So ur saying Mary had a little lamb isn't hard to play? Age is nothing when it comes to interpretation. You are right, not every kid can play with passion and joy but how far do they get in their musical career? Not very. And yes classical pieces are hard to interpret but isnt every piece?
This concerto isnt really that hard to play... im not sure you could call this kid a virtuoso... thats just my opinion. Don't get me wrong- he's a fantastic player...
@haydo143 my friend no music is easy to play...have that in mind ...and this is HAYDN come on how come you say this isn´t difficult is much more than just fingers displacement in the violin or any instrumen (except voice)...theres also the interpretation and the correct one not just playing for the sake of playing...you have to know/or suppose what were the feelings of the composert while writting this piece :) (im sorry for my english im not an first languague english spoker)
@haydo143 nothing is esay to play (refferring to classical pieces) there is much more than just fingers displacement and how fast to play something...hear the music ...this kids does it really really good he is a prodigy not all kids can play with a joy and passion and interpretation :)
@djclarity222 I don't normally respond to the stupid idiots who haunt this space but you really take the cake. This video is wasted on you. Why don't you just go away!
@LightLonger Violin and cello are the same difficulty level, it kinda depends on who's playing though. Well the violin hurts your neck and it's at first hard to do the vibrato and cello makes your arm hurt at first but i just got used to it. I play the violin and it's hard to play at first but gets so much easier but now stuck on the vibrato and my friend plays the cello and her whole arm sores sooo much at first but she got used to it and somehow played beautifully.
my friend tryed to smile while playing the violin and found it quite hard. she;s been playing since 1st grade she now a high schooler.Just as Elainelps0421 said he doesnt have to look like he's having a fabulous time while playing because violin is pretty hard.
Why do people think someone needs to look like they are enjoying themselves while concentrating on playing an instrument as difficult as the violin? It's hard to do what he's doing. He's not likely going to accompany himself with a series of belly laughs.
@Elainelps0421 The audience also enjoys the human expressions while playing. A wrong or controversial body language typically triggers discomfort in the audience, and then severely damages the way an even masterly played song is been received.
@Elainelps0421 I totally agree with you.I play violin and my parents keep telling me 'Stop looking so serious'.Well ,music is serious.Besides, does it matter you've a massive cheesy grin or a frown while playing? You'd have to be concentrating on the piece!
Love his clothing, his hair and of course, his playing. He really feels the music. There are some other music prodigys that play like robots, with perfect technique but no emotion. I think he has both things. Bravo!
this guy is ammmmazzzzing!! And seeing as i am a human being, i am racist, and my racism is doing its best to find an impossible way to undermine this
i played this when i was 13.....it was so fun to play...it had light and fun sound....the hard work i put in it is worth it when you know how to play it....

I like him very much...it seems he really knows what he's doing. He makes a beautiful sound, he's deep in this music, and he has a great technique. What else? I wish I could play like him
wow.....my ONE COMMENT started this ENTIRE conversation! Yes, I DO play the violin, no i am not a proffessional, and yes I do understand that all violins are different. THey all have different sounds, different visual attributes, and different qualities that can never be compared to one another. No, i am not a retard, and looking back on this conversation, it is all extremely misunderstood. that was merely a typo, and no one would be stupid enough to believe that a viola is played on the ground.
halothree876 (6 days ago) that is a cello stupid viola is not played on the ground
this guy is a retard because he is say that that violin (NOT a viola because you can clearly hear the E string) is a cello he is a complete and total retard
u call urself a violist? and don't know the interments of the rest of the orchestra? only cellos are played on the ground with players seated, base are very huge so a lot of the time the performer have to stand.
woops! typo there *is it not played on the floor* sorry about that, but yes, i DO know the other instruments of the orchestra. and, F.Y.I the base is played both ways. in the youth symphony, they played standing up, in the school orchestra and band, it was played sitting down on stools. and you can get very small bases. i used to have one.
that is right, the only way that differ viola and violin right now is to hear them, the string and the position, cause u can't see them side by side to tell which is a little longer, from top to bottom, not sure how much, but not a lot. even though down in history they are very different
viola is only a little bigger than the violin (longer from top to bottom), and don't have the high E string on the right but with a low C string on the left, so from high to low it have A D G C four strings not like E A D G of a violin. and this solo music of Haydn is for violin even if u try it on viola u have to shift very high on A i would say, don't play viola, not sure, but i do play this piece on violin, this kid dose it well.
I just looked at your comments... This kid is really good. No violinist is immune to advice or constructive criticism. You are not helping at all. How old are you? And are YOU a professional? You sure talk big.
@TheSingingViolinist His technique is really amazing. I think that before making any critics or judgment people must think about: how old is this boy?, how difficult is this repertoire?. He's a musician. A remarkable talent. BRAVO
This young man is not only talented - he is supremely gifted. The interpretation is mature way beyond his years. He understands what he is playng.!!!Bravissimo.
yea sorry if you played the violin you would probably never say that again lol. there are so many tiny little things that can be so different, affecting the instrument in so many ways..
Yeah, I do play the violin. And I realize there are variations between all violins, strad models, Del Gesus, Amatis, differences in flaming, and so on. But from what you can see in the video, it is impossible to see these tiny variations. Thus, it looks the same as any other instrument. And in the end, looks are not important, sound is. If you played the violin, you would probably never suggest that.
then explain what is wrong about that. I would love to learn. And while you're at it, give me one time in this video where we can see any feature of the violin that (appearance wise) would allow it to be compared to anyone else's
Let's keep this a peaceful conversation. First of all, we can see the shade of brown has a tint of yellow, and that depends on the wood. The wood has a major effect, and the tone of different kinds (like say, Stradivarius vs. plain old Cedar) has a significant difference.
Since I am running out of character count, I shall make this short. The "gloss" of the surface sometimes is also an effect of how the wood is made suitable for the instrument.
really if you play violin you would know. He has great articulation but without reading the notes, the notes are not hard. He is switching from 1st position to 3rd position and then some 5th. But he has great skill in overcoming the slurs and ties perfectly.
The other guy's right, He doesn't seem to hev a care in the world! that could be a sign of cockiness! But that also shows that he's just really good! Which He is!!!
Well if you stop looking at him and making silly comments and just, you know, listen.. it's fabulous. Great playing. Sure, the intonation is not always perfect, but it's still very skillful for his age. I'm sure when most of you were his age you could barely hash peperoni pizza. So calm down.
So many prodegies can get their fingers around notes, but lack the intonation accuracy, clarity, style and tone. This kid is special. He's got it all. Kudos to his teacher. Very nice playing. Well done!
He is amazing! But he is letting the scroll fall and resting his elbow against his side... Only technical problem there is. He needs a shoulder rest then he won't need to rest his violin arm on his side...
Sorry I meant "is hard to play

So cute throwing the bow at the end. Definitely a showman! But not without the talent to back it up!
