This is so so biased! Vasectomy is an acceptable birth control option for many many men - around the world! This is a pharma company at its worst - are you kidding? Not funny - vasectomy is safer and easier for men than a tubal sterilization of any kind for women!
@acrovador Essure is much better than old fashioned tubal ligation, but this, as well as Conceptus' website, is clearly designed to catch the eye of a man contemplating vasectomy and push him to then push his partner to get this instead. Not more cost effective, not faster, not less invasive and definitely not safer.
@acrovader - Of course vasectomy is less painful and less invasive... not to mention FAR less expensive. These inserts cost $1300 - alone - not to mention paying the doctor and an equally pricey follow up test. You can get a vasectomy plus follow up for $400. They don't mention the follow up for Essure is inserting a catheter into the uterus and doing fluoroscopy with dye. Follow up for vasectomy? Deposit into a cup, please.
I am 32 and I had my vasectomy when i was 25. I was covered under insurance and the copay was 10.00. I knew very early i didn't want to have kids...nor do i want the pressure of risking pregnancy because i want to have sex. Women are just and if not more calculating when it comes to pregnancy as most view young men as a "sperm donor" or "business decision" after a man hits 25. If you don't want kids guys...get snipped. It will save you 200K in unwanted child support.
It wasn't so bad having it done. Worse part was the dr. had his nurse assistant in to watch how it was done. She had to handle the parts while he cut. Biggest worry was an erection
Only wait so long for him to "man up." What is this? A Miller light commercial? I find it so annoying that the formula these days for appealing to a female audience is to a)make fun of or belittle the male sex or b)show them in pain.
The camera is looking right at them at eye-level. There's no way they're able to watch a video with a camera in their face and lights shining at their face. Vasectomies aren't that bad. Had mine 2 years ago and it was nothing.
@cheesefood You can tell by the camera movements that it's hand-held. So they have a cameraman sitting directly in front of them and they're supposedly looking at a video where the camera man is?
@TheRealMidori well using your logic, I might as well get divechi vineers to replace my teeth because I dont like waisting time brushing my teeth 2-3 times a day. getting a vasectomy is an extreame solution to a simple problem. a problem with two solutions.
A-use a condom. (guys AND girls should always have one.)
or
B- dont open your fucking legs if your not on the pill.
its really fucking simple.
friends can pressure me to smoke weed and if i do smoke is it their fault is it if smoked?
I think any woman that wants an abortion, or has an abortion, should have the Essure procedure. If a woman is so dead set against bringing a child into the world should be sterilized. Why let it get to an abortion when she could take preemptive steps like getting her tubes tied?
@acrovader Because it's a dangerous, invasive, irreversible procedure? Do you have a vasectomy?
Btw 61% of women who have abortions have kids. Exercising your right to bodily autonomy isn't being "dead set against bringing a child into the world." Women have abortions for a whole variety of reasons.
If I had to watch video of my own vasectomy, I would probably cringe... Fact is, from personal experience, a vasectomy is slightly uncomfortable at worst. I had typical male anxiety going into the procedure (there is gonna be a knife at the 'boys'! Yikes!). But really guys, the docs know what they are doing and a vasectomy is nearly painless and only takes about 10 minutes. Besides, what a great excuse to have 20+ ejaculations before you are tested zero-count - be creative with your lady :)
These guys are complete wussies. I did my vas back in '98 and it wasn't that big of a deal. In fact, 2 days later I was working a disaster recovery operation in Atlanta after a tornado hit north of downtown. Guys, you have the balls, why not stand up and do what's right.
@ 5swanmaiden - you are so right! Cheap, lousy move by Conceptus aimed at men searching for info on vasectomy. Essure is NOT less painful, is NOT more successful, does NOT have a lower complication rate and is MUCH MUCH MUCH more expensive. Shame on this company!
@melikeyeso You are absolutely wrong, on all accounts. I don't know where you get your "information". You seem pretty close minded to the prospect that there is an alternative procedure for women that is less invasive and less painful than vasectomy. I bet you think men are OBLIGATED to vasectomies. You need to get your head out of the sand, baby.
@acrovader Twice as many tubal ligations happen a year vs vasectomies. Obviously women are considering alternative procedures to vasectomies. Why not vice versa?
I thought this video was funny at first, until I realized what it was an advertisement for. "Your man doesn't want to have a vasectomy, so you should go through a relatively new, likely painful medical procedure instead."
@5swanmaiden Why should the man have a vasectomy when Essure is less invasive and less painful? You sound pretty close minded and insistent on men having vasectomies.
@acrovader I'm not insistent on other people doing anything at all--I think people should do what's best for them as people. The issue comes when an advertiser tries to guilt a person into using their product because they claim their significant other wouldn't go through a different procedure.
I got a vasectomy a little over two years ago and it's really not that bad. It's a little uncomfortable for a few days, but it heals up pretty quickly. How about men be men and take some responsibility if you know that you don't any more children (or any at all) rather than putting the onus on women.
@101798121970 Who says that Essure isn't the cheapest, safest, and best option for women who don't want any more children? Wow. Something less painful, less invasive than a vasectomy? Who would've thought?!?!

Let's face it,
when it comes to funerals, loved ones just can't seem to suck it up.
when it comes to being informed of the death of your child, some people cry.
when it comes to eating fast food, well, there's plenty of videos floating around here with all the gory details.
when it comes to watching a video of a medical procedure on some random guys groin, some guys feel a bit uncomfortable.
-
Obviousness is obvious.
"This video of this guy's innards is great!" <- Nobody says that...I hope.

@raschknits do u know what he should do?
he should tell u to FUCK OFF. then u get mad at him and don't have sex. it's equally effective ;)

@jzer21 You know, I agree with this. It's a huge peeve of mine. But this ad's still pretty funny.
Something about hearing a really old, tired joke told in an original way, I guess.

@TheRealMidori oh yeah because the VAST MAJORITY of unwanted pregnances come from FORCED SEX.
usally a female cant force a male to have sex (altho it has happend befor.)

@5swanmaiden Yeah, like women haven't henpecked their husbands into having a vasectomy by using the 'guilt' card, also.
I think you are afraid that innovations in birth control, like Essure, might make vasectomies obsolete.
