  • I wish I had the words in the language of my ancestors , but I have'nt , so long as Maria keeps the old songs alive we will not be forgotten.

  • She has the voice of an Angel..... God has blessed her with a most precious gift... I cannot say more....

  • Go haoibhinn ar fad. Níor chaillis riamh é.

  • Truly haunting and moving. I have not drop one of Irish blood in me but over the past couple years have been inspired by other artists from the Emerald Isle and written many lyrics as a result. Sadly none are in Gaelic though. I also had the great blessing to attend two concert recordings in 2007 and 2009 in Ireland and was able to visit many lovely places. Sugarloaf Mountain was one such place near the concert this year which was done at Powerscourt Gardens. Very inspirational.

  • I had a great version of this song a while ago by Albert Fry, and hoped to find it again, but Maria McCool sings it beautifully too.

  • is it all right for a big roughty toughty bloke to say that this is lovely ?

  • very nice!

  • For me, hearing this song is like hearing Erin call me home

  • well u could at least spell it right-eireann.

  • this is a very beautiful song.. i love it and i have no clue what she is saying. but it makes my heart sigh and my mind reach to the heavens.. i know now that heaven on earth is in Gweedore in County Donegal lol.. i say this because musicians from there sing like Angels

  • She sings like an angel what a fantastic woman

  • i was lucky to have maria as a teacher when i was in primary school and i grew up listening to her sing. she is amazing and so inspiring

  • Peaceful and hauntingly beautiful! This music stirs the soul; evokes images of the warm sun on a green field of clover and the sweet fragrance of flowers, with a soft breeze coming in from the sea.... God! Take me back to a time when Happiness was a way of life....

  • can you please post an english translation for this beautiful song , thank you .

  • From an O'Byrne in America, Maria sings to the deepest part of the Irish soul, whether found in Erin or abroad. Our common language and culture survives in each of us and we are reminded of our heritage in great beauty such as this.
