliff is death.

  • aej ?

  • not really that old looks like black album era

  • Wow, is he really using to pedals?, it sounds like there is only one pedal.

  • this is epic O.O

  • it sounds like las has triggers

  • no it doesn't. His main hits are powerful, but you can clearly hear the weaker hits in between.

  • hmmm... megadeth's loved to death does that. don't take that the wrong way, i'm not a megadeth fanboy.

  • nice argument....

  • Lmao the transitions, and the metal part are epic.

  • crazy talk ur crazy

  • That was back when Lars drum kit still had balls

  • Deffinetly, now lars can barely keep up but hey age doesnt seem to slow them down at least not yet...

  • i still think they have 2 or 3 albums left in them

  • i really hope so i love Metallica DeathMagnetic it was good All Nightmare Long was FANTASTIC but it seemed that Lars didnt like it as much i truely believe he hated the album idk why but i thing the songs etc. but yea James and im assuming Kirk are all for it but Lars man idk he seems strange at the moment i mean

  • Yeah I agree, I think Lars is getting discouraged with all the criticism he's been getting lately.

  • of course they do there only in there early 40's. look at the stones there in there 60's and there still rockin. even look at les paul he was playing weekly before he past away(may he rock in peace)

  • @rocafella142 agreed, the drum kit he now uses, is shit! :(

  • @rocafella142 Hehehe... THAT'S THE BEST DESCRIPTION I'VE EVER READ ABOUT LARS OLD DAYS... Unfortunately seems lars reachs his days of an old man, and his 'balls' doesn't work (I mean the drum kit, ehehehe)

  • @rocafella142 Listening to 'em live, the new one breaks balls.

  • @rocafella142 or whats left of them nowdays...

  • It's in the tour of the Black Album !!

  • Look, I'm not bothered. You obviously love picking stupid arguments with random people for no apparent reason. I deal with people like you all the time, so if you think I'm offended or annoyed in any way, think again. I'm not going to dignify you with another answer, so don't bother replying.

  • Whatever. You either enjoy being a dick or you don't appreciate the fact that all I said was that I like Jason's backing vocals. Either way, I don't give a fuck.

  • Right, brilliant. How long'd it take you to come up with that?

    Fuck off.

  • classssic

  • what year is this?

  • :D beast is the best word for him! I am allways out of the drums. The album and justice for all is based on it. I love the old albums!!! Fast and loud!!!

  • This is the time when Metallica had long hairs and was fucking crazy, James vocals were awesome and Jason was a f*cking beast on stage !

  • i love this song

  • is the mexico concert (one of the nights at least) if you didnt know search for battery live mmexico 1993 and youll find it in video

  • I love Jason's backing vocals on this song. Gives me the chills every time I hear "Battery!"

  • that was awsome!

  • lol how does he palm mute with his guitar so low?

  • practice. see how his guitar is angled forward? this right hand keeps constant pressure on it. its just something to get used to.

  • He is James Hetfield thats how!

  • This is the real sound of metal guitar! No more no less!

  • yeah this isnt from Damaged Tour

    probally '91 or '92

  • yeah to se for the drums

  • no this is not san diego.

  • this is in san diego

  • this is not san diego, although its the same stage setup..

  • yeah it´s the "snakepit stage " used on the Guns N´Roses/Metallica stadium tour.

  • James's voice was best during the Damaged Justice tour, no questions. Also his explorer may just be solid black but its intense and I want one.

  • Hot Damn..I think Newsted has the best damn vocals in Metal Music. Perfect balance between aggression and articulation. Just enough growl.

  • BATTERY IS HERE TO STAY!!

  • FUCK

Old Metallica stuff is the absolute NUMBER ONE THING IN METAL!!!!!!!!

  • what i would give to have that white tama kit.......you dont even know

  • Is that Cliff or Jason?

  • It's Jason - cliff died in 1986, and this is off the "Binge and Purge" tour in 1991 or 1992

  • awesome fucking insaine

  • COOL

  • o cuando eran jovenes y bellos!!!

  • sos mujer no¿

    si eres hombre... mm

  • siiii por??

  • james was great too...

  • thats the shit

  • lars was good as this time..

  • I think Jason is at least a better vocalist than Cliff. =]

  • Cliff was still one of the best bassists out there.

  • yep

  • hail to jason!!!!

  • jason, jason ,jason ...who gives a shit already...Cliff DIED dude..thats it man... I loved him as much as anybody this sounds the way battery should sound ORCHESTRALESS

  • i agree

  • are you talking about Jason Newsted?

  • BINGO!!!

  • He is NOT a fag.

  • Yeah, youre right, check the writing credits in Load. he made EVERYTHING (irony)

  • lol, i know, i just checked the list of songs, and jason didnt write ONE song

  • Cuando eran hombres!!!

  • god damn I LOVE METALLICA

  • duuuuuuuuude............. i just realized i can sing along to all their songs!!! can't beleive i memorized all that!! if only i was that good at remembering at school...

  • sorry i ment to mark as good. that was funny!

  • the quality of this video is crap...but metallica still owns!

  • yeah so agree but its cool we can see them like this live on youtube

  • Motherfucking powerhouse of fuckin' energy!

  • FUCKING BATTERY!!!

  • i have this same song,live.

  • Metallica!!!

  • Old? This is in 1992-93, after James got burned in the pyro accident in early 92. You can tell by his hair. And yeah James didnt use the black ESP's until the black album.

+ they are using one of those wierd stages in the middle of the arena/area.

  • about the ESP's... James did use a black ESP in the mighty Live Shit: Seattle '89

  • Ah my bad :P

  • this is not old man... its after the black album so its in the early 90's i think

  • 1989 pullman I believe.

  • yea probly early 90's cause he didnt start using the black ESP untill black album

  • He played a black esp in seatle '89. On this song in fact.

  • oh yeah. i just searched in the seattle video and saw it. it had a sticker saying like "fuk em up" or something like that

  • SO MOTHERFUCKING AWESOME!

  • i think you are a motherfucking faggot.

this band created a monster ! the new record is totally kick ass and you want to tell that these guys are fags?

you have no idea about music!

  • justice tour was bad ass man!!!! saw it here in atlanta.
