  • RIP

    Ed Bishop

  • the death of a first class troll. Kidnap the president. Hijack a jet and a car at gunpoint. Reject all attempts at negotiation. Attack repeatedly until destroyed.

And all of this without saying a single word.

  • anyone else think captain blue looks like peter weller from robocop?

  • @jameswanantony oh yeah, he kinda does

  • when i first saw captain scarlet, it was this part that scared me shitless instead of first hearing the mysterons

  • man the skytower rocked. I always looked out the car window when going on holiday hoping to see it! :D

  • OK im not sure on what happens in what episode but weren't captain blue and captain scarlet buddies?

  • 0:12 - Possibly the same gunshot and surprised grunt you hear in the opening sequence of Captain Scarlet.

  • There was a spiral roadway which ran up the centre and then from the centre out to the base of the platform. You can't see it in this clip because it broke away when a hellicopter crashed into the Carview. That's why the Carview is collapsing by the way.

  • 0:12

    "Jizzed in my pants"

  • Thats going to go down well on the Five Live travel report.

  • @TheTrannyErika

THIS IS THE VOICE OF THE MYSTERONS

STOP LOOKING FOR THE STRINGS OR WE WILL DESTROY LONDON

  • Mmm, Thunderbirds is the love.

  • 0:16 WHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.......(silence)

    BLAM!

  • the coolest episode of the series or perhaps the coolest moment on television, the trap was also a good episode. i love how 70s it is i cant remember why captain scarlet is evil on that episode though did the mysterones hypnoties him.

  • It wasn't a car park, it was an observation platform "Car View"

  • @siliconerubber so how did a car get up there?

  • cared*

  • @TheTrannyErika As a kid, all I care about was everything exploding and Captain Blue's cool tank thingy! :D

  • bobba fett is englishhh

  • Being pedantic, this is actually the second death of Captain Scarlet. The first was where his car tyre was burst by the Mysterons and he and Captain Brown were killed as the car tumbled down a cliff and exploded. This is the death of the Mysteron-controlled Scarlet, before he regenerated and was then no longer under their control.

  • @Spunkey1982 Yeah, he's the reconstructed version of Captain Scarlet. The original died in the first couple of minutes of the episode. That always creeped me out when I was a kid.

  • This should of happened at the end of the series. Scarlet goes totally crazy when Doctor Fawn tells him he is no longer indestructable. He hijacks the world president and Captain Blue has to kill his best freind. Tragic yes, but i thnk it is good.

  • don't be silly. captain scarlet doesn't die

  • awesome just awesome

  • Some shows don`t have this high drama and they are real people!

  • Its a trap?

  • I remember he turned bad but why? and um why did blue kill him

  • @MartyMcfly4890

I think the mysterons got him in the very first ep and he somehow survived and became indestructible.

  • @MartyMcfly4890 because the mistoruns got him

  • It's never the fall that kills you; it's the sudden stop!

  • you dont rid the evil sprit by shooting the person in the face! gee thats the last resort!

  • I have to say I found his, "AAH, I AM SO SHOT!!" face and his associated jerky spasm, hysterically funny.

And his tremendous free-fall after? Well that just finished me off. Mainly because it looks like he clunks his head on that damn thing on his way!

It could only have been better if he'd cried out "OW!" at that point. I'm in tears.

  • I notice a few "London Skypark Truthers" in the comments.

  • Got that guy off the girders just in time. Nice jet pack flying there.

  • Far out man, nice marmant!

  • Captain Scarlet would have been OK; the ground would have broken his fall.

  • Im a bit lost, why does captain blue kill captain scarlet!? :O D:

  • @silvereye27 This is the 1st episode, as i remember. For he was possessed and Captain Blue shot the mysteron out of him. I think, it's been a while since i seen it. All i know that this is the 1st ep

  • @16shogunelitegreen Ur right the 1st time. He was possessed by the Mysterons, after Captain Black, and Captain Blue got rid of the Mysteron that's possessing him. So u remember correctly

  • Should be made into a film with real actors. The story is already there. It would become a franchise with sequels, merchandise etc, the first telling the story of how Scarlett becomes indestructable and why. Although it should be made more for adults than children. The characters remaining the same as in the series, although there would bound to be cries of "sexism" regarding the Angels. ome on, let's start a campaign.Who's with me ? I've always wanted to see this done with real people.

  • @sharfrs1 I had an idea for a Captain Scarlet movie set after the events of the TV series, where Colonel White enlists replacements for Captain Brown and Captain Indigo (the two Captains of Spectrum killed by the Mysterons over the series). They would serve the role of asking the questions the new audience needs to know the answers to, about Scarlet and the Mysteron war.

  • Anyone else think that Gary Sinise is the double of Captain Black and Alan Hanson Captain Scarlet?

Loved this show as a kid........

  • I remember that episode,eh,Capt. Scarlett didn't die,but the mind of the mysteron agent that was a double of Capt. Scarlett was destroyed, and somehow the real Capt. mind became awake in the double after the fall, which, explains why you can't kill him.

  • i was really disturbed by this show as a kid, mind you i was used to Thunderbirds at the time but Captain Scarlett was pretty dark

  • @oldsnake8592 yeah u dont see this kind of violence on tv now for kids. Thunderbirds encouraged me to play with matches as a child, only kids tv show i ever saw which showed blood, dirt, car crashes, terrorists and people smoking. Loved it

  • who builds an unecesarily tall parking lot

  • Captain Scarlet didn't just fall. He had thousands of tons of concrete land on top of him after he hit the ground. Whoever recovered his body had to scrape it off the rubble like raw hamburger meat.

  • hahahaha classic episode when captain scarlet gets shot his face cracks me up looks like hes just been smacked on one side of his face and that scream is just laughable aaaaahhhhhh!

  • God, when I fisrt saw this I was scared shitless! Whenever I used to watch it again, I'd either turn the volume right down so I couldn't hear Scarlet scream and or hide behind a cusion so I coudln't see him fall off the tower. I know it's only puppets and models, but they looked so different from Thunderbirds and Stingray, which i saw before Scarlet and it was just so scary, the way he fell off i mean!

  • If you think about it, the Scarlet who works for them now isn't the original as everyone seems to believe, he's a Mysteron clone who THINKS he's Scarlet ... SO WHY HAS NO ONE BLOODY NOTICED!

  • @Elzebub666 What do you mean why has no one noticed? Who hasn't noticed? People watching the show, or Spectrum? It couldn't be more obvious. Not only is it explicitly shown in the first episode, but it is mentioned in at least 4 others, so everyone HAS noticed.

  • Captain Scarlet isn't exactly indestructible; he just "gets better".

  • WHO THE HELL BUILDS A GIANT CAR-PARK THAT BIG THAT IS AT RISK OF COLLISION BY AN AIRCRAFT!?!?

  • Why are people so angry about the new Captain Scarlet? It's just as great as this show.

  • @TheMarthaJones The series in CGI was such a disappointment. Not that I turned over as soon as I heard it was on... I'm far too grown up for that.

  • 0:11 that scream made me laugh aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhh!

  • NNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO

  • At 0:16 he should have said something like "AAAAHH! THERE'S NO WAY I SHOULD BE ABLE TO SURVIVE THIS FAAAAAaaalll!."

  • London Car-Vu was an inside job!

Isn't it a massive coincidence the very same helicopter that crashed into the tower, shot down by Spectrum, was none other than a Spectrum helicopter? Eyewitness accounts state that they saw nobody piloting the aircraft, and no bodies were recovered from its wreckage. Coincidence?!

The alledged "assassin" Scarlet was "supposedly" shot and fell 800 feet from the tower, yet somehow survived with only minor head injuries?!

    0:47 - Controlled demolition!

  • @TheMarthaJones :

    Yes Tatiana, you're right.

This series was really very exciting and well done.

  • Fuck CGI this is where it's at.

  • Too right. The creators of the CGI series were the only people who ever came close to destroying Captain Scarlet....

  • @BigAlForever2k6 right on dude, cgi is fake this shit is as real as it gets, im watching this over and over again how do they do the scene where captain scarlet falls to his death 20 thousand ft up?

  • @BigAlForever2k6 Hell yeah i do CGI myself and i dont half prefer this stuff lol

  • Spectrum Is Green! I thrilled to Captain Scarlet and the mysterons every day after school, in 1968-69, when I was in the second grade.

  • wow

  • My theory is that when Captain Scarlet was shot and fell off the parking lot, the shock was strong enough to revive the person who the mysterons were repressing, which was why he screamed, which is very un-mysteron

  • So if the shock of Captain Scarlet getting shot woke him up so to speak, then couldn't they have done the same thing to Captain Black? Maybe that would have woken Black up as well.

  • @Speacock It's not really a question of getting shot, it's shock. Maybe if they did something to Captain Black that would have scared him originally, they could have woken him up

  • Oh right. My mistake.

  • Strange how in the first episode its capt. blue who's the hero. "its either you or me," many feet off the ground and he's not indestructable.

  • 0.12 is so Cary Grant.

  • He never Died but He landed on his back and was Winded for quite a While......

  • Great selection of Captain Scarlet puppets for sale at televisionpuppets dot com

  • captian scarlet cant die

  • He's like Wile E. Coyote.

  • did he die what do you think

  • Spectrum certainly is green. He must have made a fortune from insurance premiums.

  • did he die ?

  • Technically he did. But not here. He died at the beginning when The Mysterons caused him and Captain Brown to crash. But then the Mysterons re-created him, and when he fell from the London Car View, he was no longer under The Mysterons' control. But he did retain some Mysteron characteristics.

  • Look up "Tacoma Narrows Bridge" on this web site. If wind can do that to a suspension bridge, imagine what it would do to this flimsy monstrosity.

  • I don't know. The Narrows Bridge had solid plates on the side of it. This tower is open so the wind could pass through. Regardless though, this is a ridiculous structure. LOL

  • I was 32 when I first saw this episode, and even at that age this scene gave me white knuckles. It's quite a feat to put that kind of intensity into something acted out by puppets.

  • look at that concrete structure just floping about

  • Didn't Captain Scarlet die permanantly in the last episode?

  • @TashkentFox - that was part of a dream or hallucination Symphony Angel had when she was lost in the desert.

  • die?

  • What is the name of this episode

  • The Mysterons.

  • I loved it as a kid, and I love it now, I've not been able to find it anywhere too, I'm so happy I found it here :)

  • LOOL its the face that makes me laugh.

  • I remember this episode, shame that the new version of captain scarlet is no where near as good as the old one.

  • Without sounding like I'm stating the obvious, it's made for a different audience. I enjoy them both, and despite the nods to the original series I keep them well apart. It didn't take long for me grow to like the new one despite at the beginning really wanting to hate it!

  • All the Gerry Anderson stuff that was made in the 60's/70's is way better then all the current kids t.v shows.

As strange as this sounds Scarlet's face @: 13 looks really realistic and terrified me as a kid.

  • He,ll be back.

  • best damn show ever!!!!!!!!!

  • lol at scarlet: "i've just been shot...argh!!!!!"

    lol

  • when you think about it who the hell would want to park their car there. theres about forty spaces, it takes ten minutes to drive up there, there dosent appear to be any easy access to ground. Its also a waste of labour, materials and taxpayers money. Excellent episode though.

  • No one, since it's for planes and chopper landings. Doesn't look like a parking for cars

  • In the episode they clearly reference it as the sky view car park. So it mus be a car park not a chopper landing area.

  • Indeed - but that's the joy of it all. It's imagination. Reality can be quite dull in comparison, and when you're a kid you look in awe at these things - practicalities don't matter.

I'm absolutely convinced that everyone involved with this show loved creating it. I always loved the special effects of all the Anderson shows - they were always the middle ground between my model cars and aeroplanes and reality.

    It's all wonderful.

  • Lol!

  • @jameskit Oh, there is easy access to the ground... I think that was clearly demonstrated in this clip... Lol...

  • @jameskit It's the future you whiny biatch... labour, tax, material possession & common sense no longer exist.

  • @riastrad obviously sarcasm is wasted upon you.

  • @jameskit I agree and where was the 'elf and safety board when you need them.

  • @jameskit I don't know, it seems like the kind of thing that the Uk government would build.

Have to agree, great episode though. :)

  • @jameskit

I don't think it was a car park, it was an observation platform, a sort of static London Eye. I think it was called "Car View".

  • this was the most scariest part of my childhood.

whenever i saw this scene i again, i'd turn the volume down so that i couldnt hear the freaky music and hid behind a cushion so that i couldn't see scarlet's face.

  • LOL this bit terrified me as a kid too

  • Hold up, I thought Capt. Scarlet was indestructable?

  • Yeah people think hes deed but hes still alive. but this was in the 1st episode so he comes back

  • u spelled dwad wrong, just so u know :)

  • so did you

  • Lovin the.. "just taken a bullet face"..ace!!

  • I was just thinking "Captain Blue looks so life-like" when Scarlet suddenly suffers a stroke

  • Like the little teeney weeney Captain falling off the gantry!!! :D

  • A timeless classic from my childhood.

  • If he really did fell that hight, He'd have much more than a bump on the head

  • He is indestructable so he can only be wounded, he cannot be permanantly be destroyed unless it was done by very high voltage or the mysterons give up on that duplicate, and mysteron's wounds can heal very fast.

  • In this case, the real Captain Scarlet along with Captain Brown were killed earlier in a car crash caused by the Mysterons. The Mysterons replaced them with their own agents, copied perfectly but as indestructible beings under their control.

Their mission was to kill the World President, with the 1st attempt by Captain Brown failing. The 2nd attempt by Captain Scarlet also failed, but the fall broke the Mysteron's control, leaving Captain Scarlet "resurrected" as an invincible hero for Earth.

  • As for why the Mysterons became enemies.

A Mars mission by Spectrum turned ugly. The "earthmen," led by Captain Black, found the Mysteron base on Mars. The Mysterons were curious about the "earthmen" and attempted a closer look using an observation instrument.

Unfortunately, the instrument was confused for a weapon and the Mars team attacked the settlement, almost destroying it completely only to be restored by the Mysterons by the same power that makes indestructible duplicates.

  • The Mysterons vowed revenge against Earth and took control of Captain Black to help them surreptitiously achieve their ultimate goal.

In the television series, Spectrum is usually victorious in stopping Mysteron attempts to attack Earth's society. But, some episodes actually have the Mysterons successfully fulfilling their plans that they conveniently disclose to the "earthmen" at the beginning of each episode.

  • WOW! That's a hell of a long way down 00:16!

  • "Okay Captain Scarlet, it's either gonna be you or me."

I love this dialogue and that scene. There are some serious live action shows that don't reach this level of coolness!

  • Good luck showing THIS on a children's TV show. You'd never get past the bored mothers of America.

This was a great show partly because the Andersons didn't dumb it down for their audience. They actually respected the fact that kids have brains as well as making something the adults could watch as well.

  • Well in the 60's those kinds of action films would been freely done, but since actions films makes children "violent" (bullshit in my opinion) so children shows today must have very VERY little blood.

  • Well, I would imagine the controversy to be nothing new, as annoying as it is.

This problem existed with written literature and comic books, so it would progress to other forms of media that become popular.

Basically, I'm of the opinion that it's more of a person or a group of people whose opinions they wish to force upon others (a bullshit reason, so I agree with you that the notion of media violence making kids violent to be a load of crap).

  • Ofcourse, I played games like grand theft auto 1, 2 and london, doom, duke nukem, and captain scarlet, since I was... 5-6 years old

and I didn't go around being violent to people or stabbing anyone. It may give the ideas but does not make children/teenagers violent what-so-ever, all it is, is just an excuse to put parents and kids into sympathy by their idiotic mistakes.

  • And even then, taking a life in the context of a fantasy setting is never the same thing as doing it in real life.

Children are usually capable of understanding the distinction between fantasy and reality. Of course they can be impressionable; they are learning about the world around them. Then again, the context of fantasy versus reality was real when kids played cops and robbers with cap guns and is real now when some kids blow each other away in a "Call of Duty" deathmatch along with adults.

  • indeed

  • @Watcher3223 It was definitely on American TV. Channel 11 in New York. Never missed it. They even had the Spectrum vehicle toys in FAO Schwarz.

  • @yardlet6

    Nice.

  • @yardlet6 Out of all of Gerry Anderson's shows,I really liked Captain Scarlett. It was shown here in Philly back in the day on Channel 17 UHF on Wee Willy Webber after school let out.

  • My favourite show as a kid.

  • I bet that he did that with out a net too! now THAT takes guts! (Or....doll parts)

  • That face Scarlet makes when he's shot always makes me ROFL.

  • This is way too intellectual for me. I prefer Howdy Doody.lol

  • Woah, that's some pretty cool puppets for a show.

  • Wow
