I've heard (pardon the pun) that most of Pete's hearing loss has come from headphones in his studio. I'm not sure how true this is, seeing as his gigs are likely to be producing more noise and he can turn his headphones down, but certainly the sheer exposure time in the studio mixing and recording could certainly be higher.

God has nothing to do with it. His hearing was damaged by his own actions (Smothers Brothers explosion/years of being too close to amps), not intentional obviously, but it wasn't lost for no reason. As for Zach's comment? Pete isn't "slightly talented" as that lame quote said, hes a fucking master, then again, it all comes down to opinions.

Just one little correction: Keith overloaded the bass drum on the Smothers Brothers and that sent Pete flying (he did not expect that). A lot of musicians play with loud amps and manage to keep their hearing (to some degree). It is just unfair how biology works.

And I agree with you about the "slightly talented" crack! Pete and the 'Oo pretty much taught me how to play the guitar and I still look to them as a source of many inspirations.

Exactly what i thought. I believe he went 95% deaf in his right ear and 80% in his left and now hes about 50% in both ears because of it.
