I lived in some apts on Speedway Blvd, near the intersections of Alvernon and Swan. I had a great view of Mt. Lemmon and come every monsoon season, I couldn't see the mountain because of the heavy rains! And it smelled great afterwards! I miss it sooo much!!
For people in arizona down in phoenix and tucson they freak out over rain because they never have rain, I lived in phoenix and a person was it rained hard last night, I was like hard rain? That was just a mist...If a storm like back east rolled over tucson or phoenix the national guard would have to come. They would think the world was gonna come to an end....
You guys are all right. Poeple can't drive for crap in the rain here. they back traffic up and bring it down to a 10 mph crawl.
Whats funny is people out here tend to roll their windows *DOWN* when its raining and roll them up when its stops!!!
I remember a couple years ago we got a couple inches of snow on the streets over night and the whole town was a virtual grid lock on the roads. Way to go city management!!! I hope that never happens again.
@turtletwi try moving to Atlanta where they have to cancel work and schools because of heavy rain. Apparently when one little raindrop hits the windshield everyone just freaks out about getting rain on their BMWs so they drive as fast as possible
I hate when it rains in Arizona because 90% of the people who live here cant drive for shit when it rains or snows. They get so scared. I never seen people actually pull off a road and put their hazard lights on. How pathetic. Learn to drive or watch the weather channel and stay off the damn roads.
@darkvampire5555 it does but only occasionally. the monsoons come in like clockwork around 4pm everyday in late july to august...it'll rain hard accompanied by crazy thunder and lightning but then stop by about 10pm. by next morning, it will be sunny and dry until the clouds start rolling in around 3pm and the process repeats over and over. it is truly a spectacle and sights, sounds, and smells are amazing. i've been away from tucson for 25 years but i miss it terribly.
This was actually a light storm. And yes it is true,,there can be aramgedon on one side of the road in a sheet wall of water and then bone dry 100 feet away. Its so weird here.
what i hate about the rain here is that it only rains REALLY hard in certain areas!!! like last month we were driving through 12th and ajo..the visibility was like 5 feet!! and on irvington it was hardly sprinkling!! ugh...
I hear you, Sonorense. I moved to Tucson from Cali, but moved back to Cali (for my family), and I've left my heart in my beautiful, Desert City ever since...
The very first day on my first visit to Tucson in July of 1975, there was a terrible storm with lightning. It was a wild and crazy storm and fun to watch through a window. I have been to Tucson countless times after that and have only seen a few drops of rain here and there.
