  • en serio!! "like a sheet of paper!!" u r too funny! Dominican's rule!! jjajajajajajajaja... im laughing in spanish...

  • Don't know how I landed on this tutorial but I'm subbing from now on! Love your spirit and attitude!!!

  • What you were talking about at 3.22, is called a concentrator nozzle, not a diffuser. A diffuser spreads the air out, a concentrator blows it into one point.

  • @marshmello24 i know. i believe i made an annotation or note or even stated that i said that incorrectly

  • @SugarFreeTV Either way, I always love watching your tutorials, you are such a happy person, I always feel better after watching you.

  • I agreed with everything up until the "hair training". Training your naturally curly hair to be straight (i.e. heat training) is not healthy for the hair in the slightest. It doesn't matter how healthy you say your hair is, if you heat train it things will not go well. Essentially, you're burning your hair to death. Our curls signify how healthy our hair is and if you burn them off like that it's just as bad as the relaxer some of us want to avoid in our hair.

  • @ericapopularr: get it girl, i personally like my perms cuz my thick course hair is ridiculous to deal with natural. :) lol

  • I agree thats why I hate watching hair tutorials cuz ppl put all this crap in their hair and its not healthy

  • with a relaxer... my hair refused to be straight!!! i have kinky curly sexy riglets and the relaxer i used on my hair not only had it unhealthy...but it hid my beauty!

now flashfoward 3 years later....my hair is healthy and long! shira got me to go natural...thank god! lol

i get asked am i mixed all the time...just because i have healthy shiny...curly natural hair?! im 10,000.9 % black! lol isnt it funny? i tired sooo hard to hide my curls...its such a shame!

    ~thanks shira!

  • Talk to MUCH!

  • @MsMilt0wn Luckily YT made a button that allows you to fast forward the video. You see the button moving?

  • ur awesome gurll :)

  • it depend on what type of hair you have to use different type of product, it doesnt matter what syle you doin to...as long as you dnt bulk it up with gells

  • iotn depend on what type of hair you have to use different type of product, it doesnt matter what syle you doin to...as long as you dnt bulk it up with gells

  • As always, Love your video here and all of them. You;re so Beautiful and have great energy :)

  • I know this vid is old, but how can someone train their hair to be curly. There's no way you can do that without chemicals.

  • @BRNanBeautiful

i have natural curls like shirley temples... condioner EVERY DAY.....then put LEAVE IN CONDITIONER.try the pink one from sunsilk. or like anything thats thick-ish ...apply to towel kinda damp hair.not drippy. comb it then let it b.dont move ur hair jst let it b.dont run ur fingers thru it bcus itll frizz it up.your curls will start to form and itheyll stay. if ur dnt mess them up by running ur fingers thru them.and ur done.let it.just airdry.

  • you made your videos funny. i love how you educate with sass and sense of humor.

  • honey i almost have the same dryer as you.. mine is from conair 1875 watts style is the same design as yours but your is ion shine right? do u think my blowdryer is as good as yours...

  • DOMINICANS ARE BLACK PEOPLE WITH SPANISH ACCENTS

PLEASE, BLACK PEOPLE IN AMERICA, STOP HATING ON YOUR OWN PEOPLE!!!

  • I wouldn't use your techniques but I enjoy watching you. Sorry if that sounds creepy lol

  • Lmaoo,You Are Hilariouss !

    LOVE Your Attitude.

  • lol i could watch you all day and great tutorial!

  • lol i could watch you all day you are funny and great tuturial!

  • I LOVE YOU!!!

  • love it hun

  • my hair is nothing like yours! It's super thick, super coarse, and if I had it in it's natural state (no perm) and wet after washing.......LOL No Way!

  • OMG watchin' ur channel i'm getting smarter everyday! I can't wait to try this technique. good job!

  • k lo k

  • LMAO!

  • the "Egyptians" do this also. they say they are Egyptian but i think they are Arabs , lol

  • PLS ORDER A SASSY SWAG SILK HAIR WRAP...GOD BLESS!

  • My brothers wife hair is stiff and its all kinds of layers and doesnt move at all!...She uses heavy products and relaxes too soon too much!

  • haha i'm dominican and this is how my mom taught me how to do it.

  • Shira, you just saved me like 150 bucks. I thought my Sedu iron wasn't really good, and I decided to buy a GHD. Turns out I just needed to straighten smaller sections of hair, most of the time I didn't even need to pass the iron 3 times. Thanks, girl!

  • I'm from L.A. & was wondering what makes this "Dominican"? Salons out here put the brush under the hair while blow drying- that's the only diff i can see. Also would a comb attachment be easier instead of a brush since ur gonna flat iron it anyway?

  • HAHAH "BLAST IT OUT LETS GO" I LOVE IT

  • I still wanna know why it's called a relaxer. More like a shocker. It shocks your hair into the new whatever. Mine got shocked into weird plastic looking doll hair with children's relaxer & timing for fine hair. So it's like what? A chemically induced nervous breakdown for your hair?

Researched and the JHS? It's a str8 Jherri Curl. Apparently it's the same chemical but with a flat iron thrown in. Crazy.

  • what about air dry

  • lol mine a fro 2 lol

  • you are funny and thank you :)

  • you are funny and thank you :)

  • I love your hair .

  • lol this is no where near healthier all that damn heat

  • @dadaboo08 maybe not...but i have very healthy hair...i think it has not much to do with amount of heat rather than where u choose to put it and for how long and whether or not it's repeated...the dominicans use more heat than this but yet when you leave your hair is shiner than a brand new penny...always

  • @SugarFreeTV oh ma I wasn't trying to be rude or anything i'm just saying has a african american women that use to abusive heat that's alot Heat take the moisture out of your hair which can cause breakage, it may look good but in the long run it can also cause damage, and yes I know about the Dominican salons i use to go every 2 weeks, but your hair looks great BTW

  • @SugarFreeTV

i agree with you i been getting hot comb press every since a kid and ppl said i was going to be bald i still have long hair up to this day natural no perm ever in my life maybe that heat helps lol plus i only get press once a month and lots of oil

  • @dadaboo08 u must know nothing about hair chic

  • You come across very aggressive.

    but very informative video

  • LOL. "and their hair stays right there even though they're not there anymore." had me rollin!!! love this!

  • egyptian people were originaly black fyi.we were first every where

  • Girl I love ur videos. U are a trip. Great sense of humor. Keep it up.

  • I agree a lot with what you said in this video. Unfortunately...there are tons of myths within the "black" hair care area. I would say the majority (who leave neg comments) believe that washing the hair more than once a week is damaging. My friend from high school "biracial" only washes her hair 1x every 2 months and told me that my hair will fall out if i washed more than that.

I love people like you and others on youtube that clearly shows these myths are not true,

  • i love U girl..i love when you said "for ur whole hair?...'Yes CRAZY'"..that was funny.!

  • not hating on the dominicans But they did not create the blow dry, I have been doing this since the 80's, dominicans just do it faster and cheaper. Texture is everything no matter what product you use. Relaxers are fine if done properly and professionally. Lets not knock one process for another. Its all good, ppl with jacked up hair have either done it themselves or have the wrong hairdresser. simple as that:):) but luv the vid...funny

  • @wendyrm5 But a relaxer doesn't actually help the hair and why get it and take away the versatility you have in it already? :P

  • @KTBEverlasting truth

  • @wendyrm5 probably not but i just know if it this way

  • girl u r keeping it real ...thanks so much ur video just helped a poor college student out !!!!lol thanks

  • lmao 4:30 "What is this?!"

  • I no longer put relaxers in my hair, they REALLY mess up your hair no matter what hair type you have.

  • OMG YOU VE GOTTEN THE POINT ACROSS YOU ARE MY FUCKIN TWIN!!LMAO

  • I love your personality! haha. Great video and tips. Even tho i'm not dominican, I hopethis works!

  • DOMINICANOS!!!

  • Your funny............lol:)

  • Love it! Stopping perms does make ur hair much more healthy. Hopefully people will listen to you.

  • 4:30 Had My Friend And I DYING LAUGHINNNNNG. But Great Technique !

  • sorry my comment can so many times

  • i have curly hair kinda wazy like a z, i had gotten my hair peremed and have an inch or two of un permed hair. i was wondering if there is a product or somthing that could help me get the un permed hair curly again without cutting it all and curly perm

  • i have small curls/waves more z ish shaped but i had my hair permed so only an inch or two is curly wavy is there some thing i can do to make the permed part of my hair curly again or some way i can train my hair to be curly again or products but i dont want to cut it all off or get a curl perm

  • i have small curls/waves more z ish shaped but i had my hair permed so only an inch or two is curly wavy is there some thing i can do to make the permed part of my hair curly again or some way i can train my hair to be curly again

  • u are funny. How do you pick your blow dryer?

  • @msaasha girl idk i just picked a cheap one lol

  • I so fucking love it!!!!

Im cutting my relaxed hair off

I was being foolish ugh. . .Im 18 i've been natural 17yrs ive never had a problem with my hair i love it

  • Oh my god you had me fricking laughing all over the dam place. I had to subcribe.

  • Nice vid. I like goin to the dominicans, but i would have to disagree about the product part. I have to have some kinda light oil in my hair. I hate for my hair let alone anyones hair lookin dry and frizzy when i walk out tha shop. i like my hair to shine and i use serem or oil ( never grease). N i think people w/ coarser hair need some type of oil n def more than they r usin in the shop. I think some1 using a pea size amount on some1 w/ long hair is not enough.I dont have coarse hair at all.

  • @LJ07186 idk but i barely use any...take a look at some of my vids where i have long hair....my hair is naturally so healthy that it shines...and i have curly hair... i barely use product

  • lol you are maddddddddddddd funny---but i love your vids =]

  • @becxstanator08 thanks!

  • if i curl my hair with rollers will my hair become more curly

  • @candykissezz135 do u have curly hair or straight hair?

  • @candykissezz135 also...if the rollers=tighter than the curls you have naturally=yes...otherwise....no

  • omg honey you are so funny i have sholder lenth hair last year i got it cut to my ear., anyway its so funny how you cant remeber the names if stuff

  • I love the dominican blow out but that shit burns like hell

  • @killashy112 what do u mean? sitting under the hood? yes that burns

  • my blow out turned out great despite the fact my head was like hurting like hell,

  • gurl, my hair is 4b them dominicans had me crying when i was sitting in the chair.

  • but how did it end up?

  • you're entertaining

  • thanks!

  • Nice video.....diffuser is for curl definition though (it is the big round thing with a lot of holes at the end), I think you are using the word concentrator nozzle interchangeably with diffuser but great tips in your vid thanx.

  • i said diffuser? oops

  • hey (im a hairstylist) i do agree with you that anyone can be natural........... but you can have a relaxer&healthy hair if you balance not too much heat dnt relax too often remeber to take care of your hair not just "get it done" i see natural ladies with damage also because this "healthy heat" thing (using ceramics) NO HEAT IS HEALTHY!!!! love the fact that you teach viewers about haircare . thanks :)

  • yay!

  • Hi!!!!! Love the vidoes by the way-What is the easiest way to switch from relaxed hair to natural? Ive been getting relaxers since I was about five-Im almost 26 now. Help Me!!!!!!!

  • lol honestly to cut off all the weave, BUT since you probably may no want to do that...just cut it off in increments as you continue to do styles that help u transition (buns, weaves, braids, etc) and u can begin straightening this way which is healthy

  • LOL! The part about the perm and the stiffness was so funny because my bestfriend and I use to talk about having that all the time. You're hair never moves lol. Now we are both currently transitioning to natural.

    You are so funny lol

  • lol thanks

  • I really love watching u b/c u r hilarious BUT everyone has different hair. Yes perms can damage your hair but it all depends on what type of hair u have and the upkeep . My sister has wavy hair and did the natural thing but it was too much work for her, so now she gets perms and her hair is stil healthy&long. Ateeya, on youtube, has beautiful ,bouncy hair and it too is permed. Perms aren't for everyone, i know this, i just think it's wrong to generalize all ppl w/ perms b/c it's unrealistic.

  • i don't think i'm generalizing...it's proven to be the most unhealthy thing you can do for your hair. now, if you still have hair after u do it, that's great and do u.

i'm simply saying it is unhealthy and yes does leave a grey film on your underscalp. this is all proven.

if one would like to perm to keep from the extra work, by all means, i'm speaking for me and if anyone follows that's fine.

i appreciate your comment and what you say is true.

i just try to promote being natural

  • and i may add..if you have a lot of hair to begin with, this process won't be as detrimental. the truth is that even conditioner is harsh on the hair, to an extent.

i have done my best in life to try to make people see that who they were born is just fine, and really, don't need perms. it's simply society's way of dictating beauty...quite honestly...we weren't born with straight hair..this is why it is so difficult to keep up...

    just my personal preference

  • last (sorry for the novela). the dominican blowout method TRULY is so safe and quick and gets the same if not better results. yes, i realize no one has the $ for it or sometimes are not easily accessible BUT my hair has never looked better and i have always had a lot of long hair...

perhaps there are people with perms who no hair falls out...i can def. say that...but then i guess this vid can't apply to them

  • shira wat do u think about that new brush/flat iron...god i cannot remember the name of it right now but i'd love to know ...there it is..instyler...have u ever used it?

  • i've not used it yet

  • Darlin. I know this is from May, but a diffuser diffuses the air so it is not concentrated. barely feel the air so that isn't what you are talking about and I know you know. the nozzle directs the air to one area. Love ya!

  • thanks!

  • lol ur funny i like how u looked at da blowdryer and said wat is dis? lol

  • lol

  • whats the name of the brush u used in video? did u getit on line. I don't in an area that sell nice soft brushs. I just started this tecnique and I would like to purchase a brush like ypurs. Thanks!!!

  • which brush the soft one? i've had the soft one for years so i don't know but a boar hair brush will work...

  • LOL! I like you :3 Thanks for the video, girl!

  • no prob!

  • this is how dominicanas do it lol;; i gotta get me a blowout manana

    love thee vid chicaa =]

  • they do it well

  • Lol, you're great.

&& you're hair is AMAZING. I subbed immediately.

    Very informative. =).

  • thanks!

  • hey i hear you playing after 7 in the back ground i am listening to that song as i watch you...on low!!

  • lol

  • i like u, u funny. i subbed

  • thanx!

  • Haha. I love this video!

  • thank u

  • i'm so anti-perm.... love this vid. will give it a try.

  • yay!

  • So your saying if i straighten my hair more often instead of relaxing it, it would start to grow out of my hair straight? or do you mean like it will be more easier to flat iron? i have 4b hair so idk if it would work for me. help! lol

  • i AM saying that as you straighten it...the hairs get "used" to the "relaxed" form that they are in...so YES the hair that is already grown out will relax easier BUT if you do it properly (sectioning and using small pieces...aka...taking your time) but yes, even you this will work for.

one of my friends i have to layer at least 10 times (for me only 7) and even she had trouble "curling" it after a while

  • what are you mixed with if anything

  • african american and black lol

  • lmao

  • what was the nail of the oil you named and where can i purchaes. how do i blow dry my own hair using the round brush tec.? i found it very awkard when i attempted to do it at home. any tips

  • tips: i'll have to make a tutorial on it!

  • I love your video!!! You are so correct!!!!!

  • thanx!

  • she's funny but good advice

  • thank u

  • Are u dominican?

  • no ma'am :0

  • OMG...You got me trippin' (you are too funny) But guess what: you are hella informative.... "Blast it up; lets go!" LOL

  • lol thanx

  • hmmm...why delete??

  • delete? i'm confused... i will watch your vid tho...

  • lol thanx

  • Love the nail polish...what brand and color is that?

  • idk it's just white lol u can buy "blanc" by essie

  • Ohhh ok..it looks peachy in the vid.

  • oh no it's white girl!

  • Hey, Shir,

So, true. But, girl I can straighten my hair (naturally) until I sweat or a little water get on it then it's "power to the ppl" all over again. You're right we're too obsessed with getting our hair straight. I've come to accept the fact that my hair will never have that Indian shine to it or be as straight as someone wht. Yeah, I must stick with 4 products. Right now I have a gazillion and still buying more. Yeap, their making money off this blk woman.

  • i agree....so u know i like to keep it natural until i need to change it up in which case i really map out the weather and also my workout plans it's intense

  • @SugarFreeTV ooops! sorry! I was just reading the comments and i accidentally thumb down this comment!!!

  • Your so right! I used to iron my hair straight everyday. Noone knew I had curly hair, they thought my hair just dried straight. Yes, it was that serious. Now that I went natural and embraced my curly hair I cant get it straight all the way to save my life. Keep up the good work, girly!

  • yay!

  • True fact about your Nigerian friend? She does the exact same thing?

  • she does the EXACT same thing....except, she has thicker hair so it takes longer, and sometimes it requires more heat or smaller sections, but yeah, never had any perm to my knowledge

  • I used to straighten my hair too much and some of it ended up stuck straight. But that hair didnt last long it broke off in a few weeks haha

  • uh oh lol

  • yayy 4 no perms!

  • You know what is funny to me my hair does that shit all the time yet i find it impossible to grow out the relaxer because the middle of my hair is so broken off. Help! I am half Colombian and half Haitian and its just hard without a relaxer. Maybe I need trims more often cuz growing out a relaxer is a job. When i was a kid it was better though.

  • i have a hair care series..u should check it out...it may help ur questions!

  • girl you are too funny. Everytime I see that short stiff hair, I'm going to think of your description- "your friends", "sheet of paper" and "no move-ability", with the hand gesture. Oh my goodness, that was too damn, funny!!!!!

  • lol

  • Adore your tutorials by the way!!!

  • thank u

  • Hello, I want to transition from relaxed hair to not using a relaxer without cutting the already relaxed hair off. Do you think this is possible?

  • yes...there are tons of vids on it and i'm supposed to do one...drats! it'll be here soon

  • I tell people all the time to stop putting so much product in their hair. Most of my black girl friends are on some "is that for black people's hair" stuff and think that because they are black they need 10 products just to put their hair in a ponytail lol. I just wash it condition it and if I want to flat iron it, put heat protectant on it.

  • LOL I love you!! Hair is supposed to move! Not look like it's in motion and you sitting still. CLASSIC.

Oh and that was funny when you showed how people flat iron, because I let this girl use my flat iron and I have a really good one, I saw her hair and I was thinking "Did she use it?" LOL She clearly ran though big sections once and was done lol.
