The whole town and all the people were the best that I've come across in all my 50 yrs living. I pray the best & that God bless the Town, the people of Jamestown and the family that took me- a little black kid from Chicago projects-in. There was plenty of fun, 12" softball tournaments (no 16"), it was a new sport for me--with gloves/mitts. Also, i recall going swimming everyday and the first time I ever had rhubarb pie, or fresh rhubarb, the biggest buffalo in the world. Wonderful, being there.
What a great town. In 1968, during the summer, I was part of a community program that sent inner city youth, for two weeks, to stay with families through out the rural country. Being a black kid, from the projects of chicago, I stayed with a beautiful family in Jamestown, N.D.. They owned a Photography Studio, can't remember their name and feel so bad about that. They showed me a great 2 weeks, as if I was kin. That summer sticks out in my mind as one of my best. One day I hope to re-visit all.
