  • ya...screw the assholes who took such a treasure away from Salt Lake!

  • Wow what year was this taken? The Granite sign is moving. Those were good times in Sugarhouse.

  • All that fiat money in the fractional banking system has provided the funding to cannibalize what is real and replace it with what is sterile and illusory.

  • Soren Simonson tried valiently to keep Sugarhouse alive, but the fuddie duddies remaining on the council voted for owners rights even though he is a super dumb blind dork to his impact on the character of Sugarhouse. Hopefully lessons were learned.

  • Omg i loved that shop with wigs..oh and sugarhouse coffee was the best..best chai tea ive ever had is it gone now too

  • I miss the old stores in sugar house

  • Hey come on. We got a great new hole in the ground with some trees behind an ugly fence. Makes me want to hang out down there even more and spend money at the parking lot box stores across the street. This place sucks now. I am almost glad he is losing money after tearing down the buildings!

  • Wait so you are saying that you are glad this project is failing? So at this point now that the buildings are torn down it's better to just have a big hole in the ground vs having this development? Is that what you are saying?

Right it's much better to have a hole in the ground then to have a mix-use project with condos, office space and ground level retail. Yea that makes alot of sense.

  • Yes in a way I am glad its failing! This will inure fines on him causing him to lose the area and have someone else come along who really does have the money to go through with it. For one the streets will need a complete redo to handle the traffic.

  • Now if only they would tear down the DI and the liquor store. Those are the establishments that really attract the rifraff.

  • I am so pissed if its changing...it won't be the same...TIME TO MOVE TO 9TH AND 9TH PEOPLE!!! thats the next cool place to be!!

  • All Gone!

  • I think the new project will only improve Sugarhouse and take it to the next level.

    It's called Growth.

  • You don't know what your talking about. Sugarhouse is an area where REAL people are. If you go to Gateway you do not see real people...when sugarhouse is done being remade it will be a new gateway...it will be hard to find the real people.

  • TheNotugly

Do your homework, this development will be nothing like the gateway. The only people I ever see at sugarhouse are hippies that are high. And I don't call those REAL people. I call those people who need to get jobs.

  • Growth huh? Have you been by there lately? Its a big hole with a ugly fence in front of it. So when is a hole with a few trees in the ground called growth. Bet you shop across the street from it too!

  • I don't think you people know what you are talking about. Infact I bet you are hippies and are high.

Yes it is called growth since we live in one of the top fastest cities in the country. With growth comes development. Those buildings were old and worn down to a point that they wasn't safe anymore. These developers know they can get alot more out of building a midrise vs just building another single story building.

However this development so far has turn out to be a disappointment.

  • WTF? They're going to tear down parts of Sugarhouse? How sad! Sugarhouse has such an awesome character! I've been dreaming of moving back since I moved away two years ago. Why do people with money get to tear down great areas just to turn it into the Gateway Mall #2? So, who's behind this idea? The LDS Church, Boyer's, etc?

  • and it's fucking gone,,,, shit

  • Are people in Utah this ugly? They look like a bunch of drugged-out hippies.

  • I don't really care for Sugarhouse but this project is going to take whatever character Sugarhouse had left and trash it. Kinda sad.

  • NO FreaKING WAY! I moved away last year and I can't belive people are going to tear it down already! :'( I spent my childhood there, all my memories and oh, it's just so sad to loose such a great part of utah.
