You should try gamo blue flames for high velocity shooting they're made to match pbs speeds but they're lead based so they grab more rifling improving accuracy but that fun looks sweet I can't wait to get one
winchester is honest with velocity, meaning a normal pellet 7gr, and kodiaks are great and retain most of its energy at 25yards and over. 900 for 10.5 is so good power, thanks for doing video, we rely on you sometimes to help with a purchase. if you can a velocity for pba in walther hunter 25 cal. i have heard 31gr are 607 wich is good for a super heavy pellet.
i am looking at this the gamo whisper deluxe and the remington vantage and i cant make up my mind. This gun looks excellent but i like being able to reload and shoot fast. any thoughts u might have regarding this choice would be much appreciated!
the whisper is a great rifle.. if you can get an older model with the metal trigger.. do.. the newer plastic triggers are not as well made and not upgradeable. The vantage is a great gun for the money. Very well built and a lot of fun to shoot.
Since I can get the NP XL in .22, I'd pick the Benjamin. If it were .177 vs .177, I'd pick the Winchester. It is the only .177 super magnum springer that I've found to be accurate and easy to shoot.
I started blogging at airgunweb (dot) com and one thing lead to another. Basically I spent 2 years blogging and doing videos without any support other than getting the products. I spent about 6 months doing everything out of my pocket. My first year I averaged 1 written review a week to prove the concept and improve my writing. I got help and took any advice I could from those in the business to help improve. Hard work and humility pays off...
at what range.. .177 really looses its punch after a certain distance.. I'd like to see like 800 fps or better just so you can know that you're going to put the bird down with 1 well placed shot.
@AirGunWeb hey rick , which one is better do you think Benjamin disco .22 / Winchester 1100 .177 or Gamo .22 ? i want & i do like heavy long and loud Air rifle
Hi there. What do you think about the .22 Benjamin Trail NP wood stock (not the XL, the shorter one). I'm considering getting one as my first serious airgun. Do you have any better recommendation in the same price range ? Its about $230 at pyramid. Thanks for the vids, they are great help !
That'll be great if you could review it. I haven't seen any review video and I think it deserves one. What I like about it is that its a .22 with decent power but relatively small/lightweight.
Hey Rick, I noticed your mention of the cfx that it's under-lever cocking mechanism should prevent inaccuracy...will that be the same in the Winchester, or not since the entire barrel disconnects?
That is what I've heard as well.. My experience is that manufacturer maters.. I've not shot any of the really high end fixed barrels.. I had the RWS 52 which is very nice, but I'd like to shoot some of the really high end stuff. This rifle surprised me because the barrel floats, but seems to really hold great groups.
you'll be fine with the kodiaks.. the hobbies are very light.. I'd rather err on the side of a heavier pellet than go with a lighter one.. the lighter the pellet often the less accurate.
Hey Rick i had a crosman pumpmaster 22cal. at the time when i had it i didnt know what i had. i caint find it anywhere. Online, walmart, academy, basspro. I caint find this gun anywhere. I caint even find it on the web. Any tips on where i can locate one.
I have this gun and believe me its worth the time it takes to get off every shot. I`ve added a 3x9x50 scope, heavy pellets, an extra scope stop. With the Crosman 4.0gr pellets it gives my gun a unbelievable 1400+FPS. If you have the time to try one you will see that this gun is worth every penny. Rick I want to thank you for all your reviews. I haven`t yet found my 22 but I`m narrowing it down. THANKS
You are very welcome.. I'm through my first of the moth admin and will be getting to some videos now.. we've got a big month... and a lot of good stuff to show everyone.. I'm considering a weekly show on BlogTV.. I'll post the address on my channel and website once I get the details ironed out.
Gun is a waste of time. Put the pellet in AND THEN cock the gun? Takes twice the time, Right? Furthermore, a break barrel would seem to be easier since the leverage in cocking the gun = the full length of the barrel rather than just a steel "bar" type mechanism. Just my opinion. Otherwise, this could be a fantastic gun. Don't know, but the seperate load and cock makes it seem like a Civil War Era bb rifle.
shoot one.. then you'll understand.. it may "look" awkward.. but it is a wonderful rifle.. powerful, accurate... better than any 1300 FPS springer that I've worked with.
@AirGunWeb Ok, thanks. Tell me one thing. If you had to buy a quality bb rifle which would have to last you a lifetime, provide high power and give you a true rifle feel, what would you choose? I have been looking, but want a gun which is proven. Thanks. JJ
BB rifle.. or Pellet Rifle...? Not sure on the bb rifle.. but on the Pellet Rifle.. Beeman R1.. or RWS 350 Magnum... It is possible that some of the new Benjamin NP rifles will be really nice.. especially the one in the laminate stock..
Yo Rick.... I`ve searched high and low look for a gas ram for my winchester 1100 xsu but no luck. I know that you have got connections of some sort. Please help me out.
Hey Rick... I watch your video on the wincester 1100 xsu all the time. one thing i`ve notice is that the beeman kodiak looks to be a real good brand. your third shot entered the same whole as you second. did you notice tha?
yep.. the kodiaks are the best for this gun.. they are heavy but still travel over 900 FPS. (the go 700 +/- in my 1000 fps rated guns). They are high quality and hit like a tank.
@AirGunWeb Haha. Yeah I have a crosman storm xt. The accuracy on it isn't very great in the first place but those lead free pellets just kill it completely.
hy rick! wich rifle you will chose if you have this rifle in .22 ,and walther falcon in .22 cal ,both with gas ram install? i ask you becouse i am not sure wich is better.what you advise me to take?
at the price ranges you are getting to.. let me add one more option... the RWS 350 Magnum... The 350 Magnum impressed the fire out of me.. very awesome rifle. If I could get the 1100 XSU in .22.. I'd take it over the Walther...
I really like this gun. i was thinking of getting the bengi trail np but i think this may have changed my mind. Previously, I wanted a super streak but changed my mind when i seen your walt falcan review and i bought a walther talon instead of streak. The talon .22 has been flawless for 1500 shots. I seen these guns on hatsen web sight (mod 100) a while back and am glad to see in U.S. now. could you please elaborate on the 4 way adjutable trigger this gun has? Will the sliding barrel wear out?
I'll take a look at the trigger and get back with everyone.. The trigger is one of the main reasons that I got this.. great trigger.. As for the rest of it.. it shows NO sign of wearing out so far.. I'm going to put a new scope on it and see what I can do with that.. i love this gun.
Hey Rick... After running about 500 pellets through my gun i found that the barrle want`s to come un scewed. Um thinking that there should be an enterchangerable barrle. is there such a thing for the winchester 1100 xsu?
I didnt think that you did reviews on rifles like that. they seem to be in a class of their own. My next rifle will be the 22 cal be i want to be sure of what um getting myself into. Man your reviews are always great and I`m always looking for somrthing new. Caint wait to see you review on the Talon. Thanks
It may be a month or two.. but the Talon has been on my short list for a while now.. I've got the RWS 34 and the Norica Goliath 88 in the queue for later this month..
Still lookin on the GTA web site for help with upgrades for the winchester 1100 XSU but still no luck. i havent gave up because um more than sure that there has to be something out there. um also looking for a 22 cal that has matched FPS as most 177 cals. Style is big for me so um lookin for something that looks like my winchester. if you know of anything that may have like looks please let me know. THANKS
I have the winchester 1100 XSU. And i give thanks to you for helping choose. Now i want to upgrade. Is there an upgrade power plant for the 1100 XSU? I caint seem to find anything. Help please
The 22 cal is always the better of all air rifles. today i finally got it sited at 50 yards. i dont know if its luck but hitting coins at 50 yards is sweet. I didnt believe it the first try but after the 2nd 3rd. I knew it was real. and the shots were with the PBA`s. i know the you may not believe this but its true. So far so good.
I've seen some pretty weird things when it comes to PBA ammo. My Gamo hunter liked them most of all.. go figure.. use what works as far as I'm concerned.
so, what caliber you advise me to take? 177 or .25? in .25 i think its the same as walther falcon on velocity.i was looking on the internet and you can install gas ram on this rifle the same gas ram on walther falcon.
I really like this gun.. but from what I've been told, it won't be offered here in the states in anything other than .177.. if you find one in .22 or .25, please let me know! If I had the option.. I'd go .22.
Thanks for doing the review on this rifle because it helped me pick the right one. Atleast from what I saw in your review. most people dont understand that this is truly a nice rifle. the detail well help you look past things like the weight and odd way of losding this gun. the fact the this gun likes the heavier pellets is what helped me site it. it is really a nice gun> more reviews please. THANKS
one comment talked about the Super Streak... that reminds me, Crosman now has what's called the Benjamin Trail. it's the next generation of the NPSS... it's basically a Super Streak with a gas spring. it would be cool to get the .22 version, or maybe even the .25 version. (although the velocity of the .25 doesn't look great... it seems on the weak side).
but the Benjamin Trail should be made in the USA and should be infinitely better than the Super Streak? maybe thoughts about it soon?
i have posibility to take this rifle in all 3 calibers.what you will advise me to take: in 177cal or .25cal?in .22 cal i dont want because i own already gamo whisper x in .22.what you think?
nope... different sized targets.. the kodiaks on the Benji shot over .5".. the kodiaks on this shot under a dime. I need to put something on the target for size reference.
@AirGunWeb bought a .22 rws springer like u suggested.hope uve seen cronicrash modified talon doin 1480 in .22 at 16.9 grain.all is well just so damn loud!!!
The way you rattled that bolt made me a little apprehensive. It seemed like it would be a very big hassle to shoot with all the loading. But you are right. It looks beautiful. Nice group with the PBAs. I was surprised lol.
That would be something.. but let me say that the rifle smoothed out after 200 shots and shoots almost as nice as a gas ram.. I don't know how they did it... but it one of the nicest rifles to date.
Thanks.. a lot of hard work and time.. but like everything else.. if you keep trying and don't give up, good things happen.. The 2260 should be something that I can get pretty easily.. I'll send a note to my Crosman rep.
The materials seem very sturdy.. the scope is OK.. but I'd replace it down the road. I guess we'll see how long it lasts.. I plan on keeping this and using it regularly.
the scope was decent for a 4x scope. I would put a leapers 3-9 or 4-16 scope on it. It has enough power to be effective at range even for a .177. I'm taking it to TX for some field use.. we'll see how that goes.. It may be too cold for me to spend too much time out doors.
It has simply a beautiful look. The work on the stock is very nice looking. The one thing I dislike is the automatic safety. That alone would make me not want to buy a gun.
I don't like it much either.. but it becomes part of the shooting routine to just take the safety off.. there is too much I like about the gun to let the safety hang me up.
Merry Christmas to you all too!.. This is made in Turkey.. Same folks that make the Walter Talon and Falcon hunter... This is not the first airgun that Daisy/Winchester has imported from over there.. it is really a nice gun.
man, i've been waiting for this one. this rifle caught my eye when i saw it on the Winchester page too (found it by pure luck) at PA's site. i wanted to see what you had to say about the scope too, because it just looks stupid how they did it. the Turks must not use scopes much or something because they really need a lesson in how to put scope mounts and rails on their guns. the idea on this one from the box is just stupid. but glad to see you found a way. i wouldn't have thought of that :P
I think they have a winner with this one.. put a decent scope with it and a decent set of rings and you have something that will beat the tar out of the other "magnum" springers, i.e. Gamo HE and Super Streak.
yeah. i really wanna get this gun now lol. especially in .22 caliber. i think it would be a lot better in .22 than in .177 with reaching 20 foot-pounds in .177. i can see about 25 foot-pounds in .22.
so how is the scope on the gun? it seems quite usable compared to the scopes on other combos. how is it really?
also is it too heavy to shoot off-hand? i can imagine that the gun is super heavy with all that spring.
im going to have to pick this thing up. looks like the perfect long-range hunter
They don't make in .22. I hope they come out with one.. The .177 actually shoots really well. I'm taking it out to TX for some long range hunting. The scope is decent for a 4x.. I'll put a nice leapers on it for sure. I have a 3-12 SWAT scope that I'll use.. It is very heavy, but I'll manage.
Looks like it kicks pretty hard,i've shot a .303 before and that kicked pretty hard for me and I weigh about 160. That was when I was 15 though. I agree with the airmaster 77,I shoot at 10 yards at my house and get half inch groups or smaller with no problem. Oh and happy holidays :)
Thanks for posting a video Rick, started to miss your videos. Looks like a cool gun,I actually prefer that kick, just something I think is cool. I wanted to ask you if you could summarize the Remington Airmaster 77 in a short paragraph. It's just an $80 gun from walmart, but I want to know your opinion on it.( I already have it ).
this gun actually kicks like a mule.. harder than some of my fire arms.. anyway, the Airmaster 77 is a great little rifle.. with lead pellets you can shoot as well at 10 yards as some rifles costing several hundred dollars.. it tops out at about 700 fps...
that is what I thought too... but they've done a great job making sure the barrel is secure when you close it.. really pretty neat system.. and the proof is in the shot cards.
Mostly I just like them and I can shoot them in my back yard.. I have plenty of "real" guns, but I like the sport of shooting airguns.. It is more difficult to hit the target and it takes more skill. I have a great 17hmr that I love.. but it is too easy.. lol..
not all of them, some are very easy to shoot, most pcp's are in fact easier to shoot than ".22 rimmys", they have no recoil, many are very quiet and powerful... but they are also expensive.
i got this gun for $130

Since I can get the NP XL in .22, I'd pick the Benjamin. If it were .177 vs .177, I'd pick the Winchester. It is the only .177 super magnum springer that I've found to be accurate and easy to shoot.

Hey Rick... After running about 500 pellets through my gun i found that the barrle want`s to come un scewed. Um thinking that there should be an enterchangerable barrle. is there such a thing for the winchester 1100 xsu?
TheNismo2006 2 years ago
I'm not sure.. I know they make it in .22 and .25 too.. would be very cool to just drop in a different barrel and go.

Man your reviews are always great and I`m always looking for somrthing new. Caint wait to see you review on the Talon. Thanks

I'm not sure if there is.. You can check the GTA Airgun Forum.. there is a large community there and if anyone knows of something, they'd be there.

TheNismo2006 2 years ago
I've seen some pretty weird things when it comes to PBA ammo. My Gamo hunter liked them most of all.. go figure.. use what works as far as I'm concerned.

so, what caliber you advise me to take? 177 or .25? in .25 i think its the same as walther falcon on velocity.i was looking on the internet and you can install gas ram on this rifle the same gas ram on walther falcon.
craparul 2 years ago
I really like this gun.. but from what I've been told, it won't be offered here in the states in anything other than .177.. if you find one in .22 or .25, please let me know! If I had the option.. I'd go .22.

Thanks for doing the review on this rifle because it helped me pick the right one. Atleast from what I saw in your review. most people dont understand that this is truly a nice rifle. the detail well help you look past things like the weight and odd way of losding this gun. the fact the this gun likes the heavier pellets is what helped me site it. it is really a nice gun> more reviews please. THANKS
TheNismo2006 2 years ago
more reviews are on the way..
thanks for the comments.

AirGunWeb 2 years ago
By all means take the 177. Its the only sweet spot if you ask me.
TheNismo2006 2 years ago
a lot of people like .177.. I still like .22.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
one comment talked about the Super Streak... that reminds me, Crosman now has what's called the Benjamin Trail. it's the next generation of the NPSS... it's basically a Super Streak with a gas spring. it would be cool to get the .22 version, or maybe even the .25 version. (although the velocity of the .25 doesn't look great... it seems on the weak side).
but the Benjamin Trail should be made in the USA and should be infinitely better than the Super Streak? maybe thoughts about it soon?
AirgunAddict256 2 years ago
I really hope to get one and soon... I have high expectations for that series.

i have posibility to take this rifle in all 3 calibers.what you will advise me to take: in 177cal or .25cal?in .22 cal i dont want because i own already gamo whisper x in .22.what you think?
craparul 2 years ago
I'd love to try this in both .22 and .25.. I'm guessing the .22 cal would be the sweet spot.
Rick

The super streak shot better with kodiaks than this one did from your other video
omnia12345 2 years ago
nope... different sized targets.. the kodiaks on the Benji shot over .5".. the kodiaks on this shot under a dime. I need to put something on the target for size reference.
Cheers.

in .177.. maybe.. the RWS rifles in .22 would be another good option.

Wow i know what my next gun is gonna be. Winchester is just such a good quality name.
Personally i like heavy guns. Iv never seen any air rifle that loads that way before. I like it though. Awesome gun!

this is why I stared doing reviews.. to find gems like this rifle..
rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
The way you rattled that bolt made me a little apprehensive. It seemed like it would be a very big hassle to shoot with all the loading. But you are right. It looks beautiful. Nice group with the PBAs. I was surprised lol.
halo2ninja 2 years ago
it slaps around until you lock it into place and then it is rock solid... truly amazing how accurate it is.

I Like the rifle, Its not beautiful looking but it has that old style look to it.
rdcd20 2 years ago
hy rick! it is posible to install gas ram for this rifle? i think he has the saime power plant like walther falcon.
craparul 2 years ago
That would be something.. but let me say that the rifle smoothed out after 200 shots and shoots almost as nice as a gas ram.. I don't know how they did it... but it one of the nicest rifles to date.

Congrats on your contract with pyramydair!!!! Hope to see more reviews soon, crosman 2260 perhaps.
bigdon90 2 years ago
Thanks.. a lot of hard work and time.. but like everything else.. if you keep trying and don't give up, good things happen.. The 2260 should be something that I can get pretty easily.. I'll send a note to my Crosman rep.
cheers.

@AirGunWeb
so rick you recommended this gun for me um a few questions u didnt cover in the vid.
What about the scope is it any good?
And the materials are they good quality?
Im looking for a gun that will last, is this gun year lasting quality?
thanks in advance!
naeros1234 2 years ago
The materials seem very sturdy.. the scope is OK.. but I'd replace it down the road. I guess we'll see how long it lasts.. I plan on keeping this and using it regularly.
Cheers.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Did you have any Problems with the scope on this rifle?
If so are there a decent well priced scope you would recommend on this rifle?
sumala321 2 years ago
the scope was decent for a 4x scope. I would put a leapers 3-9 or 4-16 scope on it. It has enough power to be effective at range even for a .177. I'm taking it to TX for some field use.. we'll see how that goes.. It may be too cold for me to spend too much time out doors.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Any good leapers scopes you would recommend at around 60-100 ish dollars.
sumala321 2 years ago
It has simply a beautiful look. The work on the stock is very nice looking. The one thing I dislike is the automatic safety. That alone would make me not want to buy a gun.
Gamovarminthunter1 2 years ago
I don't like it much either.. but it becomes part of the shooting routine to just take the safety off.. there is too much I like about the gun to let the safety hang me up.
Cheers.

hey rick how is it going. but do you recommend dis rifle or the walther talon?

Rick, Merry Christmas!!!!!
Rick, were was this rifle made? it looks like something I would buy to hunt with. thanks dan
1keloso1 2 years ago
Merry Christmas to you all too!.. This is made in Turkey.. Same folks that make the Walter Talon and Falcon hunter... This is not the first airgun that Daisy/Winchester has imported from over there.. it is really a nice gun.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
Hey rick this gun looks and shoots nicely.
Would you recommend this over the npss?
Again great review!
sumala321 2 years ago
In .177.. I'd pick this gun.. it is really nice.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
man, i've been waiting for this one. this rifle caught my eye when i saw it on the Winchester page too (found it by pure luck) at PA's site. i wanted to see what you had to say about the scope too, because it just looks stupid how they did it. the Turks must not use scopes much or something because they really need a lesson in how to put scope mounts and rails on their guns. the idea on this one from the box is just stupid. but glad to see you found a way. i wouldn't have thought of that :P
AirgunAddict256 2 years ago
I think they have a winner with this one.. put a decent scope with it and a decent set of rings and you have something that will beat the tar out of the other "magnum" springers, i.e. Gamo HE and Super Streak.
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
yeah. i really wanna get this gun now lol. especially in .22 caliber. i think it would be a lot better in .22 than in .177 with reaching 20 foot-pounds in .177. i can see about 25 foot-pounds in .22.
so how is the scope on the gun? it seems quite usable compared to the scopes on other combos. how is it really?
also is it too heavy to shoot off-hand? i can imagine that the gun is super heavy with all that spring.
im going to have to pick this thing up. looks like the perfect long-range hunter
AirgunAddict256 2 years ago
They don't make in .22. I hope they come out with one.. The .177 actually shoots really well. I'm taking it out to TX for some long range hunting. The scope is decent for a 4x.. I'll put a nice leapers on it for sure. I have a 3-12 SWAT scope that I'll use.. It is very heavy, but I'll manage.
cheers.

Looks like it kicks pretty hard,i've shot a .303 before and that kicked pretty hard for me and I weigh about 160. That was when I was 15 though. I agree with the airmaster 77,I shoot at 10 yards at my house and get half inch groups or smaller with no problem. Oh and happy holidays :)
ryan1992916 2 years ago
Thanks for posting a video Rick, started to miss your videos. Looks like a cool gun,I actually prefer that kick, just something I think is cool. I wanted to ask you if you could summarize the Remington Airmaster 77 in a short paragraph. It's just an $80 gun from walmart, but I want to know your opinion on it.( I already have it ).
ryan1992916 2 years ago
this gun actually kicks like a mule.. harder than some of my fire arms.. anyway, the Airmaster 77 is a great little rifle.. with lead pellets you can shoot as well at 10 yards as some rifles costing several hundred dollars.. it tops out at about 700 fps...
cheers.

moving barrel? that's stupid, that's the whole point of an under lever, is to have accuracy of a fixed barrel...
nickbownz 2 years ago
that is what I thought too... but they've done a great job making sure the barrel is secure when you close it.. really pretty neat system.. and the proof is in the shot cards.
Rick

Besides being loud and seeming to kick a fair amount, looks like a fine gun! Thankfully Gamo didn't make it, or they'd say it's a 1350 FPS gun! XD

Hey rick, I tried airguns and i've purchased a few but they are such a pain in the ass compared to .22rimmys.. why do you shoot airguns so much?
Sochill247 2 years ago
Mostly I just like them and I can shoot them in my back yard.. I have plenty of "real" guns, but I like the sport of shooting airguns.. It is more difficult to hit the target and it takes more skill. I have a great 17hmr that I love.. but it is too easy.. lol..
Rick
AirGunWeb 2 years ago
The back yard aspect is true but i don't know about it being easy unless you benchrest... still all funnn
merry christmas
Sochill247 2 years ago
not all of them, some are very easy to shoot, most pcp's are in fact easier to shoot than ".22 rimmys", they have no recoil, many are very quiet and powerful... but they are also expensive.
