This dance is not Pontian Greek, nor Turk. This dance's origin is not in north Anatolia. Yes Rums or Greeks had a Pontian State in North Turkey but this dance was not born in that region.I am sorry.I am very objective here.I am not saying it's a Turk dance either.This dance belongs to Geogians and Laz people. This is really funny, because I have similiar arguments with Turks of Hamshen Armenian origins, in some cases they sepak an old Armenian dialect and we understand each other and even swear at each other in our old language.
That is what fate brought to these people, but slowly because on internet , youtube and access to more factual information a lot is changing, an awakening is taking place, because untill recently they were even afraid to say they were Armenian.

@mustancu I open a book from my xwrio the other day and guess what! all our food is Turkish names ? What the f%ck ? The only one was pastoma ( pasto rama ) greek.. Baklava/Halva etc are Persian. But Turkish state is fairly New and i can say that some of the food they have , has contributions from our furthers in the Pontos. Greeks borrowed a lot of concepts from the Turks, like Gyro came from Doner Kebab and Baklava came from Turks, but somethings are the other way around, like the salad. The byzantine Empire lasted 1,123 years. The people in Anatolia during the Empire already had an established culture. Food, dances, music, dress. What happened to all of this culture when the turks took Anatolia? did it disappear? NO!! Many things were adopted from the Byzantine people in Anatolia.
