Winter tires and drive slow. Slow and keep distance not because of the car infront of you but slow so that the car behind will be forced to go slow.. And if he loses traction,, you still have enough space infront to coast safely. At least this is how we do it here in Saskatchewan.

@XOoNOORALDEENoOX Rear wheel drive had nothing to do with it, he tried to whip into the other lane too fast. The van that was on his ass is lucky they didn't wipe out too. He was probably trying to move over to let the van go by, but I say fuck'em. They shouldn't be tailgating with those road conditions and I wouldn't try to whip into the other lane to get out of their way. I would have given the car with the camera a little more space and changed lanes more gradually.

@antandcharmi Sarcasm aside, you do see that the rear of the truck lifts as he commits to the lane change. As trucks are lighter in the rear and sudden change would "help" the truck lose his contact patch. I mean... they're from IA, its not like neither driver carrying that amount of speed (which we dont actually know) cant handle or are in unfamiliar territory. It happens, OMG WOW!!

How is this deemed crazy? You were passed by two travelers. He didnt do anything wrong, the rear of the truck just let go. Changing lanes a bit to fast due to him impeding the flow of traffic in the fast lane.

After a bit more review, the truck just so happen to crest a bump while changing his lane. Just a bit shy of contact with the rear wheels.

Ah, that's nothing, I had a Ford Excursion do a 360 right in front of me, while I was drive ~30mph (04 BMW 330i). With rwd, ASC/DSC i avoided that Excursion without going into a ditch. Now that was driving.

I had a guy do that to me once at a light. He decided to run a right light coming at me from my left (I was stopped, but my light turned green) and he decided last minute to brake, causing his pick up truck to spin out and his tail almost swiped the front of my car by just inches. He ended up facing backwards and his engine stalled. After he came to a rest, I honked at him once like "wtf are you doing" and drove off. I see you did the same. :)

happened to me in december in...sadly enough a ranger lol

was the morning after a big snow storm...and i was doing about 80km/h the speed limit is 110...i was staying in the passing lane because there was less ice but then a truck wanted to pass me so i got in the right lane...then when i went to get back into the left lane this exact same thing happened to me...except i managed to recover and the vehicle behind me was far enough behind that he would have had more than enough time to stop

That is exactly what happened to me - One lane was all paved and the other had snow. The left lane suddenly became of snow and I switched lanes to avoid an accident when I spun out in the exact same way.

I drive a 2003 chevrolet cavalier.

I counter-steered but my back end went over the icey part (that's what spun me around). I was going 100kmh (62 mph)

@chipmunkyz333 I don't know if you know this, but when driving a FWD, it helps to accelerate lightly while changing lanes. This helps to plant the rear end just a little more and if the fronts spin slightly, you'll still go mostly straight. If you lift off the gas in anything while changing lanes on snow, you unload the rear and all that's going to do is cause you trouble.
