I find it ironic that on the PS1, Ryotaro Okiayu handled two characters with panache that were flawed in some form or another when dubbed in English (I usually never find a flaw in casting or scripts in English or Japanese), Zero here and Alucard in Castlevania.

@jkaitz866 The main purpose ( I think...) is to control the Zero's power. In the ending of Bass in Megaman PowerBattle 2, Dr. Willy said that Zero was too powerfull and dangerous, so he isolated him for a time to try "fix" this problem.

@666blaziken Zero was the original carrier of the 'Sigma Virus' when Sigma broke Zero's forhead gem at 2:56 he released the virus, transfering it to himself, and knocking zero out in the process. Zero was then taken back with him to be studied, and from there they were able to re-program Zero's 'personality'. No one knew till it was too late about how the virus was really started, which is why it was named 'The Sigma Virus', and not 'The Zero Virus'

Ok, even the animators messed this up, Zero in his X 1 sprites didn't have his green chest lights, but he has them here before he got rebuilt with them, they got his shoulders right, but why not his chest?

@Limexis If I am not mistaken in Zero's official artwork he has those chest lights/orbs, I do recall them not being present on his X1 sprite however. They at least based it correctly off his artwork :P

It was explained in the Dr. Cain logs, that Dr. Cain couldn't replicate the internal designs of X because they were too complicated and the tech to analyze him wasn't made yet. Now that they both call themselves reploids is "wrong" because of that explanation maybe they call themselves like that because they dont feel "different"

The spiky and long haired design was going to be the new megaman, but still was going to be X, The radical design was scrapped in favour of the more traditional, and since inafune was fond of that new creation, he added his own "Mary Sue", on his own words.
