  • Dang, you have like half an inch room for error.

  • very good idea

  • That is great!! How about one for a motorcycle?

  • just to let you know, i am the front yard man.

  • is that just wood? how thick? how well is it holding up after multiple uses?

  • ya i built a ramp like that back in 2004 for my truck but when you road up the ramp it fell into the truck bed its self because my ramp was longer due to my 162 track mountain sled

  • Back door man in the butt

  • ????? Back door man? ??

  • Hey are you the backyard man?

  • Clever son of a bitch

  • danm that looks clutch good job man looks alot better than my version i think ill try this

  • With my luck I would drive off the side and smash my tail light. I already did that on my trailer...

  • how u get it down?

  • @suzukiguy199 Reverse of how you got it up....

  • at first i thought this was gonna be a stupid redneck stunt haha were thet were gonna jump the truck

  • @garrettf5566 NA! Some one else alreadyt has a video posted on that one.

  • thats not a dumb idea, i might steal it

  • how do you unload... do you just pull it?

  • @ax275 back the truck up really quick and stand on the brakes.... Easy as pie XP

  • @ScRoTe1992 Well that would work if you don't really care for the cargo. But if you have a brand new 2012 sled i doubt you would do it that way haha...

  • @ax275 LoL This is True!

  • @ScRoTe1992 Why yes, yes it is...

  • @ax275 Grab hold of the lift handle on the back and slide it out

  • @Backyardman1961 Simple enough...

  • pretty dam sweet

  • you a back yard man

  • I had two of these 96's

the first-i got a great afternoon and two starts before the lower end went/clocked @97mph.

the second pulled a wheelie and broke a connecting rod/I got that to about 25ish.

Is yours still running? I loved it but I think 3 is a bad number.

  • that cant be good for the truck lol

  • @zach0yg Built FORD tough! :)

  • No i think um the backyard man.

  • i have the same sled and also have the same truck so i guess i need the same ramp lol=D

  • ummmm i think your boots are a little too big

  • that is a sweet ramp lol its better than spending thousands for a lift good thinkin

  • that is the cheapest, most fantastic ramp ive ever seen

  • Nice, I've built pretty much the same exact ramp!

The only problem I have is sliding it back when the sled is on it.

  • i see two probllems a skiddoo and a ford two big possssssssssssss lol

  • hey buddy ... i have the twin sled ... looks like a great idea but how do you slide it so easy iin and out if you have no snow or ice in the box?? and one more thing ... i drive an 02 chev ... you think it will trash my tailgate??is there something under that plywood to make it slide easy?

  • awesome!! i have a similar method for my sled, i have 2 plaforms made, one supports the sled when its in the pan, and the other slides out from underneath the support, so i can driive up or drive down into the pan easily! but i likeee this alot.

  • purpose of building a ramp is to eliminate any lifting.

there are other vid's on here that show how to build one.

  • ony one problem, that sled is a skiidoo

  • @ronnei13 sounds like your 5 and have nothing better to do

  • how thick of wood, just the type used for roofing right? i got a vintage sled that only weighs around 350 to 400. eaisly three ppl or two can load it, but this is nice. any reinforcement used?

  • thats a nice ramp, id love that, instead of lifting it up

  • thats one way to do it

  • gatskillz, yeah you gatskillz alright ... at being an ignorant, disrespectful, immature hater. Why even bother wasting your time broadcasting your childish attitude? And most Canadians pronounce "ski-doo" just as he did when using it in a sentence as he did, buddy. Grow up and drop the hateful attitude ... life can't be that bad:(

Great job on the ramp ... cheap, simple and effective!

  • i tried to build a ramp but i got halfway up and realized that i didnt have a snowmobille

  • @ottomobille lmfao!!!

  • @ottomobille LMAO!

  • that sleds not a 2001 !!

  • The truck is :) The Sled is 96 LOL

  • lol

  • talk about a dinosaur what year is that 97?

  • Now that's a shot in the arm...2001 LOL

  • @PoolmanZZ naww i meant the sled

  • @BADASSED88 hey man the sled may be old but it would probably whoop yours any day

  • @savagechevyman its a triple so it is possible but i have a 2007 ski doo renegade 600 longtrack

  • @savagechevyman my oldman whipped a 2007 renegade by alot

and what kind of machine is your longtrack

  • @BADASSED88 I just upgraded from a 1985 Yamaha Phazer to a 1998 Ski-Doo Formula III 700 Triple. Thought I was high-tech now. Then, you go and call it a dinosaur. F-ing great. Thanks.

  • @TheSovietSteel that sled should be in a museum bro lol. im getting a nice rev xp 440 next year

  • @BADASSED88 Sweet! Keep it Ski-Doo and you won't go wrong. Seriously, though. I know she is old, but my Formula III 700 is still a damned monster. 6500 miles and she will still walk all over a lot of the newer sleds out there. Ski-Doo rules.

  • @TheSovietSteel i agree with you there

  • nice i was going to build a ramp like that that slides out and tilts and same in reverse but slides in on a rail system and locks with pins nice vid

haha i had my sled come off the front of my tilt trailer the other week the belly pan was sitting on the tongue of the trailer up against the truck bumper that was interesting neighbor had to help me get it back up on the trailer

  • hmmmm can you enlighten us how the tail gait will buckle.....you must be a complete moron!

  • sorry I saw that your american.....explains all!

  • Nice job

  • It does work with a long track and if you drive a Ford then you don't have to worry about the tail gate. LOL. I hope you are not driving a Chev or Dodge?

    :)

  • lmao my favorite truck ford f650 best for hauling heavy loads of snowmobiles!

  • @PoolmanZZ

    IM CUMMIN ALL OVER

  • @95jyj fag

  • @PoolmanZZ Ford Blows!!!!! its only a couple thousand miles before the tranny goes on a ford. Chevy trucks RULE!

  • @tomclit39 your talking about the dodge transmission's, NOT fords , and a ford will out last and out work a chevy and dodge any day of the week.

  • better make sure you hit the fkn ramp lol

  • As safety should always be paid attention too, if you do miss, you will probably only do do that once. :)

    Safe riding

  • @PoolmanZZ hahaha, true true. btw love the idea!

  • haha great idea i just use the snow drift in my yard to get my ski doo on the back of my Z71

  • thats what i do lol

  • backyard man you are kickin some serious ass. why the hell didn't i think of that?

  • :) Thanks

  • That's a great design, but i would be scared to hit the ramp like that. I think i'm going to make one similar.

  • If you have a nice "Back Rack" installed, you could attach a 12 volt winch. That will save the front of the sled and the rear of the cab. I have already thought about it since my buddies Yamaha 1000 broke down and we had to use a strap to winch it on 12" at a time. Way too much work but had to improvise at the time.

I will get around to it one day.

  • they would be so easy to make

  • Nice ramp. Were can I get this product?

  • I really don't have the money for a small $600 trailer.. Those things are rape expensive.. Craigslist too.

I like that design. Simple and effective..

  • Thanks. Pretty was never on the top of the list during assembly, effectiveness was. Hope it helps and enjoy 2010 sled season. :)

    BYM

  • gayyest thing i ever seen honestly i can make a better ramp than that in 30 minutes

  • The clock is ticking starting now! I am sure everyone including myself will be quite interested in your version. Please send us a picture.

    Thanks

  • I HATE how he says Ski-Doo-ramp.

    "Sk-doo-ramp"

  • That is so impressive. So it still works even if you don't have a full 8 ft bed?

  • Yes it will but because the plywood is 8', it will slide right into the box. It might not be a bad idea to something in front to stop it from sliding all the way in. What ever works best for you and easiest on the back. Have fun sledding.

  • the link for the instructions on how to build it does not work?

  • i think im the back yardman!

  • That definetly beats having to find a snow bank to back your sled off your every time you go riding. Great idea.

  • great job and way to save yourself a back ache and a hundred bucks keep up the good work man

  • I had a trailer. Because of subdivision by-laws and storage space I was faced to get rid of it. I bought the truck which I did not have and get many uses out of and now just have to store a sheet of plywood, trailer not sitting most of the time and by-law officer not hounding me.

When I do the math, I came out ahead. Sometimes simple is better. :)

  • you should make a buisness out of it sell tem for like a buck and a quarter($125)

  • Go back to the design board - from :34 to :42 takes too much work. I know - I grew up and watched my dad design and build effortless inventions.

  • Which takes to much worrk? Building it or using it? If you don't mind submitting the design you have created so we can all have a look where I went wrong. :)

    Thanks

  • do you ever run into the problem of the bottom of the ramp that is on the ground sliding forward instead of grabbing traction. i load on lakes lots and have had it happen a couple times... not a pleasent time.

  • Simple suggestion, drill 2 holes in the plywood and hammer a couple of 12" spikes in the ice just enough to hold it in place but yet easy enough to remove when done. I have not had any problems yet.

  • How do you get it down

  • Grab the hand of the sled or intall a handle on the plywood and it slides out pretty easy.

  • that is sick !

  • thats liget

  • thats crap I can make that out of a tooth pic and a peace of dog crap

  • I can't wait for that video. :)

  • Ur stupid!

  • id love to see it man....thats ramp is pretty sick!!!!

  • omg thats freaking amazing

  • ROCK N ROLL!

  • sweet

  • thats mint!!

  • wow sweet i need something like that would that work for dirtbikes and weelers cuz i got um all lol we got 2 sesons in nd winter and summer lol

  • genius!

  • Seems to work well I'm gona try something like this but with a winch to pull it up, for my grampa He still likes to ride but he can't lift anything.

  • That's a good idea. I loaded my friends 1000 yamaha when it broke down. Not fun at all. A winch would be good if you have a BACKRACK installed for support.

  • That is bad ass

  • nice job.and it probably was relatively inexpensive and easy to make.

anyone who says that is not convenient has never had to put a sled in a pickup truck.

  • Cost was about 125$ cdn. I have now changed the back to an old bed liner I found (free). The crazy carpets started to peel. One 8' bed liner did the trick and does not freeze to the floor of the truck. This ramp has been called a lot of things and has been modified by many but there is one thing it has eliminated, thowing out your lower back. :) That's what it was meant for.

  • jus giver a little more gas ther buddy and u dont even have to push it

  • redneck and i like it

  • thats fucking awesome now if only it were so easy with a bike

  • that hurts my back just looking at it..

  • then your screwed because you dont have to bend over you just use your legs !

  • Yeah... Looks so easy.... Lol not

  • lets see you lift it into the truck then

  • My point exact.y...

  • its a good idea but it tahes way to much work...after a long day of ridin you aoint gone want to do all that

  • sickkkkkkkkkkkkkkk

  • Thats for damn sure!

  • cool idea

  • i thinks thats realy coool u should maek a video on ow ur made it so i could do it two!!!!!!!

  • i really dont think someone that cant spell make or how sholud be using power tools

  • And this is coming from someone that can't spell "should"...

  • ive seen this once before, great idea! whatever it takes to load those heavy bastards easier is good bye me!!

  • guy made one here sticks out couple feet farther solves the flat loading prob..has two pins to go thru the front to lock it from tipping ..cheep and effective

  • too much work

  • hah back yard man ncie one

  • like the idea! i made one but put rollers under it. having trouble with it staying leaning on the truck! it wants to slide along with the sled when i hit the ramp. went to your measurements, and then tried diffrent angles, but still moves away on me. did you have any issues with the ramp moving on you? or do you have a stop system under the ramp we do not see?

  • cool sled =)

  • One other idea I had was to leave everything the way you have it and attach a winch in the center front of the bed. Attach your cable on the front corners of your plank. Very basic. Drive machine on the plank then winch it on the rest of the way. The winch would not have to be very strong due to the amount of weight your pulling. There would be plenty of room for the winch because it would sit between the front skis. May need to notch out front of plank to fit around the winch.Good luck with it.

  • dude thats sick how do i make one?

  • Great idea! May need a little tweaking though. I like the whole idea of it pivoting on the tailgate. If it locked in place when you pull it back might help. Then when you drive the snowmobile on it you could almost drive it on till it sat flat instead of doing any lifting. Would require much more thought. Still a good idea you have.

  • Tweaking is alway good. I thought about the drive on till flat but because of the truck height and plywood length it was impossible on a basic flat road. I you come up with an idea, please let us know.

    Thanks, Backyardman

  • IDEA!!!!! Your correct. The plank needs to be about 2-3 feet longer. This would extend the length from the pivot point into the truck. Now drive the snowmobile up on. When most of the weight of the machine is past the pivot point it will level out. The extra 2-3 feet of plank can hang out the back or you can hinge it to fold up. If hinged then you will need some sort of locks to keep it straight while driving up it.

  • just get a clam shell trailor much easier and not back breaking also doesnt it doesnt go on the back of er truck so the idea is cool but the consept is just pointless

  • The idea does have a point for those who do not have the space for a trailer or do not want one for the case of taking up space or can't be bothered with the maintanance of a trailer. The idea of the ramp is for an easy alternative

Don't get me wrong, the clam shell trailer is a great idea for those who have room to store it. Enjoy !

    Backyardman

  • expensive also

  • nice idea!

  • haha v nice u should get rollers so it pushes easyer

  • lol what happens when you hit the gas in the truck with no tow strapes

  • nice boots

  • i was gonna say the same thing. lol

  • I don't think I trust my tailgate straps that much to do this lol

  • Go buy a real sled.. an Arctic Cat. :) Very Clever

  • LOL! I had a cat at one point. I have nothing bad to say about any machine except riders choice. Have a good winter when it shows up :)

  • 0_o

  • Nice work I need to make one of those for my truck

  • Awesome!

  • WOW easy as that eh!

  • i was wondering whare you got the rubber matting for the skis and do you got a close up of how the chain is attached to the plywood.

  • idk whats wrong with weight on the tail gate im riding a 650DS Baja weighs 450lbs plus when full of gas(4gallontank) and ive never had problems with tail gate

  • I ride a Outlander 650Max that weighs over 700lbs loaded and a Bearcat widetrack Turbo that weighs over 900lbs loaded. Weight is a concern for me. They are not only heavy, but are long too. And I did have problems with the tailgate. Wires snapping, tailgate rounding in the middle, bumpy roads where I live. Now I use a tilt trailer. Still nice setup Backyard Man.

  • I have to agree, thats a lot of weight. Trailer is definately a wiser decision in this case. :)

  • What holds the board from sliding out with the sled when your driving?

  • Once you have the sled loaded, use standard ratchet straps as you normally would for safety reasons. Keep in mind this is just a ramp to help with loading. Considering how easy the sled slides in, it will slide back out just as fast if not secured.

  • Straps, of course! Nice simple setup, I like it. The board spreads the weight off the tailgate too.

  • HAHAHAHA! Seriously? THAT's your question?

The Backyard Man is shaking his head.

  • Good idea!!
