good interview i like judas priests music and the british steel album is good that chick is hot but you see i'm not a really big rob halford fan not because he's gay but I just don't see why some people make such a big deal out of him wouldn't say he's the best singer out there
@trex6321 i'm guessing if you are only mentioning british steel that you've only heard material primarily from that album. incidently, that album has halford's least technically impressive vocal work. listen to the song Victim of Changes...you will know what I he is considered to be so technically amazing. Is he the very best? No. Is he one of the best? DEFINITELY.
@mickmos - from Painkiller and Ram it Down I like only the songs Leather Rebel and Ram it Down, cuz they are really the best and kick ass.
..and yea, the Hell patrol...
From "Point of Entry" I can only listen to Heading... and Don't go.
And from 70's? I feel loved in a song Run of the mill. Also Starbreaker, Sinner, Victim of Changes, Epitaph, Dreamer Deceiver, Exciter, Heroes end, Hell bent... were very good songs to listen. But that is only 1 or 2 brilliants on a whole album
That's almost like KoRns name, it doesn't really matter what the name is, it's the music. And if u listen to them the name does actually go with the music, as does slipknot
Sadly, the album they were working on was "Turbo", which was by far the worst album they ever made. Sadly, it sold well and Ram It Down was the follow up as they vowed that if Turbo had failed "Painkiller" which was their best since Screaming For Vengeance would have been their next album. I saw them the night before I graduated from high school in 1986 and they just sucked. I never thought I would say that about them.
@mickmos rocka rolla, sad wings of destiny, sin after sin, killing machine, british steel, screaming for vengeance, defenders of the faith, and painkiller are just all amazing.
@codebabe so would you dare to compare Painkiller to Defenders? DOTW has 90% of great songs, SFV has 70% of great songs, and Painkiller has only 20% of great songs!
@szymusiek1980 i enjoy listening to painkiller straight through as much as defenders. better drumming, its just full on metal. i mean idk if i'd say its better but i enjoy it alot. painkiller has lots of great tunes. the title track, leather rebel, night crawler, leather rebel, hell patrol, all guns blazing, a shot at glory, a touch of evil, i could list the whole album.
@codebabe this modern sound of Painkiller is the natural succession of progression - new style of percussion, new sound of guitars, better quality. But this is only an areola. Painkiller is not so exciting and delighting like DOTF. DOTF has a spirit, it contains a climate of the year 1984, it simply screams the 80's. When I hear Defenders, It's like the feeling of whole reality of the world in 1984.
Maybe you don't feel that essence; you look at different things which fascinate you in Painkiller
@szymusiek1980 defenders is cool. it is very mid 80s sounding. which isn't necessarily a good thing. as i dont care for the production of a lot of 80s albums. i enjoy the sound of true 80s metal(meaning non hair metal bands). i dont care for the really airey sounding snare drums or the overuse of synths all that much. some great songs were written in that time but i enjoy late 80s to mid 90s production a lot more.
That's becasuse Judas Priest was actually an old curse phrase to Christians, thus the band Judas Priest's play on words. So basically the band name is not only ironic (since they don't exactly play Christian music) but is also like cursing multiple times when chanting their name.
What's interesting is that Halford has stated before that they are not an anti Christian band, rather the name was used because it was catchy and would get people's attention. not unlike the name black sabbath.
@codebabe Sabbath is a great example, they're very much the same way. Tony Iommi as far as I know, is still Christian. He wears crosses around his neck every concert and even crosses on his guitar! But with Priest you're right. They started just like how Sabbath did since Sabbath helped them out on a few occasions.
I've heard that Iommi is Christian as well. I'm guessing priest got their name influence from sabbath. Check this out though man, all these early heavy rock bands' names, two words, three syllables; Led Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, Deep Purple, Judas Priest....coincidence???lol I find it fascinating personally!
lol that's not an uncommon saying. i'm pretty sure that has to do with the band's choice in calling themselves that is because it was an expression, but i'm not sure.
Defenders is 10 1 - rockarolla sad wings sin after sin stained class hell bent unleased in the east british steel point of entry screaming 10 - defenders
you guys that have to make stupid immature comments about Halford being gay..need to check yourself people that are secure in the sexual identity is not threatened by others sexuality it's ussually people that are unsure of their sexuality that are insecure and have to make derogatory comments to try to convince themselves that they don't have those tendencies...so turn your judgemental flashlight on your own soul..
ROB HALFORD is THE METAL GOD, a living legend. His contributions to metal are very well known by everyone in the metal scene (his voice, leather and spikes, etc.) This man definitely deserves a special place in metal history.
So being such a talented person, what the fuck should we care if the he is gay ? It is totally irrelevant.
I attended the Priest concert in Mexico City a month ago and believe me, at 57 Halford still rules.

Turbo was a "shift" for the Priest. I saw the Turbo tour at Compton Terrace. I think? Raven opened up. I always liked the guitar solo on 'Parental Guidance" didn't care for the song that much though. I will love Priest forever regardless
