  • @blakasassin1

You'll know when the time is right, all you have to do is get stuck into it.

  • Again, great video. Keep up the great work mate.

  • Ever seen a teacher roar at some kid who is misbehaving etc and then turn to the well behaved kid waiting by the side of them and smiled and said "how can I help you" as if it never happened?

  • how do you get yourself to stay calm and relaxed beating that anxious sick feeling you get in the pit of your stomach ?

  • @a4c09 go to the website and look up the combative psychology material mate :)

  • Excellent points brother! Thank you for the vid!

  • @fgecic2 thanku :)

  • well said my friend

  • EXCELLENT breakdown my friend! Thank you for the video. Btw, are you back in England yet?

  • @csi402 thank you, still in NZ for now mate

  • Great video as always:-)

  • Go to China live on goats milk for ten years with Shaolin Monks and learn the ways of Kung Fu! Then you will be ready for the violent carnage resulting from going for a quiet drink in a Uk town centre pub!

  • I am quite good at going berserk =]

  • Basically swiftly bombard your enemy with attacks that are propelled with sinister intent.

  • very needed video. people need to understand this. This is the kinda thing that could save lives. Great as always Richie. Keep them coming!

  • In Danzan Ryu, which is fairly traditional, we talk about "shin" (not your lower leg) which is an attitude that I think is probably the same as he is talking about here. It is aggressive, but controlled, and it teaches "do whatever is necessary" while being in control. I don't think the word "shin" is the right word, but it is the word we use.

I think he is right on. Aggression is key, but you must be in control of that aggression. Cold detachment might be ideal, but it's too hard to do.

  • @hkdharmon

I heard similar things from my boxing instructor. You have to explode and quickly put a threat down as forcefully as possible without getting lethal. He says the explosion is important because thats what it takes to knock someone around enough that they want to leave the fight rather than continue it.

  • @fangorn23 Yes, I agree. Explosive with continous pressure until you are done.

  • I love all these psychological aspects!! To know them and to understand them helps a lot more than any punch or kick in real self protection ;-)

  • I was discussing this ''detachment'' thing with guys in my aikido/jiujitsu class the other night (and the discussion continued in the pub:P) and they were saying naw, no you have to remain calm, collected and focused. Which is key, focusing, but i have had a few contacts in recent months and it was nothing like that. You have to have an 'aminal' instinct kinda thing. You have to be able to just explode with violence to deal with that contact, after the threat is removed return to being you.

    :)

  • really good video, i think soldiers are trained the same way, aren't they?

i like klasco1991s statement: "so basically use your aggression, don't let it use you "

  • It is my experience that in a potential violent confrontation on the street, the one wearing the mohawk has already got the upper hand. Lol.

  • @bongapendo Especially if its hard gel - watch those spikes.. ^_^

  • so basically use your aggression, don't let it use you ...btw nice Mohawk dude.

  • Extremely Factful and informative...

    Very meaningful stuff..

  • Excellent stuff Richard.

    Like it!

  • Great vid Richie! wondering, do you like the "flicking a switch" analogy for turning on the mental state your talking about, or do you have a better one?

  • @ToraJutsu01 I think he used the term himself in the past, switching between "normal" you and "fighting mode" you.

  • @andy7666 yeah i thought it was richie i heard use it but i wasnt sure. cheers!

  • @ToraJutsu01 yep it was ;)

  • Love your stuff M8!
