According to the magazine IstoE, Issue No. 2118 in Brazil Confidential column written by Octavio Costa, a navy of Brazil signed a package of $ 12.7 billion with Italy, for the purchase of 18 frigates FREMM, 10 NaPaOc class and Commander 01 LSV class Etna.

Anyway, the french DCN is building a fregate FREMM for the Navy of Marrocco.
Greece is willing 6 of them, also from CDN, but this last proyect is been freezed by the economic crisis.
So,aparently DCN is in a winner position to reduce the costs.

La legge finanziaria 2006 ha previsto stanziamenti idonei allavvio del programma per la costruzione delle prime due fregate.
La legge finanziaria 2007 ha inoltre finanziato, tramite bilancio ordinario della Difesa e contributi straordinari MSE ulteriori 4 unità; salgono quindi a 6 le navi già finanziate.

Nope. The FREMM was initially a project from French DCN (Direction des Chantiers Navals) and joined in 2002 by Italy.

C'est une coopération Franco italenne qui vient en plus du Programme Horizon. La France va en construire 11 exemplaires. le premier exemplaire est dèja construit et s'appelle Aquitaine. L'Italie en en commander deux pour l'instant. C'est une déclinaison du design des Frégates française Lafayette première frégate Furtives (Stealth Light Frigates) La France en a commander 5. C'est le même constructeur que pour la Gamme Horizon et c'est superbe.

The Spanish F100 class frigate is built using nearly all US technology, at least Italy and France design, build and equip their warships themselves, without US assistance i doubt the Spanish would have been able to put a ship in the same leauge as the FREMM to sea.

This ship is big like a destroyer but doesn't carry a heavy armament, The dutch de zeven frigates and german sachsen class are superior in terms of firepower, while the spanish F100 is europes most advanced frigate since it is equipped with the aegies combat system, even the norwegian derivative of the f100 is better than the FREMM, however since the FREMM uses of the shelve materials it is going to be relative cheap allowing them to be built in large numbers.

according to NATO standards, it is a destroyer, but the french navy (and the other navies that ordered the FREMM) refer to them as frigates (frégates); FS Duquesne (D603) was more than 6000t, but still a "frigate", like the "Georges Leygues" class (4800t), or the Lafayette class (3000t, this would also be a frigate in nato standards)
