Rick looks content and very happy. Amazing for someone who had a number #1 hit when they were a teenager and has played rock music all his life. Very grounded guy. He is his own man, and thinks for himself. Check out the rest of his interviews.
What we want to see is Rick, Johnny and Edgar Together ! settle the riffs and get all together ! I talked with Johnny's people recently at the casinos in Conn. Get Johnny and Edgar together again please !

Rick's New Album is out, no expenses, $20. a pop multiplied by 100 people is 2000. a day. If Rick is doing all these concerts playing his old songs, going into bars as a Christian, he's not much of a witness for Jesus Christ.
Are you, as a Christian, offended? Or is it that you, not being Christian, have some weird standard created in your imagination that somehow others are supposed to meet.
Yeah, Rock and Roll Hoochie Koo, is pretty much entirely not a Jesus song. There's about 120 hours of blues, gospel and jazz that he's played and recorded with John and Edgar that are a little less, uh, worldly.
FWIW....I saw him doing Rock & Roll Hootchie Koo on cable TV a year or so ago, and he'd changed the lyrics of the last verse. Can't recall them offhand, but it was a nod to him becoming a Christian.
Also FWIW....(and this is for halfcack) Jesus hung out in a lot of "unsavory places"....got to go where the "sinners" are if you're going to witness to them, y'know.
Exactly, preaching to the congregation on Sunday morning is a pretty fruitless endeavor. On the other hand, equipping that congregation is another story entirely.
I am happy Rick is going to bars and playing his songs... maybe he will strike up some good conversations along the way with people who need help with drug abuse or something. Because of who is and what he has gone through people are more likely to listen to him than some nobody like me. I doubt God would have a problem with him making $2000 a day as long as he puts it to good use.
True, but from this musician and hardcore music fan's point of view, I'd rather see a band I love in a bar or a small concert hall than an arena any day.
The sound is usually better, and so is the ambience.
Arenas (and especially stadiums... ughh) are a real drag.
On the other hand if he presents the Gospel in those bars, then he is doing just as Jesus did who associated with prostitutes and tax collectors, finding them far more tolerable than the religious leaders of that day. I believe that Derringer's faith is real.
An extremely bad witness. It's like me walking into a bar after I fell to my knees to the LORD, saying I thought I could quit drinking but I couldn't. After that night, I never thought about it but made a vow I would never play or be in a bar again. I have kept it, I don't know how long it's been because I'm not an alcoholic.
That's a good question. It seems like most of the people who play the real stuff, ie. music with 'soul', as opposed to trendy, shallow crap; DON'T make much money.
On the other hand, that might be a good thing, too-- it might keep our good musicians more grounded if they have to do other work to survive. Heh.

Judge not, lest ye be judged.
Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother's eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye?
You get better when you practice.
