They were responding to a call where 20 or so people were standing on a bus stop shelter and it had collapsed under their weight. Several people were injured.

Update: It was an elevator with 20-30 people that was stuck between floors because it was overloaded. They did not make it to the scene.

For those who did not know... The Ladder and Chief were called to an EMERGENCY where people were TRAPPED... And due to the "FANS" the Ladder could NOT GET TO THE SCENE!!! They had to call another unit to the EMERGENCY.

The Police should have taken steps to remove the "FANS". I am glad the PHILLIES WON - BUT think folks... BEFORE you just JUMP on a FIRE TRUCK!!!!!

I dont care if they were Black White or GREEN - STAY OFF FIRE APPARATUS!!!!!

poor planning by the city. certain streets should have been designated as emergency roads and sealed off from people that could have been set aside for fire trucks and such AROUND the "party zone" section of broad street that was blocked off from cars. why didn't the police escort the fire truck if there was no OTHER WAY to get to the emergency than by going down broad. why wasn't the other unit sent first instead of the unit that went down broad going through a crowd like that.

The police would be pepper spraying, pushing people and locking them up. People came from out of town destroying Philly and they go back home. We have to stay here and see the after math. why didn't the police put up a barricade in front of the fire station so the engines could get out of the station further and onto the street. there were plenty of cops around, why didn't they escort the truck through the crowd. i didn't see any police near the truck when in went. broad was blocked off at south street. isn't the station further down broad. couldn't the fire company at chinatown sent down a truck instead since there's less people from that side. poor city planning.

yeah i was there. my questions were directed for everyone, not just you. what people aren't talking about is the poor planning, if any, the city did to deal with the meyhem if a victory was apparent. for instance, why would the fire truck even attempt to go through broad if there's so many people there, and if broad was the ONLY way to get there, why didn't the police move the crowd so the truck can pass through.

Rockets were hitting the buildings and going off. One of the rockets just missed a window and exploded right on the side of a building. It was an assumption, I just jumped to conclusions.
