THIS VIDEO JUDGING IS BIG SHITBALL. the judges clearly dont know rhythm. saying theres no rhythm in Ty's photo is so wrong.. all those bokeh lights actually created rhythm.

Oh well. I don't really care who wins. I guess I shouldn't be surprised by the lack of deeper thinking on the part of the judges, who for all their professional success, probably aren't all that well versed in art history or artistic critique. It's just sad to see excellent work being dismissed simply because the judges' analyses are too superficial and simplistic to appreciate it.

I'm sorry but the judges just completely failed to grasp the meaning of the quote. It's not about "rhythm" in the sense of repetition of shapes or motifs. They just latched onto that one word and took it out of its context. Cartier-Bresson is referring to the broader sense of rhythm, in that there is an interplay of compositional elements that integrate with the subject--this was explained by one of the contestants. One of the eliminated contestants actually did that with his rain photo.

Disagreeing with the judges. Natasha's was the strongest and the best because, like a few other commenters mentioned, it was far more interesting than Charlie's.

I liked Charlie's photo but my fav was Natatsha's for one simple reason, If they were hanging on a wall I would look at charlies shot and keep going. Natasha's photo would force me to stop and look deeper into it. THAT is what makes a successful foto. Artistically speaking anyway.

Forest: Lower angle, shallower DoF

Hessel: People walking (perhaps slow shutter with someone not moving)

Ty: Focus on the girl instead, use a real glass window

Harrison: Wider angle, maybe step to the right abit

Charlie: I actually think ovelapping images of the guy walking would be cool!

Natasha: Lower angle like the guy's level

TO ANYONE THAT CARES: I'm upgrading from the kit lens on my D3100. I'm looking for a good range (something between 16-200mm) and it cannot be a prime. I'm thinking either the Nikon 16-85mm or the Nikon 18-200mm. MUST BE UNDER $1000!!! What are your opinions?

1. one of the sharpest nikon lens

2. one of the nikon holy trinity lens nikonian must have (others are 14-24 and 70-200) all f2.8

3. I never heard anyone complaining about this lens, seems everybody loves it so much

4. Every nikon pro photographer has it

5. larger aperture (smaller f number) & can go f2.8 in 70mm zoom, 16-85mm can go only f5.6 on 85mm zoom

and many more....

if you compare how wide 16-85 to 24-70 there isn't any much difference
