To coolerdude44, the ZR1 does prove euro's to be what they are: overpriced, underperforming snobs. The ZR1 will best almost any euro supercar and the only thing that it doesn't do better is the exclusive status you get by owning a euro super car. The ZR1 doesn't have the flashy interior, but its a purpose built vehicle for a track. Its not meant for rolling into the grammy's with Monica Belluchi in the passenger seat.
the 350z has too much horsepower? uhhh how does 290hp>307hp make sence? the 350z is a coupe and weighs significantly less than a 4dr luxury sedan, and besides the vq35 sounds like shit anyway
@nubnubnubnubnub oh please just because the americans can offer you something 3/4 as good for 50% the price doesn't make something overpriced. next you'll tell me ferrari's are all badge because the zr1 has more power. please kid... get off the internet.
No way, S4's torque vectoring system is top notch. Way more efficient than the one in the Evo. S4 is a much heavier car, yet it's faster around a track.
even though im not a fan of regular american cars...if i was looking for a luxury car for this price...id go with this cadilac over a benz, bmw, or audi...why ? because they have nothing at this price range that is worth what it costs
Not even the German manufacturers cars like BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi have done under 8 secs with a price tag 2 to 4 times more than the CTS-V!
Anyone that takes these haters seriously are here to argue with them. Why listen to people that have never spent time in a CTS and most likely drive Kia's or 40 year old VW buses! You should listen to 99% of the evaluators that love this car and give it high marks across the board.
These Caddy's have beautiful interiors with excellent fit and finish and the reliability has been at the top of the class. The engines run smooth and get excellent MPG, transmissions are tops in the class and if you think your sedan is faster? don't run into the CTS-V while driving through the mountain twisty's. It holds the record at the Nurburgring for 4 door sedans and is the first to run under 8 secs at 7:59. Did I mention how cutting edge the car looks? wait till the Coupe appears.
The people here saying the new Cadillac's have poor fit & finish, are unreliable are here just to hate. They have allegiants with the manufacturers of their own countries manufacturers or they hate American cars no matter how good they are! Or, they hate Americans, especially when they have no answer for our dominance at the track and on the streets. Viper ACR 7:22.1, ZR1 7:22.4 at the ring dominating cars costing 3 to10Xs more. The Cobalt SS has the record for FWD sport compacts at 8:22.7
You can also tell those haters that the 6 speed 6L50 transmission used in the standard CTS is bought from GM by BMW and used in several of there straight 6 applications.
GM quality is very good actually. I own a 1998 Pontiac Gran Prix and it has over 160K miles on it, the paint is like new, and the car runs great. I also own a new Pontiac G8 and it is just as good as a BMW but I think it is better after test driving several cars. This Cadillac is a very nice car, go buy one if you can afford it.
haha! i had a Grand prix 94 6 cyl 3.4 engine! and believe me those cars never die! you must know cause you have one four years newer than the one i had
This car has amazed me, it is certainly the best production car Cadillac has ever made, based on its abilities. I have to admit that I didn't let my guard down until I heard James May on Top Gear call this the best American car he'd ever driven. As I've researched this car I've found it to be more and more amazing and if I had the money I would choose this car every time over the foreign or domestic competition.

lol never buying another american car again. bought my first one and already had to spend 2500 bucks on my trans. Stick with Euro cars people. or just get a car that u know wont break down on ya like a honda. Power means nothing if your car weighs 3000 pounds...
a dash of homework here & there never killed any one, unless they are being beat with the facts, & speaking of which I decided to find a few. Straight from the J.D. Power website.
"For a 14th consecutive year, Lexus ranks highest in vehicle dependability, improving by 25 problems per 100 vehicles since 2007 to achieve a score of 120 PP100. Following in the top five rankings are Mercury, Cadillac, Toyota and Acura, respectively."
The CTS 3.6 DI is not designed to be a sport car, who cares about the weight ? And It handles better than many european cars that are more expensive and worse built.
Funny the same jerks whom may tell you that your not patriotic because you hate bush/usa patriot act (i.e. all the faux news jerks) most likely drive something german because they wouldnt be caught dead in a caddy lol.
J.D. Power& associates website. Google it and look for your self.
Google J.D. Power & associates and put in vehicle dependability and look it up. BMW is in the top ten but its behind Cadillac. Which proves my point that Europ snobbery isnt always worth the high price people pay for it. Which begs me to ask why do people really like the german autos ? They are deathly afraid of being seeing in something american & that their car is an extention of their "penis".
I traded my 2007 E350 on a new CTS DI 3.6. The Cadillac is much faster gets about the same mileage, handles better and in my opinion looks like a new car compared to my E's old looks. My Mercedes had more quality related issues than any US built car I have owned. The perception that German cars are better is a false one I wish more people would wake up to. Also the maintanance costs of the MB are a joke. MB is a poor joke at a high price!
My father had a wolfsburg edition Jetta in the mid 90's & porche 944 before that. Im sure he put Suds Volkswagen of Illinois mechanics kids thru college with the repair & maintance issues/costs. Ill take my M5/C63/RS6 thumping CTS-V in black for 20+K less, w/better reliability & gas mileage.

True, but this engine was developed pretty extensively in Australia by Holden. The Direct Injection version of the 3.6L V6 built in Adelaide, South Australia. The transmission is new as well. Cornering is up to the Americans. but this engine is going in the Australian Holden VE Commodore early next year
Ed, you could be right, but a few thoughts: 1) Compare apples to apples. A CTS is a "four door sports car." A 350Z is a sports car. 2) 0-60 time of 5.9 seconds with RWD and a manual transmission doesn't really seem slow to me. 3) I've had mine for a couple of days now (AWD, 304hp) and I can say that while it's not the fastest thing on the road, it probably has the best, most well balanced and communicative steering I have ever seen on a car. Overall, I think Cadillac hit a home run here,
all i know, jst pulled a 20 foot boat from st.louis,,,straight shot to evanville, in did 80 mph with 3,000 pounds behind me...says something about the car...go caddy
i like how hes saying "we've only got the 3.6" to explain why the 350Z is pulling away. lolz, the 350Z has a 3.5 only. it also has either the same or 20 LESS HP depending on the year, but hes saying "the Nissan has too much HP for us to catch up" and was a convertible as well, which means it has much added drag over a coupe.
nice cts, i dont like using autostick, the guy doesnt know how to drive, why would you drive a cadillac like that!! SQUEELING TIRES! i would never do that!
This guy is a very bad driver in a very good perfmored car... Cadillac has made a very unique car and although it isnt one i would ever buy i would enjoy having this car. American cars have truly impressed me
AWD from Cadillac? No thanks, If I need AWD I'll get an Audi which its Quattro System is much much better than the CTS. If, I wanted performance I would get a 3-Series and If I wanted luxury It would be this. The shifting is just off and how the hell would you drift this? AWD, yeah if it had more horsepower and a 40-60 power balance.
Meanwhile, the Fleetwood was a smoother ride which is better for long trips and around town, you can't go that fast anyway. The CTS is insanely overpriced. The base model comes with vinyl interior.
"It's hard to believe the people who built the Fleetwood made this car"? What the hell are you talking about? It's hard to believe I have to share the planet with mouth-breathers like this idiot. The Fleetwood is from another era, why make such a stupid comment? Loser.
...GM... Z06... the supercar killer.. outperformed the Lamborghini Murcielago in the Nurburgring... yeah, might want to revise what you said there doug..
ohhhhhhhhh shiiiiTTT, he schooled MEEE! Damn, 3 thoughts - since he was BORN!! AHAHAHAHAHA Mom must be so proud of your gay jokes. You really are lame there doug.
This car is awesome!I bought one a couple months ago and I'm glad I did.I was coinsidering the BMW three series, but this car was overall ALOT better looking and the quality was there.Has a very powerful engine, and I know it could catch up to that Nissan Z.
Believe me, I`ve driven many BM`s and Mercedes here in Germany and most of them aren`t that special. Cadillac cought up and is right up there with the european competitors.
no, its just cheaper. i wish more often domestics would make a car that you could say "this is a great car" without having to add "for the money" to the end of the sentence.
sorry, but the BMW 530i will blow its doors off, its just 20 grand more expensive.
a 530i is *technically* better, for that matter a 523d is but that's not my point. I phrased it badly-to those of us which the 'personality' of a car matters, a Cadillac offers a LOT more than any German car
I'm British so I'm not bashing BMWs and Mercedes and so on because of patriotism-they just don't excite me
i have to disagree with you there...it's not a BMW or Mercedes so it can't be much better...it's a good car; i love it and cadillac did an awesome job and i can't wait to see the coupe...but BMW and Mercedes are on their own levels
Cadillac isn't and will never be as good as a BMW or Mercedes. (Even though BMW has disappointed me lately...but the 1 series brought my love for it back!)
I'm just saying that Cadillac did a very nice job with the CTS...but it'll never be as good as the other 2 I mentioned.
I agree with you to a certain extent-but always remember that the prowess of a car is always down to opinion
and my opinion is that these days Mercedes are terrible (up until the mid 90s they were fantastic) and that BMWs are flawed-but I notice their problems purely because they have no place in my heart.
and in my opinion, I'd much much rather drive a Cadillac than either a Mercedes or a BMW
of course, I consider your opinion equal in importance to my own
One of the worst cars I've ever owned was an '87 300E. I've had better reliability from American economy cars. Build and materials quality was unmatched though. As nice as the new CTS is, I seriously doubt it's a quality product in the long run. Let's see what owners thing by the time they hit 100k miles. I don't think they'll be too impressed.
Lol, I'm not the person to bash, but his claim that the CTS has 307 hp when it actually has 304 was kinda funny. Also, the 350Z has much more horsepower? It's got 306! only 3 more with tons of less weight. I've got an 06' 325i, and thought about trading for the new CTS. Granted my bimmer ain't as fast, but to be honest I don't need to be the fastest on the on-ramp on my way to work. And I still have a decent resale value.
Actually, the paddle** shifters are for the more sophisticated racing feel, coming from the roots of the f1 cars.. I have them in my C6 Coupe, fun as hell having that style shifting on a big v8, it makes regular shifting look very stupid.
Sorry, but the real F1 cars are H-gate manuals. Think of all the ones back in the 80's. 1500HP worth of turbocharged V-6's, and no flappy paddle gearboxes. BTW, the F1 cars now use an auto-shift sequential manual. Your C6 is still a planetary automatic buddy...
too true-it's an automatic which you tell when to change gear-in other words you lose the best of both worlds-the relaxed feel of an auto and the precision and fun of a manual
Dude, he was compaining about having to shift gears by taking his hands off the wheel. He just makes excuses why he coulnt catch the other guy. Hes a total red neck you can tell.
This guy needs to learn how to drive. I have a 2008 cts and i have beaten a 335i sedan. i know i could catch up to that z, cuz my friend has a g35 and we were head and head, and his car is fully broken in.
That car is sick - way more soul and style than the generic crap from Japan. Lexus is lame; no self-respecting American should buy that crap. You buy Jap and you ain;t no American: you're a sell-out.
@scabberdoug : Ever heard of solid state drives? Because I'm willing to bet that's what they are using. A regular hard drive has moving parts, shocks (which are unavoidable in any car) can kill it off fairly easy. You can probably buy a few 750gb regular hard drives for the price this "absolete" 40gb one costs.
i love the look of that cts. the grill and the cock pit screams sexy

Meanwhile, the Fleetwood was a smoother ride which is better for long trips and around town, you can't go that fast anyway. The CTS is insanely overpriced. The base model comes with vinyl interior.
tascam48 4 years ago
Love the new Cadillacs [CTS and STS] - very very nice. I'll look at a used one in a year or two; can't afford a new one.
uncleflaco 4 years ago
"it has a 307 horsepower motor" NO its actually 304 but the funny thing is you put 304 on the screen when the guy said 307
ccsfh2 4 years ago 3
"It's hard to believe the people who built the Fleetwood made this car"? What the hell are you talking about? It's hard to believe I have to share the planet with mouth-breathers like this idiot. The Fleetwood is from another era, why make such a stupid comment? Loser.

This car is awesome!I bought one a couple months ago and I'm glad I did.I was coinsidering the BMW three series, but this car was overall ALOT better looking and the quality was there.Has a very powerful engine, and I know it could catch up to that Nissan Z.

still not a BMW or an MB
and the reviewer/driver, whatever u want to call him sucks!
caraddict520 4 years ago
It's not supposed to be, but it's just as good. Better than a MB actually.
xignite1980x 4 years ago 4
Believe me, I`ve driven many BM`s and Mercedes here in Germany and most of them aren`t that special. Cadillac cought up and is right up there with the european competitors.
Airox180 3 years ago 4
admittedly it's not a BMW or a Mercedes
but thankfully it's much, much better
iainthornton 3 years ago 2
no, its just cheaper. i wish more often domestics would make a car that you could say "this is a great car" without having to add "for the money" to the end of the sentence.
sorry, but the BMW 530i will blow its doors off, its just 20 grand more expensive.
e60deluxe 3 years ago
a 530i is *technically* better, for that matter a 523d is but that's not my point. I phrased it badly-to those of us which the 'personality' of a car matters, a Cadillac offers a LOT more than any German car
I'm British so I'm not bashing BMWs and Mercedes and so on because of patriotism-they just don't excite me
iainthornton 3 years ago
i have to disagree with you there...it's not a BMW or Mercedes so it can't be much better...it's a good car; i love it and cadillac did an awesome job and i can't wait to see the coupe...but BMW and Mercedes are on their own levels
SharurottoJjang 3 years ago
MB has fallen way off recently.
BamFor07 3 years ago
sorry, I don't think I quite understand you...are you saying that the Cadillac is better or a BMW/Mercedes?
All I can say is that I could NEVER drive a BMW/Mercedes over a Cadillac
iainthornton 3 years ago
Cadillac isn't and will never be as good as a BMW or Mercedes. (Even though BMW has disappointed me lately...but the 1 series brought my love for it back!)
I'm just saying that Cadillac did a very nice job with the CTS...but it'll never be as good as the other 2 I mentioned.
SharurottoJjang 3 years ago
I agree with you to a certain extent-but always remember that the prowess of a car is always down to opinion
and my opinion is that these days Mercedes are terrible (up until the mid 90s they were fantastic) and that BMWs are flawed-but I notice their problems purely because they have no place in my heart.
and in my opinion, I'd much much rather drive a Cadillac than either a Mercedes or a BMW
of course, I consider your opinion equal in importance to my own
iainthornton 3 years ago
One of the worst cars I've ever owned was an '87 300E. I've had better reliability from American economy cars. Build and materials quality was unmatched though. As nice as the new CTS is, I seriously doubt it's a quality product in the long run. Let's see what owners thing by the time they hit 100k miles. I don't think they'll be too impressed.
palebeachbum 3 years ago
Tell that to the CTS-V
Not only are they putting it in the new level of performance, it's also putting itself in a new level of price

this guy stinks at driving!! he is so bad!!!
MBxpert15 4 years ago
Lol, I'm not the person to bash, but his claim that the CTS has 307 hp when it actually has 304 was kinda funny. Also, the 350Z has much more horsepower? It's got 306! only 3 more with tons of less weight. I've got an 06' 325i, and thought about trading for the new CTS. Granted my bimmer ain't as fast, but to be honest I don't need to be the fastest on the on-ramp on my way to work. And I still have a decent resale value.

a real man uses a clutch not them gay ass padal shifters he doesnt want to take his hands off the wheel
codydmaynard666 4 years ago 4
Actually, the paddle** shifters are for the more sophisticated racing feel, coming from the roots of the f1 cars.. I have them in my C6 Coupe, fun as hell having that style shifting on a big v8, it makes regular shifting look very stupid.
ThaPumpkin 4 years ago
Sorry, but the real F1 cars are H-gate manuals. Think of all the ones back in the 80's. 1500HP worth of turbocharged V-6's, and no flappy paddle gearboxes. BTW, the F1 cars now use an auto-shift sequential manual. Your C6 is still a planetary automatic buddy...
Nelso90 4 years ago
too true-it's an automatic which you tell when to change gear-in other words you lose the best of both worlds-the relaxed feel of an auto and the precision and fun of a manual
iainthornton 3 years ago
too true :D
iainthornton 3 years ago
Holy shit this guy sucks at driving............
Dude, he was compaining about having to shift gears by taking his hands off the wheel. He just makes excuses why he coulnt catch the other guy. Hes a total red neck you can tell.
Howie262 4 years ago 5
This guy needs to learn how to drive. I have a 2008 cts and i have beaten a 335i sedan. i know i could catch up to that z, cuz my friend has a g35 and we were head and head, and his car is fully broken in.
Ruetz522 4 years ago 3
That car is sick - way more soul and style than the generic crap from Japan. Lexus is lame; no self-respecting American should buy that crap. You buy Jap and you ain;t no American: you're a sell-out.

she knows, she's waiting to take a dump till you get here.
scabberdoug 4 years ago
@scabberdoug : Ever heard of solid state drives? Because I'm willing to bet that's what they are using. A regular hard drive has moving parts, shocks (which are unavoidable in any car) can kill it off fairly easy. You can probably buy a few 750gb regular hard drives for the price this "absolete" 40gb one costs.
