  • Wow this song was the shit in the late 80's good times!!!!!

  • 1988? Wow and I thought it was made in the early 90's

  • 1988.....we are getting old

  • I know right?

  • 0:20 - 0:30 a prime example of white person jam dancing

  • Good clever words,,,ya dont get it! ??

    it is what she is,,,,,,,,

never understand what they're talking about but its incredible

  • I love this song!! See these are the songs that should be on the radio not Jay-z Lil Wayne and them..This is REAL GOOD music!

  • yea I agree, brings back good memories. people could express thoughts face to face pre text messages.

  • This song just takes me back!! When things were simpier! Life was slower and easier.

  • If you like this you'll f*cken love regan singing chill.

    Edie is primo!!!!

  • A lovely song. Brickell's is truly a magnificent singer.

  • She did this song on SNL and forgot the words. It was weird because no one had ever heard this song before and we all thought the SNL version was correct.

  • she messed up the words cuz paul simon, her future husband, was standing in front of the cameraman

  • Quanto l'ho cercata questa canzone....bella bella!!!

  • Love the solo in this song!

  • Yeah man! And the guy playing it looks like Pete Brady

  • u can literally smell the funk off this one!!

i mean it looks like no one's had a bath in years!!! haha

    just kidding

its too bad she sold her musical identity

to become Dylan's 'wife'.she probably had afew good songs left in her...

-then again the industry is not worth the trouble.this song is one of my fav's

  • she married Paul Simmon, not Dylan

  • I forget her name every time I try to find her on Rhapsody, till finally I realized it wasn't eddy.

    Isn't idiocy fun?

  • I'm not too smart myself.But I know what I know myself.

  • Me encanta cantar este tema...además me recuerda mis buenos tiempos..los de los 90..<3

  • No matter what anyone says, I love this song.

  • You know, saying how old you are just makes you more immature than the average 11 year old.

  • I'm pretty sure this was on Beavis & Butthead for a few seconds.. before they changed the channel, that is.. I dig it though - it's catchy.

  • u know, i never really got this song

    but it sounds sweet

  • R u saying your too young to know wut a good song is

  • Shes more 60's than 80's. Look what shes wearing! Lolz Awesome song! :D :P XD

  • Hey SharonYW, the song is "Slow Down" by Brand Nubian....that whole album is great.

  • "I know what I know if you know what I mean." This song is awesome!

  • this song is so me:)

  • Check out Phoebe Peek, she's just thirteen years old from England and writing the most amazing stuff, love her Careful What You Wish For - back to the old days of real singer songwriters

  • I'm 8 an i lvoe this!

  • So you're 8 years old and like videos about Islamic Exorcism (got that from your favorites) and videos starring interviews of John McCain and Barack Obama?

  • realy cool song, what a voice.

  • Can someone please tell me what rap song samples :What I am is what I am" (only that part) I know I have heard this as a hook in some rap song. Please help...anyone. SUCH A COOL SONG

  • Uh.. maybe Eminem. "Cause I am whatever you say I am, if I wasn't ,then why would I say I am?"

  • New Edition sampled it or rather Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis for da song, 'Something About You'.

If I'm not mistaken, not rap I know but I don't remem....... Oh yeah, da rap song is by Brand Nubian. It's 'Slow Down'.

Wow, I did that off da top of my head without wiki or nothing, lol.

  • huh?!!

  • agree great song. thoughtful lyrics. Like John lennon once said about one of his songs, "Don't take it so literally man, it's just a song. (Don't base a new religion on it). : )

  • This is one of my favorite songs... basically because it sounds awsome, but if you go and look at the lyrics... it makes absolutly no sense. (and remember Baby Spice from The Spice Girls... Ya, she did a redo of the song)

  • Did you consider that maybe you just don't understand the meaning to the song?

    ps, Baby Spice sucks.

  • im 13 and i luv this song

  • ditto

  • es lo mejor esa cancion ...

  • defiantly agree, she was no doubt the joplin of the 80s, she puts off the sexiest vibes with her music, but I wouldnt say the solo is a rip-off of fire on the mountain, the dead laid so much groundwork for bands today brother, but they no doubt have some grateful dead influence

  • she was the 80's Janis Joplin with her beat and sound. more of a 68 69 sound that 80's!! One hell of a song! love it to death my theme song.

  • She sounds like the prototype for Alanis Morrisette, Lisa Loeb, Sheryl Crow, etc.

  • Major song.

  • great sontg but the solo sounds like a jerry garcia fire on the mountain rip-off....

  • XYZ ABC And every thing inbetween.

  • nice song !!! i love it

  • check out KIM KOREN's Can't Take It With You

  • Google Gaddabouts Radio to listen to samples from Edie's latest CD with Steve Gadd on drums.

  • maravillosa cancion....me trae recuerdos del año 1989 cuando estaba en el liceo...gracias por subir este video.

  • beautifuuuuuul...... :D

  • I don't know, it brings back good memories during the shitty 80's. "College rock" music or whatever they call it dominates the radio today Soooo...I guess this song had a hand in starting all that...for better or worse.

  • she is a doll a sweet texan doll she has a awesome spirit and soul

  • this, What's Up by 4 Non Blonds and What If God Was One Of Us by Joan Osbourne has to be the best female sung songs. Well at least my favorite.

  • ever hear joan osbourne sing broken down palace from the grateful dead

  • she married to Paul Simon of Simon and

    Garfunkel

  • Waouhhh so sweet to hear that pearl again!!! I was so loving it 15 years ago ( yeah....Im old now...) still so fresh and cool, is she still doing stuff? if someone knows...thanx xoxo

  • awesome song of all time

  • This song is about not taking things seriously and being yourself and take things with a grainofsalt.... just be yourself and believe in what you believe!

  • great song . it is timeless

  • can someone explain to me what dis song is about

  • jam at 2:10 is so awesome

  • no more bullshit!

let's get back to the normal world we had during the 60's!

    gay man have an orgasm!

  • Last time I checked, not that much has changed since the 60's...The government still controls everything and everyone. So, quit your whining!

  • your. dumb?

    haha.

    your on you-tube right now.

if thats not freedom i dont know what is.

think about this same concept..... in the 60s? fool.

obviously the gov. needs to step in to our lives for controlling purpose. but its all within reason.

    fool.

  • Yeah, you really don't know what freedom is and I'm not gonna waste my time on you. So I'll leave here with your little brainwashed mind...

  • choke me in the shallow water before I get too deep...

  • She is a female queen! & her bohemians, with a lil bit more of herself i the picc down pat,and they are all for us to share

    Luv Ya eddy

  • This song makes more sense as I age. I absolutely love it.

  • Yeah... This song is 21 years old, and it's still cool...

  • like me! =x

  • And what amazes me even more is... if it were released today it wouldn't sound outdated. It would climb to the top of the charts.

  • first time I saw this video was on "Beavis & Butthead" where they comment on the videos. They said something like, "Dude, she's pitching a lobe!" at the beginning when she's squatting down all weird.

Great song, video and Edie is super cute!

  • Wasn't she married to one of Simon and Garfunkle? Can't remember which. The 80s really was a golden age for "proper" music like this. Takes me back!

  • She married Paul Simon. I always wanted to be like her, and I think I am..what I am!

  • What is she doind nowadays???

  • I will ALWAYS love this song!!!

  • love this old song

  • Keep listening, and you MIGHT get the pic one day<<<<<

  • classic song.. it will never fade..

  • what i am...what i am...what you are or what....

  • Love ya babe

  • Gran tema, lindos recuerdos, un clásico del pop mundial.

  • great voice

  • damn his cymbals are mounted high!

  • stupenda

  • I love this song!!! <333

  • i love its funky solo,so huppy

  • both

  • Edie = she :)

  • retired model..i think...

  • I have this stuck in my head for the first time since 1997

  • yo i love this song

  • excellent song

  • KANSAS LOOK GOTTA LOVE IT

  • At first I only thought Edie was really beautiful and didn't really listen to the song, but the song is spectacular too.

  • can anybody tell me where to get the tab for this song none of the tab sites will actually give it to me it's like a continuous circle of bullshit

  • I tried loking at the tabs too I couldn't find any that made common sense I just learned it myself by ear I can't tell you though.

  • My Cousin!

  • Have you ever met Paul Simon?

  • Nope sadly =/

  • Edie has kindly posted dozens of demo songs over the past 3 years on her Myspace page.

  • Actually, Edie released a CD in 2008 called 'The Heavy Circles' with Harper Simon and friends. It's availiable on iTunes. The band is called The Heavy Circles. Edie will soon release a CD under the name 'The Gaddabouts. The Gaddabout website has 12 song samples.

  • So, UMG... is Edie still recording?

  • As far as I can tell, the last thing she recorded was in 2006

  • "I know what I know if U know what I mean".

  • i agree

  • Beavis and Butthead didn't like this one... although they did let it play without changing the channel on it.

  • This song was ahead of its time... One of my fave 80s songs

  • an instant classic

  • Excellent song. Todays "rock" is all total crap. This song is great.

  • Not all of todays rock is crap. Just some of it like an era of music.

  • alguien sabe que fué de este grupo y su cantante?

  • Excelent!

  • Edie and Paul Simon are cute together. :D

  • Actually, the 1980's were really experimental... this is the proof.

    Cheers!

  • That's rhetorical...

  • Sure.

  • you mean redundant?

  • Actually no, what I really mean is that is a naive, pointless comment. I was just just being polite.

Judging music in hindsight as experimental is a really daft thing to say. If you know anything about music, the development of music, musicians and particularly composers, you'll understand exactly what I mean.

  • great song

  • Comment removed

  • it just a song and i love it. Read Heidegger, Sastre, Jasper and kierkegaard. I insist this just a song ... Eddie rocks !!!!!!

  • poor sods you dont understand the meaning of this song at all - ratatouille is what you are!

  • will? what is will? so your God only have this will? how about the Hindu,Islam and Jews what do you think of their will? It happened that you were born in Christian nation with Christian Father/Society/President,If you are born in Middle East you might be saying right now that Allah in the only truth,If you were born in India you might saying that Krishna is the only truth. You obviously know nothing the subject of evolution.

  • sounds like you know nothing

  • why watch/listen if its that bad 4 u

  • Facts don't go away when scientists debate rival theories to explain them. Einstein's theory of gravitation replaced Newton's in this century, but apples didn't suspend themselves in midair, pending the outcome. And humans evolved from ape-like ancestors whether they did so by Darwin's proposed mechanism or by some other yet to be discovered.

  • Look no further. One thing is missing from evolution. Are u ready for thiis, its a bomb? The will. There is no natural selection, but will. This is divine will. This is evolution by will. Things want to move in that direction, and thay do, since the divine spirit grants them their wish. So does man, your salvation its up to you. (Thats what Christ its telling u about, so Christ its true all along. ). First coining of the term - Evolution by will - WORLDWIDE.

  • Well evolution is a theory. It is also a fact. And facts and theories are different things, not rungs in a hierarchy of increasing certainty. Facts are the world's data.Theories are structures of ideas that explain and interpret facts.

  • cool song!

  • hard to believe this song is over 20 years old!

  • Shes is beautiful!!!!!!!

  • The album this tune is on--"Shooting rubber bands at the stars"-is in the rare category of records in which every song is great--

  • when "theory" is synonymous with "idea", what is wrong with just saying "I have an idea"?

  • when christians call any scientific theory "just a theory", they're using two different meanings of the same word.

my point is that no one with scientific understanding would refer to any scientific theory as "just a theory".

    it doesn't make sense!

  • She is a mom now and her last CD was called VOLCANO - she is married to Paul Simon.

  • doesn't really sound like a 1 hit wonder band.

  • i so do not get dis song but i love the beat

  • esta es una de esas canciones que no tienen un sonido caracteristico de una epoca... es muy fresca...

  • I know what you mean edie......thank you...and keep grooviinng...now that we're both moms..... had a real good party ya know.

  • I really love her hair.

  • my theory on theories is theoretical.

  • maroci64

would you agree that the general use of the word theory has caused confusion?

why do you feel the need to insult?

  • when scientists refer to theory, they mean scientific theory. Scientific is implied!

they know the difference between a theory and an idea.

the public should just stop saying theory when they mean idea.

so you admit that no scientist would ever refer to a scientific theory as just a theory?

  • atheists and scientist are vastly different entities,

scientist search out reality while atheists are people who had their feelings hurt and are not mature enough to leave others out of their own bitterness.

  • palehorsepalerider

I'm not bitter, and exactly how were my feeling hurt?

I don't get the connection with hurt feeling and atheism.

  • 10,000 Maniacs-STYLE BANDS

  • New Bohemians were relatively short-lived, but reached a level of critical acclaim with that first album that 10,000 Maniacs could only hope for.

  • BTW

"when they're using it in the common sense of the word."

so would the following statement apply?

the earth is spherical, rotates, and revolves around the sun, but it's just a theory.

  • the loser of an argument is the one resorting to insults!

even though I've all ready won this little back and forth, I'll give you one last chance to win.

quote any famous scientist saying "it's only a theory" when referring to any scientific theory (not a hypothesis, or idea) and I'll concede.

if you can't, then we'll know who the moron is.
