Unfortunately, the act of executing "Heretics" through burning at the stake is common in the history of Western Christianity. It was also practiced by some Protestant groups as well, the Church of England doing so into the 17th Century. As well, many "Heretics", such as John Wycliff, whom died natural deaths had their remains dug up and posthumously burned at the stake years after their deaths.
Wow, this series is so great! I've learned a lot of good stuff =) Though it is terribly sad that anyone had to be burned... I personally cannot understand schismatic reformation.
