  • this is a total POS.

  • this sounds like shit if you run it through just about anything. if you run it direct into your computer (like he should have done.) it will sound tight. any amp ever will drastically change the tone of the eleven rack. just use it with pro tools for videos. thats kind of the purpose.

  • Hi, what are you running into right now? like speakers? or your amp?

  • Mitch,

When you use the Eleven Rack as a computer console are you using the physical unit or are you using the software? I guess this softwre is Mac & Windows both?

  • ANYTHING DIGITAL CAN'T EVER REPLACE THE GOOD OLD TRU SOUND ANALOG. THAT'S WHY I USE A GIGRIGPRO14!(one word) all the flexability of a digital mulieffect with the sound of analoge!!!

  • @bossgtdiez10 Best multi-FX I've ever played as far as amp models goes is my Zoom G9.2tt. I use it inside the four-cable method (guitar>pedal>preamp>pedal>poweramp) with a Peavey Classic 50 and I haven't encountered but one or two sounds I couldn't get quite right. It's a magician in a box. Sounds JUST like the amps, too. I've fooled everyone with that rig.

  • I love the fact that if you roll off the volume on your guitar, the tone cleans up and if you raise it and hit it hard, it overdrives. It reacts just like a real amp! This is the coolest thing about this bit of kit (and there are tonnes of cool things about it) if you ask me. It really makes the difference that it's not just 'on or off'.

  • @jjenkins134 Yeh, recent versions of Pro Tools (8.0.x) include Eleven Free, which has two decent'ish amps, I forget which ones. One's kind of vintage and the other's kind of metal, I guess. It's a decent plugin and a decent preview of the Rack.

It's a CPU hog though and the Rack is pretty sweet. I just got one and I'm keen to take it on stage as an effects processor, but it's great to be able to record good-sounding demos so easily with it as well. No substitute for recording a real amp though.

  • @UncleJoey12 Voodoo lab has been working with digidesign, so I would go with the Ground Control Pro. I've just ordered both

  • @UncleJoey12 i would use a Roland fc-300

  • axe fx kills this

  • @xMACx982 Its also twice as much

  • @xMACx982 Axe-Fx is sterile, and junk compared to a real amp. I owned one and did updates from version 6 to 10.01..... Boy I am glad I dumped this POS

  • @HedgeHogRon

What ridiculous statement-You must work for Avid. POS? What would John Petrucci and Steve Vai know-Of course you know better. Jerk

  • @Stratster68 Nope, don't work for Avid, I worked through several dozen updates (version 6 - 10.01) then you would see I didn't write it off after a 15 minute sniff. I work in a pro studio, and play for a living.... and I spent years tweaking, recording & touring with it. The effects are very good, (what John and Vai use it for) I'll give Cliff full marks there, my comment related to the ability to recreate a real amp-which it falls short of. Full marks for maturity in name calling lol.

  • @Stratster68 yawn, NOPE just tired of all the Axe-Fx wannabe's slamming every other piece of gear out there-like the eleven.. All the Axe-Fx users can dish it out, and slam everything else, but you get upset and have a cry when your sacred cow is called junk... One awesome benefit of the Axe-Fx hype is ppl ditching their good gear in lemming mentality, as witnessed on TheGearPage which is great because I get to buy it all pretty cheap-AND have better tone!!!!

  • @HedgeHogRon

Well, I am not one of the cry babies. I am a player 30+ years and to hear a "supposedly" pro player call the Axe FX Ultra a POS that is is ridiculous and childish. And could never be the statement from a real player. Enuff, I am done. You cannot backstep on your childish satement. bye forever

  • Would anyone be able to compare it with the G-System?

  • @EdwardXI there is a guy called vaisatchatrucci, he does fantastic demos... he doesn't demos them both at the same time but he has vids of the 11 rack AND the g system so you can compare... hope this works..

  • does the eleven rack comes with a pedal board ??? or do you have to buy it ?

  • @dragrond You have to by a midi footswitcher.

  • Would sound a lot better if you either mic'd up a speaker, or took a direct out to your camera, instead of getting that no amped electric gtr sound on your video. Come on guys. That's something they would do at guitar center. lol. Still think Sweetwater is awesome though.

  • I think I'm going to pass and get a Digitech 2101 or 2120. This just doesn't solve any of the issues with any of the modelers as far as getting a realistic tube head (or speaker cab) sound. Sure I'll have to buy something to go with it, but it's the end result that I need. It needs to sound professional in the end, not just have a lot of fx and features. I'm sure there are good sounds in this, but I have only heard one half way decent sound from one demo and 20 "so so" sounds.

  • Anyone else confused why he didn't play an Edge riff for "Irish Echo"?? lol I thought that was pretty self-explanatory~shrug~ :)

  • If you want sell these you should take care of the recorded soundquality. The plexi sounded like donald duck on a toy sax. The irish delay probably needed some U2 riff, Duhh.

  • Roman, if you go to their facebook page, you can see part 2. They post these a week after they post them on facebook.

  • I think the axe fx is to expensive the eleven has like 90% of the sounds and is only 800 bucks while the axe fx is 2k.

  • I'll save for the Axe Fx Ultra. It's more routeable and I plan on using it mostly for live applications.

  • @professorlessor

    what is "Axe Fx Ultra"?

  • @cciemail

it's made by a company called fractal audio. It's a rack preamp/effects modeler that is sort of similar to the eleven rack. Two different beasts, though.

  • hmmm... $200 more than the POD X3 Pro... and reportedly a terrible latency when switching between patches, which would completely kill it's 'live' uses they tout, although that could be addressed thru firmware updates. It seem the Pro Tools connection tie-in is the only real thing making this unique. *shrug*

  • Well for me thing that makes this unique is that I don't have to have a pro sound card to record low latency with it. It saves a dry guitar track simultaniously with the stereo/fx/etc so I can go back and make changes without having to re record.

But yeah, they are trying to show it's live capability and that may be important to many.

I don't know what pedalboard or problem you are talking about but I'd like to know that too because who knows when I might need those features.

  • a decent soundcard is only a hundred bucks - check into the POD X3, there's a desktop model, floorboard, and a rack unit. I record with it all the time on a fairly old computer and have zero perceptible latency(true 'zero latency' is impossible, but it's so low you can't notice it). The rack version has extra i/o, but the floorboard version has 99% of those... with the rack and the desktop model, you'd probably want a separate controller for live use, so the floorboard model would be best.

  • All right, I will consider what you have said. I do remember when the POD X3 Pro was all the talk. I actually went around in circles about getting a real tube amp and recording with it, but I unfortunately need to be able to record direct as much as possible and have been happy with some of the Line 6 products. I have never really felt that they were good enough to pass for commercial soundtracks (which is what I will be doing). But then again, I haven't listened to the model you mentioned.

  • I think it would be just fine for that use, and the direct recording takes out all the hassle of mic'ing speaker cabs, which is an art in itself at times to get the tone you want. I saw a video of guitar ace Steve Lukather(5-time Grammy winner) doing a session with some pop star... all he had was his guitar and a POD. They're used alot more than people think...

  • you gotta choose between axe fx and eleven rack. any line 6 product should be reserved for people who cut corners on every piece of gear they buy.

  • I want one so bad. I need money.

  • I've been waiting all week for this Swwtwater minute explaining the capabilities of the elewven rack. Now, I find out I've got to wait another week to find out about it's interface abilities! What the hell!

  • Will it work with Logic Pro 9 as an interface?
