my dad has this phone and it is really good although it after 2 years has lost the power to revieve and send picutres! he also cant view photos until they are loaded onto the computer... I HOPE THIS HELPS :)
my e51 has a good speacker , i can listen to loud and clear music , but when it rings , although it's set on ringing and not ascending or whatever i can barely hear it and the volume is kinda fluctuating ... any help ?
the iphone 3GS relies on the use of the inbuilt free screen reader called voiceover. it's gesture based and confirms each press with speech and sounds. As an example if I wish to call someone, the keypad is spoken, tap once to hear the button you wish to press, then tap twice to activate. It's so easy to use, I'm working with it every day. The user can wear an ear piece in certain situations however it is illegal to discriminate against a blind person for their technology needs.
nickloveskangin. It's ok to question this lol I don't mind one bit. Nearly all mobile phones either using windows mobile or symbian OS have issues of accessibility. this includes use of external 3rd party screen readers suck as talks for S60 nokia devices, mobileSpeak and one or two others. The software used is unstable, crashes nokia and other manufacturers of phone, mobile speak is over priced and not worth the money with poor tech support.
I'm thinking of purchasing this phone, and i just cant make a 100 per cent descision :@. I would like to know is it worth the £150 pounds or shall i put my money elsewhere? Please help :) Thanks.
extending on this comment a bit further..... Voiceover is a lifeline for blind mac users and is the best screen reader interface on the market. so you get to appreciate when using the iPhone 3GS the accessibility factors. Next time you make a comment which just includes a derogatory insult. why not conduct some research on the product in question and learn something just for once.
nubreed000 you clearly have no understanding of adaptive technologies. the iPhone 3GS uses voiceover as a screen reader and gives the blind a pure access point with support for braille etc. As a studio guy, I work with touch screen based hardware with screen reader software running so please don't call me a moron. it just reflects badly upon yourself you poorly educated fool.

The e51 is a rip off for a phone. poorly built. as an example of this, the casing to access the sim and battery is stiff and not as easy to deal with, the operating system is unstable and crashes. This is not a phone I recommend for blind and visually impaired people. Will not work with certain screen readers such as talks for series 60, etc. a waste of money. stuck with it and can't stand it. I need a phone I can rely on as a blind studio engineer. the best phone on the market is iPhone 3GS.
Is this phone compatible with T-mobile's UMA calling or the Hotspot calling? I would like to find out since I'm on T-mobile and would like to get this phone!
sorry man, its a GSM phone. so therefore it wont be usable for ANY CDMA carriers. (sprint, verizon, alltel, etc) but GSM carriers like T-mobile, AT&T, and Rogers Wireless can use this phone. if i were u, i would switch to att because they have better phones than verizon, better coverage, freenights after 7pm, and they use SIM cards! (GSM)
umm idk about the modem part. thats something i would refer u to ask Phonedog. Noah answeres all ur questions and he'll know what to tell u. but i do believe that it does have video calling.
"There was a lot of lag while operating the phone."
Did I hear that correctly? If so, your particularl phone had issues.
Along with the N95 8GB & N82, this is easily the fastest S60 device on the market I have ever tried. Even with heavy multi-tasking, I've never experienced any sluggishness.
Same here. I also disagree with what he said about the battery. without touching it, it can last in standby for about a week. it has one of the strongest batteries out there, 1050mAh, that's more than the N95.
this phone is amazing

fair enough. i apologize for my complete ignorance and remark.

@lewisjbrock
This may come off as a bit patronizing... but wouldn't the smartest thing for a blind person to do be not getting a touchscreen...
I mean with a button phone, you can just remember the button presses.
And also if it works like a computer and reads the words out to them, what would hey do in a place where they had to silence their phones completely?
