  • Jakks Made other plug and play hardware such as the Telestory Interactive Storybook System and the Ultimotion Motion control video games.

  • There's also a Retro Arcade Featuring Space Invaders by Jakks that has the same joystick shell, but that's rare

  • Do you mean the Space Invaders one that was done by Radica! or there's some *other* S. Invaders one that Jakks did? If it's the one with five games (S. Invaders, Qix, Lunar Rescue, Colony 7 and Phoenix) that was Radica!

But HEY though! Great you have a plug and play wiki! I went ahead and dumped my Retro Arcade Featuring Pac-Man article on it :) I'll write one up for the Star Wars Original Trilogy one as well sometime this week.

  • @Darrylb500 I Mean The Retro Arcade Space Invaders uses the same joystick shell as this one and has 10 taito games including space invader.

  • Wow, I wonder if there was some legal dispute that caused it to disappear so quickly? Odd that it's gone already, yet it came out in 2009! And it's not like some units that wind up in the bargain bin quickly due to a tv flop, like 1 vs. 100 (since it only lasted one season), although I heard like a year ago it was still showing on Australian tv and the plug and play unit was still being sold over there too.

  • I got to say this is awesome and I got some big scores like over 70,000 points in Super Pac-Man.

  • @JackRed666 Yeah it's a decent compilation, although it still has room for improvement though (like a better joystick).

My Super Pac-Man patterns still work and I assume ones for the others (Pac-Man, Pac-Man Plus) will work too but I can't say for sure since I didn't know any for those.

  • @Darrylb500 I can tell you that if you have trouble playing Pac-Man then you won't get far in Pac-Man Plus.

Pac and Pal is an good game despite it being one of the rariest games in the series.

I really enjoy playing that 12 in 1 so much it feels like I have an bunch of arcade machines in my house.

  • My high score between original Pac and Plus are about the same: 50,000. Theoretically your score on the latter can be higher since if you eat the monsters after you eat the prize they're worth twice as much, but they're hard to catch when they're invisible/you don't know any patterns! :P

I never even heard of Pac & Pal until a few years ago. I think people didn't like it and Super P. because they strayed too far from the original, but I like both!

Good point about the arcade feel :)

  • I could of sworn Siper Pac-man is what they played on an old cheesy 80's movie called "Joysticks". It's cheesy, yes, but you see a lot of old arcade machines because it was filmed in 1983.

I really miss the arcade. It's what happened when consoles finally caught to arcade performance and graphics, we always wanted the arcade at home, but when we got it ...it killed the arcades. I guess that's the price you pay!

  • You swear correctly there :) A friend of mine sent me the Joysticks movie last year, which, yeah, that was Super Pac-Man in the movie, all right.

Yep, that's the price of technology, unfortunately!

  • where did you get this!

  • Most big stores will have it, like Target, where I got mine at. It depends on how well stocked your local one is though, at times I've thought Target had quit carrying them, then I'd look later and see them again :) Plus on their site they list places that supposedly carry them but I wouldn't see them, like Best Buy and Game Stop. So it depends a bit on the store, I guess.

  • youtube.com/watch?v=LDwtNdkilRA

    made at little change :-)

  • I figured to tell those who this or mine review on that Pac-Man Plus is an upgrade of the original not made by Namco.

After Pac-Man's release Bally Midway decided to make their own sequel since they got tired of waiting for Namco's.

What we got was Ms. Pac-Man from Bally Midway while Super Pac-Man came after after.

Namco wasn't doing good due to Ms. Pac-Man and Pac-Man Plus however after they release those game Bally Midway start losing it that cause their relationship with Namco end.

  • @IAmClearlyTheBest Yeah you should :D It is pure awesome!

  • @IAmClearlyTheBest I never wanna play a arcade game on a computer it feels..wrong. Never with a keybord anyway. I just got Namco museum viritual arcade for 8 bucks, 30 exelent arcade games, I am a happy man :) Now I only need to get a arcade stick and infinite fun is at hand.

  • Hah, no biggie, I paid for it months ago, it's not like buying some brand new console ahead of everyone else (with a high failure rate, like with Microsoft's junk) and then a year later it's current models are cheaper and usually less problematic. And it's not like this didn't cost hundreds of bucks or anything.

  • I can play all of those games(the faithful arcade ports) and much more(hacks, and translations etc...) on my pc (via emulators and roms) for free. Though this is nice for people that are on a real tight budget(I am on a tight budget but dont really buy any of these type of units/products because I have other ways of playing like on consoles and pc) , or want to play games on a tv. I prefer to play my games on a tv, though playing games on the pc is also a nice option(THANK YOU GOD).

  • Hee hee! Yeah I know about tight budgets too, that's why I have just about all of the Vectrex homebrews that have several games each, since they're a good buy :) Just as long as you have a joystick or a MAME machine ROMs can still be good...or the occasional retro expo, which hopefully I'll be going to in October!

  • Has anybody else but me noticed that these Jakks plug in games are not quite the same as the original arcade games? For example, in regular pacman, on the plug in play, after the 2 peaches, you get 3 red apples next. I can never remember having to do 3 red apples before getting to the grapes. Also, in Pac Man Plus, after the two pea pods, next is a loaf of bread. But no bread is found on the original arcade game. The DigDug is a bit different too. Am I right, wrong, or getting old?????

  • No, anyone who has a halfway decent memory of playing the originals notices the differences. And earlier Jakks units were way worse.

About the only difference with Dig Dug is that the screen's so big you have to scroll around in order to see the whole thing. Xevious was butchered though.

I'm not real familiar with the later Pac-Man boards, nor Pac-Man Plus, so I couldn't help you there. I DO know Super Pac-Man stuff is correct since I knew patterns to the game and they still work.

  • @Darrylb500 Thats great thanks for keeping my sanity intact (at least temporarily). You mentioned Super Pac. I never played it until recently, but what I've noticed (and not JUST Super Pac on the Jakks games). You can be going along fine, thinking you've created a nice pattern for yourself, and then bang! One ghost does a little something different and throws it all off. My friend was playing Galaga (and had for years) and then yelled, HEY THATS NOT SUPPOSED TO HAPPEN! Minor differences, yes!

  • About the 'sanity' and Galaga parts of your comment: hee hee! :)

Yeah there's minor differences in several of these games, but it's a good unit altogether (aside from better control). If you look at fellow YouTuber gguru1 here, he did a review of an older unit and you can immediately tell the sounds of Galaxian are totally different and the map on Rally-X and Bosconian aren't sectioned off...in other words, they're superimposed on the screen, making it hard to see, which is stupid!

  • Frys has this for $19.99. Thinking of getting one tomorrow. This brings back memories when I was a kid during the early 80s.

  • How do you hook this thing up to your TV or VCR? Do you need to set it to channel 3?

  • Ugh...there's so many different ways to connect through tvs through the years it's hard to say.

Personally I just plug the a/v cords into my set and it works on the AUX channel (before channel 2). Over at my parents' house I can't figure out how to get sound from one tv, but it works fine on the other one (also works on AUX). The only thing the instructions say about connecting is to 'consult the audio/video device's manual for details', that's it.

Glad you're thinking of getting one :)

  • @Darrylb500

Thanks! Yea, I ended buying one at Fry's. Can't beat it for $19.99. This really takes me back when I was a kid in the 80s

  • Cool! I don't think it'll be too difficult to figure out how to hook up...actually now that I think about it, I didn't get sound off that one tv because it's got two audio jacks and the unit only has one. But I've got a splitter, should work in case the nephew wants to play it again :)

Hey, you ought to check out my H. A. A. G. videos on here, it's a local annual gaming expo with dozens of pinball and video games. I'm sure you'll spot a few favorites!

  • Where can I get this?

  • I got mine at Target. Might want to check there...probably Wal-Mart, toy stores, various online stores, etc.

  • Does anyone know if pac man comes with the speed up hack?

  • No, unless it's a hidden bonus game; I've looked around the net and it doesn't seem like these compilations has any Easter eggs in them.

BTW, going to have to check out your Metallica cover vids, plus I see you have a Mortification vid favorited...that was the first cd of theirs I got :)

  • I got one yesterday, and i got 2 mil on bosconian!!!!

  • Heh, yeah, THAT'S the difference in between being a poor kid and can only put one or two quarters (or tokens) here and there and being able to play all you want, since I didn't know this game wasn't that hard. I couldn't get past many, many rounds like I can today, ha ha.

Can't say I can get a million on it, much less two. How freakin' long did that take you? Gads, I shudder to think...my games take long enough at 20 or so minutes each, more or less...

  • These are the best as far as arcade accuracy...i got the edition of Pac man collection (plug n play) that only has the 4 Pac games..not the other ones as well...Super Pac Man was one i never thought i 'd play again..but for $20 i was boiled over..I loved this game then and still love it..It was my fave of all the pac game derivatives..

  • Yeah it's fairly good for the most part. They've gotten better, as I saw a video of Pole Position from an earlier compilation and the sound was off.

I'm surprised you liked Super Pac-Man, not many people did. I thought it was more intuitive than any of the other Pac-Man (and Ms. ;) ) games because you had to work at unlocking parts of the maze just so you could eat!

  • This is really awesome footage, you can't find anything put together so well about all of these great games, "Nice Work"

  • Question, I bought this... I was wondering if the ground targets in Xevious repeated after each level on your game as well. I dont even have any of the flying mirrors on the third level like i remember.

  • I'm not sure if they repeat; I don't think so. I just can't get very far on this without diagonals and have barely played it at all because of that! (feh!)

Yeah I know they took out those octagon-shaped tank things, at least (whatever they're called, that you can only destroy with bombs), it's pretty ridiculous, really. At least the rest of the games were left fairly unscathed though.

  • Thanks, this one took forever to do, on and off!

Yeah I know they've also had several of the Namco Museum ones as well. I think as far as features on this one, it would've been good if that, with them changing things (aliens/ships' behavior on Galaxian, steerable shots on Bosconian [geez!]), they could've given us a CHOICE if we wanted to play them 'as is' or choose an updated feature instead. Most of us want the originals, dammit!

  • Sounds like a nice package. Never seen this particular model. I'll keep an eye out for one :)

    Thanks Darryl

  • Thank YOU! Maybe they're not as prevalent in Canada but they're always coming out with new ones here; actually I'm kind of disgusted now after researching these, they've already had these before:

    Ms. Pac-Man

    Ms. Pac-Man and Friends

    Super Pac-Man

    Namco Classics

    Arcade Gold Featuring Pac-Man

And now this. They act like Namco only came out with 20 games ever and they kept on recycling 15 of the 20 or so (and they'll probably eventually do versions of the other five). (sighs) Oh well...

  • Pacman is the best! nice review :D

  • Thanks, nice to see you again!

  • Thanks buddy. Im always around, or is that a square? lol

  • Heh, good one! :)

  • Thanks for the review!

Now waiting for a full video version from you.

  • Thanks, don't hold your breath though, don't know when I'll get a camera and do it!
