awesome band, seen them twice opening for Blue Rodeo, come on people get playing these guys on the radio instead of all the shit you play over and over again!
Don't miss them live if you get the chance. One of the very best shows i've ever seen! He is a fantastic guitarist and the band is very tight. Huge energy.
just discovered these guys today. excellent stuff. these guys would have fit in well with the scene of the late 80's ..early 90's when Tragically Hip, 54-40 Barney Bental were blowing us away at Canada Day bashes at molson park..or playing the KEE to Bala.
im a fan. If they ever come to Winnipeg a shared bill with ELC would make for a killer show.
i saw him perform a handful of years ago in detroit as the opener for blue rodeo. it ended up that he played his opening slot then stood in for greg keelor that night as keelor was tending to an ill father. very cool first impression of luke and his music! he is definitely an overlooked talent in the music scene.
part of this video is a remake of another video, but i can't think of who/what it was - there was a sheep on the door instead of an eagle? anyone know what i'm talking about?
I was really fortunate to have seen Sarah McLachlan live and he played guitar for her, alongside Sean Ashby (also underrated). One of the best concerts I've ever been to...
I saw Luke with Blue Rodeo a couple of years ago, this guy is probably the first opening act in which I liked so much that I had to buy the CD.. his stuff is AMAZING, I am shocked this guy isn't huge.
I've been a fan since the first time I saw him with his rock band Veal. Now with his super talented wife Melissa McClelland, they're too good to be true. Live, there's nobody like them. Everything in place: singing, songwriting, band sound, and hot, hot guitar. So good.
This guy is great. Canada has given us another great one, eh ? Like The Band, Leonard Cohen, Neil Young, Cowboy Junkies. Anyhow Blood Too Rich album was great so I just got the one with Emily, and that is equally outstanding. Hope he gets to Woodstock NY again soon. I also love the vocal accompaniment.
I too saw him live a few years ago when he opened for Blue Rodeo. I liked him right away and have been a fan every since. I just bought this album, it's great!! Yes, I too think he is highly underrated!!
Is it just me, or is Luke Doucet CRIMINALLY underrated? I mean, come on...the guy is amazing, and it seems to me that he isn't as popular as he should be (but I could just be out of touch)...
I for one totally agree with you--this guys just simply has the whole package--incredible song writer--plays a great acoustic guitar--see the indie clip on you tube of broken one if in doubt and a great singer--sounds a little like Jim Cuddy and for good reason--i really think he should be topping the charts and the powers that be should be ashamed of this!!
i wouldn't say he's criminally underrated, just perplexingly so. i'm blown away every time i listen to his music - it's astounding how good a musician he is. it's weird that he isn't well known, but frankly, i don't think it's a bother to him himself. he makes his living playing music with the woman he loves - hard to want more from life than that, i think.
@dlmx13 I haven't heard about him(them) until today. I found out by someone wearing a t-shirt that included the name of the band: Luke Doucet & The White Falcon. I thought the name was unusual and so, I wanted to check them out.
He reminds me of Ryan Adams, I dig it.

I love Luke Doucet and the White Falcon. Something wonderfully gritty and fun and melancholy about them all at the same time.

@n54kch I only noticed because of the synchronised movements, but it's a parody of Brand New's 'Sic Transit Gloria... Glory Fades' video.
Very keen eye you have there, sir/madam.
