Does nobody understand the difference between flywheel and wheel horse power? If these A6's are rated at 230hp(flywheel), 191 would be very good actually. Most AWD's have a parasitic loss of 25% or more.
yea this model has only 230hp because mine is an 2001 an it comes 240 jus ten more hp but i modded mine wit an upgrade turbo an headers so those 240 jus got moved up to 320 hp an still trying to fix it jus need some money lol
thats pathetic, the skyline gtr with a 100cc smaller engine has 320bhp stock, and easily tuned to 400 with not much mods, so why is the power so low? i was shocked, i thought it would be somewhere up to 300 at least.
Year 2000 Audi 2.7 Bi-Turbo has 250 BHP and 350 NM of torque stock. A stage 1 remapping increases the figures to around 280 BHP and 440 NM. Obviously it's the torque that makes the real difference.
I think it's the power on the wheels. Not the engine output itself. You lose a power at your gearbox and at several consumers as ac-compressor and lighting dynamo. Of course there is a little difference between the data of the producer and the real power but usually it's around +- 11HP. 60HP would be a lot, don't you think?
best rule is with AWD take stock hp (250) divided by 1.28 which brings about 195WHP. since there is 27-28% loss in hp from fly to wheels. like 265bhp=207whp
The stock 250hp advertised is the Crank HP. A dyno will measure Wheel HP. Your car is losing about 23.6% of it's power through to the wheels which is about average. A good rule of thumb is that AWD cars lose about 25% give or take, so you're good. Now add a GIAC chip and yer good for 310 crank hp, or ~237 wheel hp. :)
250HP at the Engine, Dyno rungs give the power that is making it to the wheels, after the engine power (250hp) is lost thro the drive train...around 25%-40% usually lost on an Automatic All Wheel drive.
Dude, 191 at the wheels...WHEELS...not crank. You lose about 25% with awd and automatic transmission. So 191 at the wheels is actually 256hp, or so at the crank.
The twin turbo V6 is rated at 250hp to the crank. When you have an automatic and 4 wheel drive you loose 20% power. So it's actually very close to what it should be :)

its about right, since you loose about 10-15% hp after the tranny. plus its awd so yeah i wonder what my n/a v6 quattro would do. kinda scared.

Homie if your only doing 190 and pushing around 200HP, it's because you have a regular A6.
Not the 4.2 or the 2.7T, I have THE REAL 2.7T I swapped for magna flow and I'm pushing 265hp.
Here are the specs:
The first is the A6 2.7T with a 250-horsepower, twin-turbo V6 engine. The second is the A6 4.2 with a 300-horsepower V8.

wow, i'm surprised how much is lost throughout the drive train to the wheels. it's still one of the best engines to come out of germany!

250 hp from the motor, gets lots in all the mechanics, to 190ish at the wheels, also less hp over time.
