it's about time someone can see what talent is required to shoot such an action scene with "JUST ONE CAMERA" AND YOU HAVE TO GET IT ALL AND GET IT RIGHT IN ONE TAKE.
If it's not art onscreen then it's art somewhere else. You do what you think is the best way to reach out to the audience, wheather it's shaky footage or distorted colors.
As for the quote- I just made it up xD But I'm quite positive someone's said something similiar.
That 'Golden rule' applies to those shooting on film- Ever had a look at Battlestar Galactica footage? Handheld and zooming can really take your focus off the 'Digital homevideo' look of the film and follow the action instead.
This would not have been as good if shot on tripod with no zooming.
Just so you know, There's a new one by sony comming out at the end of the year. It will record on flash cards. Go to the Sony Web-site and order the DVD for the V1U... it's free.
I study film on film school here in Portugal. The problem is the White Balance - you either have it made manually wrong, or it was set to automatic. You should ALWAYS put in on the manual mode, and everytime you start shooting, you shoul zoon in any white object, and then do the white balance. Your white, for that situation, will be admitted as the one your zooming with the camare - and no more "blues" that were whites! Hope this helped =) go shoot now!
there is no way this is how it was shot. Deffinetly he is shooting off a projection or LCD. I want to see the best shots as well. When i get my hands on one I will post one of my clips. You can see my HVR-Z1U test on my page.
ok i`m interested in this camera, but i haven`t see any decent videos online... why is it so BLUE? is that how you wanted it to look? those colors are horrible...
How did you give it that bluish tint like the movie underworld?

Sorry for your BAD Eye sight... it was pure 24P kid.
darrylsmith 3 years ago
You may want to start by flippin that baby into 24p mode. That's totally interlaced.
csselement 3 years ago
This looks horrible. I highly doubt it's a HVR-V1U in 24p. I'd think any cinematographer would at least start with a little WHITE BALANCE.
csselement 4 years ago
Oh come on!!! you know it LQQKs just like something you would see in the movies....
You Love The Way it Looks.

question. I have a V1u and a crappy computer to edit standard def only.
If I use a computer that is HD capable, can I output my video res at 1920x1080 to play on a regular dvd, to be displayed on non-HD televisions?
Thanks.
fourthwall1 4 years ago
u can play hd on non hd tvs, but odviously it wont be displayed in hd. but it will still look nice ;p
Maz1989 4 years ago
wow i can get better quality and a better look on a handy cam than this
assualt911 4 years ago
Because your seeing True! 24P with a 3:2:3 pulldown in 29.97. This is why it has such a great Cinema LQQK!, Unlike Video.

Great look Man, and I'm pretty sure you know how to white balance. I think I'm going to get this camera.

i take that back..... You'll never learn or know anything about our business. And of course never be in it at any level.
i think you should go into retail camera sales @ your local Walmart. Your best suited for it.

The music is the BEST! part!...
darrylsmith 4 years ago
The music shouldn't be the best part when you are using a 4000K camera :x.
Nillok 4 years ago
this camcorder is great, but seriously if you're going to be spending $4000 on it, you should at least learn how to use it to make good looking video.
nice effort though, the midi keyboard music adds great effect

Go ahead... Try to find a good clean video on You Tube. The files are compressed to hell by youtube in order to make more space on they're servers.
