@gua0004 That is a female. You can always tell adult mantis' sexes apart because the male is so much smaller than the female and has a smaller (skinnier/shorter) body. If you put an adult male mantis next to her he would only be half her size... and she would eat him. LOL
@gua0004 Yes, I've bred them before, but the eating the male afterwards part is their natural behavior in the wild (the male ejaculates when his head is ripped off by the female), so if you breed yours, don't expect to find the male afterwards. Gonna be in Momma's tummy! LOL Don't keep them in the same enclosure either. She'll eat him anyway even if she isn't ready to breed if he can't hide or escape.
@68taskmaster u can breen them and keep the male. All u have to do when the female attemps to grab the male's head, just put a mealworm between them and the female will grab the worm instead thinking it has grabed the male and start munching on it. I tried it with Hierodula majuscula (large australian species). and it works :)
