  • hi dan quick question iv slap it up here as im just watching back over old stuff to steal something..... why is it so hard for me to play a 4 draw scoop bend and release into a normal bend sooo easily but then can't get my head around this next bit 4 blow 3 blow and then 3 draw bend half-step to the 2 draw? it's the change from the 4 draw to 4 and 3 blow??? why is this and why does this not happen anywhere elae when i play!

  • @hohner2010 Dude, you have to work harder on your weaknesses. It's as simple as that. If it comes easy, bonus.

  • Wow, what a great lick. It's obvious that you two really like the harp

  • cool

  • the noise you get from holes 3 and 2 are diffierent, i can only get the grouning noise if i use the wording method for changing the sounds of my harp.... is this what your doing, or is your harp custom made?

DWWEEE (On draw 3 step bend ) DUUUUUU (On draw hole 2)

  • @hohner2010 are you getting good bends? we're talking more about holes 3-4. I don't know what else to tell you.

  • okay okay... but what about overlapping?

  • this is really cool video.i have myself just started to play harmonica some weeks ago :D

  • Did you ever attend Gindik harmonica jamcamp?

  • I was a coach at one of his camps last year. It was really a great experience.

  • great stuff,thanks.

  • Next time, maybe?

  • to the pain.

  • Loved it. Enjoyed watching you guys enjoying yourselves in such a hamonic way. Thanks for the lesson.

  • Thanks guys, excellent. Great to see harp nuts enjoying themselves. I think harp players might be a very close community world wide. Thanks for posting.

  • Man, I love watching the Dan's play together.

  • Looks like Dan "Ridgeway" plays his harp upside down...

So now if you're doing a Dan Ridgeway impersination, turn it over fella's!

  • he does. About 2% of the harp players I've met play it upside down.

  • Why did you put my last name in quotes? I assure you, my last name is Ridgeway; it's not a stage name.

  • Yeah. "Harmonica Dan" is the stage name. or "Ridge-Rock" that one's good, too.

  • I put your name in quotation marks to differentiate between the two Dans. As you can see, it's in quotations the first time, and not in quotations the second time around. No need to assure me about your name. I wouldn't care if it was a stage name or not... I would certainly hope it's not a stage name!

  • If you'll notice from his dry delivery, "Mr" Ridgeway has a unique sense of humor. I think he was just messing when he asked about the quotes. I differentiate by calling Ridgeway, "Harmonica Dan" because that's how scary talented I think he is.

  • You're right, it was supposed to be tongue-in-cheek.

  • Thanks guys this is great stuff and this is what my buddy Maz and I do together. He is a tongue blocker with old style influence and me I pucker play so I learn quite a lot from him as far as TBing is concerned.

With Adam Gussow we did the same call and response/copy me almost daily at his harp coarse in Klingenthal - it is really helpful.

  • Haha, very cool sounds coming out in the end. I hope I can riff like that someday... or even meet another harp play. Great job, Dan & Dan.

  • A classic lick. Sounds great and easy to play. Here it is tabbed out.

    4d 6b

    4d 4d* 6b

    4d* 4b 6b

    3d* 2d

  • Thanks.

For me it's easyer to do 3 blow at the end :)

  • this is awesome! i'm just dusting my harmonica off again, and i'll check it out!

i do this in my drum circles a lot, we call it "call and response"

    great vid dan!

  • that was badass at the end nicely done!

  • thanks a lot

  • You're fast at getting this stuff up. I'm happy it came out better than I thought it did!

  • I had a couple of edits, but it was generally all good. Fast? You're the one who called yesterday wondering if it was up yet.

  • What were te tabs? I can't really make it out what you said :( thanks.

  • This is a great video. There is actually an individual on a certain internet harmonica forum who actually believes learning from others is a negative way to develop! Of course this individual also advocates never practicing. Either way this is a great video and you can't overstate the importance of this subject. I would love to a video with either of you guys if we ever have the time when we see each other next time.

  • Man, I know you would. I was just talking trash to get your attention. The brighter your star gets, the more creative we have to be to reach you.

  • very cool video! You guys rock.

  • Thanks for explaining that lick at the end. I noticed that Ridgeway plays his harmonica upside down. If you really want to mess your mind up try playing upside down.

  • very cool lick dan!

    ro

  • This was excellent. You made me want to grab my harp and join right in. I'm working on that turn around riff right now. Thank you so much!

  • Me too. I was really learning it as the camera was rolling. Embarrassing as it was, you can really see the process of me picking up something new.

  • great videof from both of you. yes agree entirely about making friends with other harp players. Thank you for the riff and the end jam it was great got me going anyway heh..

  • Great video Dan, and of course you too, Dan.... Funky little rhythm going on at the end, hope you don't mind me pulling my C harp out and joining in.... Thanks!!!

    DutchBones

  • That's the point. Of course you should join in.

  • Yeahh !! the two Dan's !

    Thank you so much guys.

    Friendly :

    Steph.

  • Thanks, Dan.
