  • the same melody can also have a completely different colour, feel or flavour depending on the chord progression or mode

  • the word 'untypical' sounds odd to me. I found out they use this word a lot in England. I prefer 'atypical!'

  • this guy has some weird terminology for classic things. His basic idea is correct. Songwriting following classic scales and rhythms is a little boring.

    BUT

    Many "typical" melodies already break out of scales and classic rhythms. Especially modern pop music.
