  • Jesus can come and provide hope can't he??? He can come back to Earth and prevent this from happening.

  • I don't think it is fair to include people that have, mental and physical disorder's as being enslaved to idol's. As they are willingly doing it and not caring about God,ie Glutton's and Alcoholic's. Sick people have serious problem's to overcome and certain opinion's, on using the bible to confuse them and make them feel even worse about themselves is not being considerate to them.I think that God know's that they have enough to deal with in life, with their own sickness.

  • @opendtuning 2. it's easy for relatively normal and well rounded and well balanced people, to start judging and because they don't understand certain condition's,lump everybody in the same category as them. Iam sure that obese people don't want to be fat and controlled by food, rather than saying "You are a food Worshipper".No they are not enslaved to food, they are slaves to their disorder and sickness. The Soul is a slave to the vessel that carrie's it around, Iam sure God know's that...

  • noooooooooo not the pets...the insanity........hahahaa!!!!...plz

so let me get this right we are going to sit back and watch him burn down inoccent animals and nature who were subject because of the punishment of sin as a result of man's disobedience...something is missing in the comment

  • Slavery to Christ is ultimately freedom. I'd rather be slave to God than to sin. I have to realize that the people I think care about me, really don't. Even phony Christians. God is my salvation. not my things, not my sin, not my place of worship. Don't get me wrong, Church is good, but God is better.

  • I have to remember this because last week an eighty-three year old grandma ran my car over in an intersection, not sure if it is totalled yet, the body shop has not contacted me. Man I loved it so; my hand gushing blood after it hit the windshield and all I cared about way the car:( I actually cried when I realized the extent of the damage.

  • It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Galatians 5:1

  • Of course, Jesus is going to come back and save the christians and destroy the world so we shouldn't care about it, just go ahead and ruin it all dressed up as we (secularists) are materialistic.

  • He's saying some things that makes sence, but his interpretation of that verse doesn't seem that well done. It seems he's talking about our physical things dissolving, and burning, but this verse doesn't seem to have anything to do with physical things, but the actual heavens themselves burning.

  • I fail to see how I am a slave to Satan. What, pray tell, are the signs that I am a "slave?" Because I don't believe the same as you?

  • It's a lie. You may feel free, but you're not! you're a slave to Satan and to sin. Christ is freedom. Christ breaks chains; not Satan!

  • Yes, Christ frees us from sin, but capnickmorgan does have a point. (I am a Christian.) The apostle Paul called himself a slave of Christ. For the Christian, whose heart has been changed by God, serving God is joyful and wonderful. For those who do not love God, serving God would feel much like he said. The problem is, capnickmorgan's heart was never changed.

  • @ASLOAN02 god is more powerful than satan why doesnt he just destroy satan

  • So God goes to all of the trouble of making this beautiful, complex world and it's all supposed to just get trashed? And that includes ANIMALS!!?? Is he seriously suggesting God is going to burn our pets and all the varieties of wildlife that we spend so much time trying to protect?

What about the merging of heaven and Earth and the restoration of this planet and resurrection bodies etc?

Every now and then Driscoll really blows it. This doesn't encourage me to have faith, I'm sorry to say.

  • He is just showing what the word of God says...we are to take care of the Earth now...but Thank God there will be a new Earth...one that has never been polluted...as a organic freak and someone who loves animals all my life I am full of joy that what China, India and the rest of us have done will be made new...new....wow...that is wonderful.

  • "So God goes to all of the trouble of making this beautiful, complex world and it's all supposed to just get trashed?"

Creation, while it is very beautiful and complex, is not what God cares about most. We, who were made in his likeness and image, are who God cares for. We are above all other creation in his eyes. Whether it be animals or land. Also, I'm sure he didn't go through any trouble with creation. Just wanted to point that out.

  • What I am interested in, in that case, is your take on NT Wright's interpretation of Revelations:

He says that it isn't the case that this world gets trashed, but that heaven and Earth eventually join together, and that this fallen world is repaired and brought to ultimate glory through its merging with heaven.

This makes far more sense to me, because it gives a reason to care for the well-being of God's creation. The alternative is to say that creation doesn't matter, which I find dangerous.

  • What verses does he use to make his point?

  • Christ is the "woodpile".

  • He was making the point that everything you put on a pedestal will be destroyed and become nothing EXCEPT for what you have in Jesus. And all we have in Jesus is a relationship with God that can never be destroyed. Awesome.

  • Dgeerriimmin doth protest too much. Keep pushing God away and you will get exactly what you are asking for. But here's the thing "A man can no more diminish God's glory by refusing to worship Him, than a lunatic can blot out the sun by scribbling 'darkness' on the walls of his cell." - CS Lewis

  • "If we want hell then hell is what we'll have"

If you want to become a slave, then don't be surprised when independent thought becomes more and more difficult.

  • I've pushed God as far away from myself as I can any fictional being, but his crazies keep existing. All I ask is that they stop being crazy, but I guess that's too much.

  • Love the message

  • ALL of us are enslaved - what Jesus has done enables Christians to decided who/what we're enslaved TO, God or something else.

Romans 6 shed light on this.

  • What's wrong with being enslaved to someone perfect??

  • Same as what's wrong with being enslaved to anyone. It is insulting, degrading, and evil. Some would say that the fact that it's supposedly done for your own good only makes it worse!

But none of this matters, as god is far from perfect.

  • @8bradm the only one perfoect is God. and then again we are not enslaved to Him.

  • @8bradm the slave part!!!

  • except when it's God it's not idolatry.

idolatry is defined by it not being God.

  • Thats a challenging message! Thanks for all you do!

  • Heh Heh . . . I Bet Joel Olsteen would argue with you on that one!!

    Excellent message!!

  • im i think he would all joel olsteen talks about is money and how to have a better life now. lol...........
