let's stop & look at this critically for a moment. if one murder occurs in an average american city of 300,000 people, most people wouldn't take that to mean that america's democratic experiment is a failure. so if one murder occurs at a rock concert with 300,000 in attendance, why would anyone take that to mean that the counterculture was a failure? we've got to apply the same standard.

This was a Woodstock copycat, and a bad one. Without self discipline, this is what you get. A bunch of drunken and doped up hooligans. This isn't what music is about. Rolling Stones are, without a doubt, one of the most overrated rock bands in history. I wouldn't sit through their concert for $1000.

I saw them live in 81 or 82 and frankly of the literally hundreds of acts I've seen live (including for relevance both US festivals) they were well among the top 10 disappointing hacks live, number 1 being springsteen and his born in USA yawner at LA coliseum.
They didn't play woodstock 'cause Mick Jagger was filming a movie in Australia and Keith was waiting for his gilfriend to give birth to thier first child. You are entitled to your opinion no matter how misinformed and close minded you seem to be. Who do you listen to ABBA?

I love this. The idiots probably passed on Woodstock in a fit of hubris, and as usual, tried to catch up with everyone else. Most overrated band ever. The only reason they still make music(and dear god, it's terrible) is because people are to chickenshit to say they don't actually like them that much, for fear of looking uncool.Even their copycat band Aerosmith is dogshit.

us was that after woodstock we began living in a fantasy of "let's through a large concert for free, and don't worry, people will just chill out and enjoy the show." There was only one thing they forgot would come in the way, HUMAN NATURE.

I have no particular love for the handful of HAs I have met but this was not their fault at all. Security at such events SHOULD be heavy handed.
