  • Wow, That Water Treatment Plant looks dirty.

  • I love how they used all these big techy words when simple works such as "pipe" could be used :D

  • STEPHEN CARL MURPHY

  • Smith hexagonal water plant

    What is Hexagonal Water

Structured Water:Its healing effects on the diseased state

    Efficacy of structured water

    Hexagonal Water enhances metabolic efficiency

Detoxifying the body to heal pathogenic and metabolic diseases

  • why do people care who monitors what they do? god and santa claus did that since the beginning of time.

  • thanks

  • thanks

  • I am a big fan of Google.. Great job!!!!

  • with global warming and rising water levels in oceans it would be a good idea to divert water to deserts and places like Africa i know it would be a major project and take many years but it could be done . Libya are doing something similar with there great man made river

  • @paul417791

or u could throw it all down to melbourne, Australia... we still have water restrictions... sigh

  • how hard would it actually be to build a water pipe line from the pacific ocean to the edge of Africa we build gas pipes and oil pipes 1000s of miles why dont we all just chip in and build the poor fuckers a water pipe. we spends probably more dropping bombs on them

  • @paul417791 It would be hard to get that water there but you wouldn't be able to drink it... you can't drink sea water!

  • @paul417791 I agree with the gist of your statement, but it has nothing to do with the video, so... VOTED DOWN!

but seriously, i agree with your simplistic, poorly phrased, misplaced, but otherwise heartfelt statement.

  • im from the u.k and my drinking water has a very pungent smell of chlorine i very rarely drink it from the tap. i drink it mostly in tea and coffee after been boiled

  • @paul417791

enjoy your hot chlorine tea... lol

    XD

    j/k

  • dang. So they actuay need to siphon off a river in order to cool their servers?! Dang

  • Wooooooow Very interesting

  • oh!

  • so yopur telling me my shite flows down a canal ??

  • wait, if google is a youtube partner, isn't that an oxymoron? doesn't that mean they pay themselves?

  • how about you STOP SPAMMING CRAP LIKE THAT you fucking retard. if you did it to upset people, you are a worthless piece of crap, if you did it coz you believe it you are just retarded. Either way you don't deserve a YT account. It's people like you that stopped anyone posting on the Internet and made accounts necessary. Retard

  • The factory is built on a foundation that is earthquake safe.

  • hmm i agree

    veryy interesting

  • Brilliant... But, Energy well spent? Yes or No?

  • of course yes

  • why not? i bet numbers like 100000L of clean water/kilowatt show.

  • lol watercooling FTW

  • Cameron why r u balled and ugly

  • I think BRITA could do a better job.

  • Google is like the cool rich kid in school who actually is your friend

  • Best analogy ever! lol

  • @Patriotfrosh15 but monitors everything you do.

  • @Patriotfrosh15

in China everything is like that. We are lightyears ahead of USA technology

  • Comment removed

  • @TheSunmanho Interesting because China lacks an high-tech industry and is strictly low-tech manufacturing. They import high-tech from other countries such as Japan, U.S and Russia. Did you learn that from your television broadcast which in the past has been known to show fake footage such as fighter jet footage from movies? Also Why does most of the Chinese population immigrate to U.S or Russia if your so light years advance of the U.S.

  • @cortezawwris

Actually, you may be surprised to know that China is actually starting to increase its' high-tech jobs, and in some cases is actually starting to export the manual labor to america(I'm remembering an article on a high tech solar cell company operating in china; forget which one specifically). Doesn't mean the capacity is particularly distributed, but it is starting to get there. I don't agree it's light years or even ahead in general though.

  • i think should look at sacred geometry and starting a new computer language more efficient, anyone done some research one this topic???

  • Servers need cold air to remain healthy, then why don't nerd's remain healthy by SWITCHING OFF THE PC AND going out to have some health sun light....

  • bcs, if we switch of all of our pc's, powercompanys wouldnt expect this, and as they expect us to come home and powerup, theyll turn on another turbine, but if were not powering up our computers, that would cause a major voltage peak, destroying all other electronis, and if we stop consuming a fuckload of power theyll eventually get in trouble bcs they dont get enough profit, what will cause them to make the power prices higher, causing the crisis to grow, so...

  • No Google severs in Australia then.. =)

  • Google now has over 500,000 computers to keep the website up and running and they are now installing another 100,000 every 3 months. they gonna need alot more water, but still i wish we had as much water as google has in brisbane here, WE GOING DRY AHHH!!!! google should share some te he :P

  • Muchas gracias por compartir. :D

  • Is it really cheaper for them to build a treatment plant than to just purchase municipal water?

  • yes of course

  • in the long run both financially and environmentally - yes.

  • Drinking water is held to a more stringent standard than Google requires so yes in the long run it would be cheaper for Google to build a plant.

  • nicevideo, good job

  • It would be nice to see something even half as efficient in water purification erected in a third world country where they must use the sewage contaminated water for cooking and drinking.

  • complicated

at least some big corporations are going green

  • Admitedly it is a little disappointing. I wonder if part of the reason is because the video is part of a conference that was given in California, so it's not too surprising they use feet instead of meters.

But on top of that I would suspect they use feet instead of meters because they they design their facilities around the use of standardised ITU containers, which contain all of their server racks. These containers are measured in feet, and as such that which is designed around them are too.

  • Part of googles 'Take over the world' plan.

This will prove to be a great delicacy to the googles main quarters

  • hey, its a good thing they are from USA!

  • re: Epityr1 > muahahaaa! :D lol everything is going all according to plan...

  • wait im confused, why does Google need a water treatment plant?

  • Google is in the business of archiving all of the world's websites, and also serving millions of users every second. All this requires massive computer/server horsepower. All these mighty computers / servers are stored in a data centre, which is a massive matrix like farm. When these machines run they generate lots of heat and need to be constantly cooled down. Water cooling is effective, and clean water makes an even more effective coolant. Hence the water treatment plant. :-)

  • Ahh so a form of large-scale water cooling, not unlike that used in enthusiast PCs.

Thanks, makes perfect sense now =)

  • Admittedly, it would have been nice if they had setup the video just a little bit by explaining why they would need such massive quantities of water. It isn't going to be very obvious to too many people.

  • To keep the server cool, 1000 severs or more in 1 room, it can get really hot and over heat without the cold water, And the massive quantities left over is a buffer zone to keep it running .

  • Servers and computers in general get very hot. Google has 400,000+ servers and increasing scattered around datacentres around the world. To cool the rooms of servers you need water, lots of it (similar principle to air con?). I guess instead of buying water supply they want to try recycling to help the environment and save money in the long run. Hats of to them.

  • cool

  • OMFG

  • Where in Belgium is this?

  • its in cali

  • the first line of the video is "in our Data Center in Belgium..."

  • Google's main headquarters (and where this video was originally presented) are in California, but as gorillazbmx points out this specific facility is in Belgium. They have facilities all over the globe (part of their overall philosophy of redundancy).

Try actually watching the video next time. One should always strive to not embarrass one's self by spreading false information. Always question your assumptions; never assume that what you "know" isn't an assumption.

  • Near the Nimy - Blaton Canal, closer to Nimy and near Mons. I actually have no idea where any of those places are, I just googled it.

  • Comment removed

  • nice

  • it seems like a complex set up.

  • It's actually more simple than most water treatment, Google isn't quite going for potable, just clean enough that it doesn't gunk up the pipes and keeps the servers nice and cool.

  • Nice :) Google ever!

  • You put "isolation gate valve" im a plumber, its either a "isolation valve" or "gate valve" its not both, simply because their the same thing.

  • I'm an engineer, it can be both an isolation valve AND a gate valve. It is a gate valve used to isolate the raw water supply line.

  • is this water treatment plant also a data center?

  • its used for cooling the data center

  • @Santiagosony why did you get so many likes just by stating the complete total obvious?

  • woot belgium ftw :D

  • i don't get it, what does this have to do with anything?

  • This was introoduced April 1st, this has April Fool's writtin all over it!

  • Yeah.. uh... what?

Huge server farm needs large supply of clean water, NO WAI!!!

you have fool written all over youself.

  • Google is like the cool rich kid in school who actually is your friend

  • GOOGLE IS THE SHIT!!!

  • 20,000 square feet? 30 feet? If this is Belgium, shouldn't this be expressed in square meters and meters? This is very concerning.

  • Yah, but Google is an American company, hence they use English.

  • Google is an American corporation.

  • Ummmm, Google is American.

  • Fascinating! Amazing!

  • Good work Google

  • any why in the world does google need this?

  • water cooling for their servers.

  • Water cooling for their servers and other equipment, such as generators that power the containers.

  • Industrial computing.

  • lol google has everything

  • this is why google rules!

  • lolololol hi googles awesome, we need more water treatment ppl like them.

  • Awesome

  • 20th!

  • 8th lol jk. sounds awesome

  • gosh people why do you care whos 1st???

  • NOO IM NOT 1ST! ;'(
