Sailor Moon The Movie (Independent Short) Review

I was sort of expecting a comedical movie like a sketch of what the original Live accion was like but I actually adored that! they were very professional and very modernized it's not over the top and over all I enjoyed how they potrayed the caracters so well! and yes we fangirls squeeled over Darien! HOW CAN WE NOT!? to summ it up: THEY SHOULD MAKE THE ENTIRE MOVIE! cause it's so great and so well written and so amazing! great to re-live one of the greatest heroines of our childhood

When I heard about this I was skeptical. I mean, I wasn't even all that impressed by the Japanese live action and that was professionally done, studios and everything. This was a fan-made film. So you can guess what I expected. Boy was I surprised. I was mainly impressed by the amazing amount of effort put into this. The actors were ACTING! No, they weren't just acting, they had completely assumed their roles and it's impossible to separate actor from character. Awesome job, I hope you make more

It was very good indeed. However, it did looked a bit rushed, as I've noticed they had to make it short in the later scenes. It had a low budget, and at some moments (particularly the escape moment from the police) I've noticed the limitations of the special effects. Another minor problem is some of the camera work during the introduction, that could have improved a bit perhaps. It gave me the sensation that it was moving, thus reminding me of the budget limitations again.

its ok, because they were american actors i think "molly" should have been used instead of "naru". especially considering the fact they used "melvin" instead of "umino". i'll continue to watch it for the mean time

I LOVED this movie!!! There are a LOT of new fanfilms coming out circling around Sailor Moon and coming from a fan that has watched Sailor Moon since she was in middle school (I'm now 29 years old), I am so excited about this! It's great to see that a new generation is getting Sailor Moon like we were and I hope to see more and more people liking it! Great review btw!!

Yeah, the movie was great. I will admit, I'm not a super hardcore Sailor Moon fan (I've seen a few episodes of it) but I still really liked this movie, so that shows that even semi-newcomers can still like it.

Oh, and I bought one of those SM bracelets from Hot Topic last week! They're really nice! :3

I loved it. Nearly 100%. I only had a bit of a problem with some of the audio quality, but overall it was amazing! The music was so great, the actors were nearly perfect, and the graphics were superb! <3 Luna looks a little odd, but she is an Alien cat from another planet. It suits her xD And I love the modernization. Making her swear gave me a few laughs, and the transformation was really cool! I wish the henshin, and the film in general, were a bit longer, but in all it was fantastic! <3333333

i enjoyed it the only thing i didnt like is that they didnt know if they should stick to the manga names the jap version or english version for example they called usagi bunny but then molly naru which is her real name but then call umino melvin it was abit of annoyance to me i felt they should pick one over the other thats my opinion on that but all in all it was pretty awesome

I did enjoy the movie but I kept in mind that this is a "low" budget film being interpreted by someone who is not affliated with Toei, Bandai, or Naoko Takeuchi herself - so I was expecting changes. I do think there is a lot of room for improvement but this is a great start and definitely an achievement for an independant crew as well.

I left a comment on your facebook concerning my pros and cons to this film. ^^ My biggest issue though was with the model for Luna. The model was hideous.

I had a few issues with it, but it wasn't my vision of Sailor Moon so I can't really complain much.While I loved the actress who played Beryl, I felt she didn't deliver her lines right. She seems perfect for the role though and I think it was more the sound effects that made her hard to understand.

I also had trouble understanding Luna, and her eyes seemed to shift colors.I can't wait for the story to continue. Rather than call it the Movie, I think they should make a it a series.

Overall I really liked it, though some of the acting was a little bit cheesy throughout. Sounded like when I was doing plays in middle school. lol I DEFINITELY want to see more tho! Can't call it a movie when you don't get to the end! So this is just part 1. ^-^

Yeah I agree with everything you said in the video. They did a great job! Their special effects were great! I cried in the beginning. The music, Serenity crying, Endymion going to meet his death. All in all I hope they continue it made my night when I saw it!

I liked it and visually it was incredible, the effects and costumes were fantastic but I was also slightly disapointed. The credits were too long (especially the end ones) and for me there wasn't enough story in it. I hope there is more if only so we get some more characters and plot. I didn't have too much trouble understanding Luna and Beryl but I found that Luna looked kinda creepy

I thought it was pretty amazing, but I'm not 100% sold on it. I did a review of it on my blog (which YT doesn't like links in comments, I guess?) but overall, I'm pleased, though I'd want to see more detail. Webisodes sounds like a good idea, if they can't do a longer, feature-length film.

I thought it looked great. I like how Sailor Moon's hair color was that silvery white color, which we see in some of Takeuchi's drawings. The costume looked good without looking rubbery like PGSM. If Japanese Mamoru turned into American Darien, I think this Uhas guy is who he would look like. Hopefully they can proceed and show us more to their vision of Sailor Moon. Be sure to watch their behind the scenes, production clips if you haven't already.

I thought it turned out amazing. A lot of time was put into it, and on a technical standpoint I'm impressed with what they've accomplished for an amateur short. I had a harder time hearing Luna than Beril, but I think my only complaint was that I really wasn't feeling Tux. It could've been the acting, or maybe his dialogue, but he just didn't grab me as believable like the others. Those are minor issues compared to how awesome the overall thing was.
