A lot of British fans here seem to be upset that Marriott didn't turn out like Paul Weller, i.e. still obsessed with his hairstyle and clothes beyond the years of his youth. But I think you're fundamentally overlooking what kind of personality Steve was. He wasn't in the least bit self-conscious, this is what made him such a charismatic presence in front of an audience. To be concerned with what you look like all the time requires a degree of self-consciousness that he simply didn't have.

Yes it does break every fans heart. We have to remember that the guy was a one off and at least we can still listen to his music. Nearly twenty years after his death he is still the greatest unsung hero of the rock and roll world and always will be!!! Thanks Steve you will always bring a smile to my face.

kanemura93 cont-The dungarees were hideous and he knew it BUT his true fans and I include myself as I saw the Small Faces live and have followed Steve's voice and talent ever since will not be put off. I hate how he looks he even has a hideous haircut another way of detracting but his voice, spirit and talent are too good to miss. I am sad that he died too soon and on the verge of a reunion with Peter Frampton. The airwaves are the sadder without any new music from this exceptional talent.

Tundraclap - watch and listen to Steve with his first band The Small Faces - in particular Tin Soldier - he will blow you away as will the whole band - they are all terrific. I saw them in 1965 and have always listened to him including this. I have rebought some of the small faces on line and have loaded them to my iPod shuffle as I only have the 45s and LPs - old stuff now and well worn out. You won't be disappointed. Alison

It depresses me the thought that there is no musicians like steve around these days, and probably never will. I'm too young to have experienced them first hand when they were still around, but I can try my hardest to cling onto any great sounds I find.

kanemura93 -Steve as I am sure you will know was the lead singer with the Small Face-1965ish and was fashionable for the time. However, Steve only ever wanted to be known for his music and as time went on he broke away from the Small Faces, as you know and formed Humble Pie and so on. It is my opinion that he particulary wanted to disassociate himslef from 'looking good, looking cute, looking anything really' because he only wanted people to listen/watch him for his music only.

Thank God this one exists!! Marriott was one of the most talented and underrated artists in the genre. Saw him twice. I've missed him. This guy could blow off every hair band of the eighties, grunge band of the nineties and all the heavy rockers that followed. Truly superb and unique. And thank BloozeRockJunky for posting it.
