The good news....my lost love of 30+ yrs ago just reappeared in my life admitting his 'mistake' when he walked away. We're communicating and get a chance now and then to interact and the same feelings are still there for both of us. We met when he was 24 and I was 36. I'm approaching 70 and the love is still there. Never give up on love:-)

Hard to listen to without tears - "remembering how it used to be" going through bad times in a marriage with this song for the backdrop. That marriage will nevertheless be 45 years young this September, but the emotion this song conjured all those years ago is still right on the shirt-sleeve.

@StripeRich I feel your pain and share your determination to find one who is right. Never give up searching because of the pain. But I believe it is a rare thing for each person in a couple to see the other as the one who makes their life complete. Hold that feeling and it will work and the good memories will pile up for later years. If it fails some day, there is always someone else. Hearts heal more easily than most realize.

Excellent Song in everyway. I used to run a radio station recently and we would play stuff like this. But, as usual, the corporate radio machine doesn't think you want to hear songs like this, they will continue to play the same 300 song over and over and over....Very sad.

I heard this song play on a lite station I just started listening to. they play a lot of older stuff that you don't hear on other pop stations(even the oldies stations)-this song being one of them-I heard the song b4 but had no idea it was him. The only songs i know by him are hungry eyes(which I've grown tired of over the years) & all by myself(which I love, and also didn't know it was him at first) I wonder if there are other 70s songs he has that I'd like.

@vidlvr99 Not a '70s hit, but "Make Me Lose Control" is another one of his hits (from 1988). Also before his solo career he was lead singer of the Raspberries, who had several hits, including "Go All The Way," a top 10 from 1972.

This is one of my favorite songs of all time! But...it's also one of my most favorite classical pieces too since if was lifted almost note for note from Rachmaninov's Second Symphony, Third Movement. Eric was heavily influenced by Sergei Rachmaninov and used the Second Symphony (for this piece) and the Second Piano Concert (Second Movement) for All By Myself.  Rachmaninov wrote incredibly beautiful music full of yearning, loving and longing.

WOW! I haven't heard this song in ages! I used to think it was a little corny when I was younger but it grows on you and it's one of those songs that you never forget once you hear it. Reminds me of a Beatles era type song. Thanks for posting this!
