I am with mozilla on this: Mozilla's vice president of products, Jay Sullivan said it has no intention to run native code inside the browser, as

"These native apps are just little black boxes in a webpage. [...] We really believe in HTML, and this is where we want to focus."

As someone who works with C++ and javascript, I approve of this technology and seriously am considering porting all projects over to native client, even going so far as to requiring my clients to use Chrome. I have no doubt this is the future of software development. Mozilla and Opera may deny it now, but please, Javascript is not a real language. Javascript is really a step backwards from C++ and practically any other language I can think of. Excellent work, as usual, Google!

It is a joke. It is slow to develop, runs slow, has no strong typing. It is like going back to 1980. And this language is what the industry pushes. It is a joke. A cruel Joke. It is totally backwards, it slows down all progress. We will never make much progress with this language.

@Goobicon4507 Adobe is has this technology and it's called "Alchemy" they are working on it now.. If it means C++ code through flash without downloading files then I am all for it! look at Unreal Engine on flash!

So basically this is just an SDK for doing NPAPI-plugins for the browser? Is this made to have native apps on the Chrome OS later?

There is a plugin for firefox (i tested, it works) and chromium seems to be able to be used in nacl-mode, using a command line. It seems that they've tried to make it more safe by stopping the npapi to make system calls, so a .nexe wouldn't be able to mess around with your files. This is still in development stage and probably has a bunch of security issues, but is a cool project. Certanly better then O3D, that thing is too slow, even if it is easier to set up than this

Is this for Chrome, Android, Chromium, Firefox, IE? What's the security model? What are the limits?

Didn't MS IE activeX tried that a long time ago. It created all kind of security problems for IE. It was no use if all the admins/security experts suggest to turn off by default with every web security alert. I don't use IE for that reason. How is google going to handle that?

Nice. This could be useful for integrated browser games using a native graphics engine while still providing part of the UI using the browser. Will try this out once I have the time :)

You should not that this good for intranet application and very bad for internet application. But also for the intranet it has some bad sides too. those it work on my linux, iphone or android client? no.

@jsoconner NaCl uses a (more secure) subset of the x86 instruction set, so I guess it's only supported on such platforms.
