That '98 season to me is what seperates MJ from someone like Kobe. Despite the fact that MJ's physical skills had dimished, look how easily he's still able to score because of his proper fundamentals. Look at his footwork, his movement without the basket, it's amazing. Kobe stil tries to rely too much on athletic ability and the older he gets you see him struggling like he did this year. MJ was still at the top of his game at 35 years old.
And remember everybody. Isaiah hated MJ in the beginning. He hated MJ so much that he froze him out in the all star game. To see Isaiah now speak with so much respect for Michael is just so amazing because that respect came not from love or comraderie but from pure awe of him. It fear that made Isaiah a believer!
Thanks for including the beginning part of this game with the players talking about him. Listening to the players talk about him really shows how much respect they had for his game. Just amayzing. Just glad I got to see him play along with the other greats such as Bird, Magic, Zeke and so many others in the 80's and 90's.
If he's "better" than MJ in "all areas of the game" as U "claim", then WHERE are the consistently "better" results from his on-court productivity in these "areas" that PROVE it?
U should KNOW by now how incredibly DUMB U & other kobe homers sound with that bullshit, considering HOW MANY times y'all have been OWNED by the facts on these boards..
I was too young to record his games on VCR, I should of told my immigrant mother to record them. Man sometimes it sucks to be born in 1990 I'm glad i'm young but man i've missed some historic MJ Moments as well as as other great NBA Ballers that were there before my time (deep depressing sigh).
as i watch this i just heard this dumb bitch on espn say lebron may be the most popular player ever! haha even the other guests on the show had to disagree with her lebron and kobe are the most popular players now but the most popular and influential player ever is the original 23 MICHAEL JORDAN! why do u think athletes have endorsmnts and marketting like they do now ? how can u argue this mans greatness ppl really have short term memory stop bein fooled by this espn propaganda MJ=G.O.A.T
And yet you have to consider outside USA...I'm from Peru and few people know lebron, a few more people know kobe, but EVERYBODY knows MJ, i mean EVERYBODY...it doesn't matter if they dont know anything about basketball...they just think of him as the greatest...talk about popularity...sorry about my english...
all i gotta say is im so glad and proud to actually witness greatness while history was being made not old highlights like i seen of magic and bird cuz i was just a baby then but actually witnessing greatness i remember how every baber shop,resturant,w/e you name it had da bukks game on just too see for they own eyes not hear about it next day but to see what micheal was going too and did do!! there will never ever be another mike he made everybody want play ball now everybody wanna rap hmmmm...
Ahmad said it right their, you have to beat that man's will. To be honest thats what seperates himself from the pack is his will to win and to be the greatest of all time.
Magic said it right their also at the end, set your VCR's cause when he's gone he's gone and that god for Youtube, my VCR and DVD's cause we can never have those "now" moments and Michael Jordan was our "now" moment
Its amazing to see him dunk during the last few games of that season since he didn't dunk as much then (even laying up when he could have dunked it at times) and seeing the crowd reaction.
Indescribable as seeing the actual move and the expressions on even his teammates... like Michelangelo coming back to life and just creating another masterpiece.
I wonder how many titles they could have won had he not retired. The 1994 Bulls could have been one of the Best had MJ been there. That was the first year of Kokoc and the last for Grant. Then again they might never had traded for Rodman.

9 titles? You never know but I would have to think it would have been too exhausting. In 1998 they were all getting sick of each other.
You are kidding right, many of the players that came over to the bulls might not have come over if MJ had not left, like Rodman and others, consider it a blessing in disguise and by the way Hakeem was no Patrick Ewing.
1993-1994: Ron Harper, Kukoc, Longley, Kerr, and Wennington were added. That and Pippen taking it to another level, was the reason they did well without Mike. They still did not win.
1994-1995: the exact Bulls were a .500 team without Horace Grant.
1995-1996: Same exact team without Armstrong and Perdue. However, Rodman, Jordan, and Caffey were added resulting in 72-10.
You don't hear any other player in the NBA get talked about in the way in which the all time great players/coaches like Magic, Isaih, Walton etc talk about MJ. That truly shows how great MJ was.
man he had a great gm but i noticed ewing wasn't playing, at that time he was still pretty good. i don't know if ny was that good or chi took it easy, just wondering.
Michael Jordan is the greatest player to ever set foot on the basketball court. So do I think he is the most talented and gifted ever? not exactly. In fact, i feel that based solely on individual skills and abilities, Kobe is every bit as good as Michael. However, Jordan's ability to make the players around him playe better, his mental toughness, and his will to win is what places him cut above the rest.
Also, when Jordan played, refs didnt call foul everytime he was touched by defenders.
sorry, but kobe is not as good as MJ for the simple fact that he is copying jordan...MJ made everything up himself. copying is always easier. plus kobe never one a playoff series by himself...mj did. many times
who´s hating? I m just stating that making shit up is harder than copying. If ur too thick to understand that, get someone to xplain. (and the only hate was the last sentence, stfu)
he didnt make up everything lol. all you have to do is look at wat dr.j did, look at wat david thompson did. they were the ones who brought a lot of the things michael did to the game of basketball.
fuck that my boy kobe schooled him 3 rings, first team all nba, more times then fake d wade, he can't score at will no jumpshot like kobe, no defense because he doesn't make first team all defense like kobe, team player i agree, and no he ain't clutch look at his team now shit boy
"wade gets too many free throws to be a great player " That makes no sense. He's aggressive and attacking, he should get freethrows. Jordan got alot of freethrows, Kobe gets alot of them, Tim Duncan probably gets alot aswell. Are they not great players ?
Right. It's scary to think of the numbers Jordan would put up today when no one is allowed to put a hand on him or steer him around or give hard hits off the ball. Quicker than any wing player today, a better shot from 21 feet and in than any wing player today, a better post game than any wing, high level playmaker/passer, would be the best defender at the wing today, sick hops, incredible mind and will.
But yeah, he couldn't do what he did despite players who are clearly his inferior putting up sick numbers (Lebron/Kobe etc.). Please...Jordan would shit on today's league and would basically average the same numbers he did save for a slight drop in FG% (which would be countered by an increase in FTA). Think 32.5-35 pts/6.5 reb/5.5-6.5 ast/2.5+ stl/1+ blk/51% FG.
I feel bad for all basketball fans that were not around for the jordan era.... you miss a one in a life time experience... the greatest of all time the most illustrious player in history and there will never be another.
U realise youngest doesnt mean fastest right? I dont think u do. Ur not alone though, a lot of ppl are being consistently brainwashed by the media with those kind of approaches. KB isnt even in the top ten fastest to get 20000pts. Kinda takes away some of it doesnt it?
Fastest to 20,000 was Wilt with 499 games. MJ is #2 at 620 games. KB is 15th fastest at 811 games.
Youth records are different from fastest records obviously. Lebron has taken every youth scoring record and he probably will hold them all since they've stopped 18 year olds from getting in.
kobe copy every move from jordan, thats why people keep talking that he is better than jordan.for me jordan stiil the best cause he created the moves to be the best player ever played in the NBA.
KB has done a nice job of copying MJ's finesse game on the perimeter due to decades of study. However, it's not a true success due to his inability to hit the 50% mark.
The inside game is where the gap really gets enormous since without MJ's hands and legs, it simply is not even possible to attempt most of MJ's drives. Lebron and Wade are closer here but they lack the finesse and body control to finish ala MJ.
No one has the whole package and no one probably ever will.
Kobe is a great player but Jordans competitivenes is, in my mind, what makes him great. Imagine all of Jordans talen without all the desire ? Wouldn't be the same thing.
And the fact that he was athletically gifted and fundamentally sound put him over the top
Boy do i miss that song lol..but magic is def right at 2:00..also Nelly used that beat in a osng called Heart of a Champion..wheres Ewing i didnt see him
Kobe is good, but to compare him to Mike is ridiculous. He doesnt win that arguments by the numbers or by the competition he has played against. Look who is talking about MJ. Magic,Barkley, Zeek, Doug Collins, Bird, all hall of famers. Not Andrew Bynum
Yeah but everyone on that list except for Barkley won a ring, and Barkley would have won if he didnt run into Mike. Just like Stockton and Malone. And I doubt they talk that crazy about him except that he did score 81
I'm not the biggest Kobe fan, but he is definitely a winner. The past three years he hasn't had anything around him and his teams didn't win. No player has ever won solely by himself.
Hey, I taped this game before. I remember that Jordan was close to Shaq that year in leading the league in scoring. After having 44 points, Shaq had to score like 67 points in a game that same day to overtake Mike. Obviously, it didnt happen. Thats how mike lead the league in scoring that season. Shaq was a close 2nd place.
He really torched NY during his last regular season with the Bulls. 44 here, 44 at MSG in Jan, 42 at MSG in March (I believe). Hoops, do you have the game from Jan? He was on that night with some sick fadeaways and an assortment of smooth jumpers. He barely broke a sweat in that one if I recall. I'd love to see an edit of that sometime soon. Oh yeah, and this vid is good too! Keep up the great work.
I think the 42 points @ MSG on March 8th was the famous "big brother, little brother" game, where Larry Johnson had talked some trash about Pippen in the papers in the days leading up to the game, and the team made an effort to get Pippen off early against LJ (which he did), and thn the Knicks made a late push, and Jordan came on late, scoring 20 points in the final 7:00 or so to secure the win.
its so bullshit because kobe didnt do this shit until he was criticized of being a ballhog
since he didnt have a first instinct to pass first i dont like him, people like Jordan and LeBron didnt HAVE to be yelled at to pass the ball and if kobe was yelled at for being a ballhog he would still be shotjacking
what the fuck are you talking about... and Wilt played in an era that was weak by comparison to Jordan's. Completely different way you have to look at stats from that era. Wilt tried to set records, Jordan never did.
Actually, that's not true. In the spring of 1989, when Jordan had that string of triple doubles, during games he would check how many rebounds and assists he needed to get another triple double.
When you are that good and your team is winning, there's nothing wrong with that. But with the players today (Kobe, Marbury), they are more interested in the STATS FIRST, before WINNING.
I would consider checking stats to be different than trying to set a record which would be contrived. Coaches check the PER of their players after the game which is similar to checking the stat sheet.
"But with the players today (Kobe, Marbury), they are more interested in the STATS FIRST, before WINNING."
Marbury yes, Kobe no. Kobe could easily be leading the league in scoring, but instead he is breaking his back to get guys like Bynum and Odom easy looks in the game. Kobe is a born winner.
I meant to type "isaiah thomas is a full blown phony. One way in front of the cameras, another when they are off. I know that's most players, but guys like Kobe and Isaiah are so fake. magic Johnson has a true sense of speaking, he is speaking from the heart. Isaiah trys to say the right thing.
I would love to know who rates these videos not a 5, whoever is doing it, you are a damn fool. I never rate videos anything other than 5's... this is clearly a 5. Great upload hoops! Great quotes. isaiah is full a phony IMO. I just never liked the guy.
STFU Isaiah. So fucking fake. charles, ahmad, larry, and magic were close to MJ. Zeke didn't belong in that circle. they shouldn't have added his fake ass on the interviews.
He played against MJ more than any of these others, that's how Isiah knows about Jordan. He was there going toe to toe with Jordan and the Bulls and early on it was the Pistons who were dominant. Without the Bad Boys Jordan would've had it easier in the East. Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Could iot be that Jordan would not have been as good had it not been for the lessons he learnt from the Pistons.
Tex Winter points this out exactly. He believes that the murderous defense the Pistons played against MJ made MJ what he was. MJ getting through that team meant everything was 'easy'.
yeah, i'm fully aware of the trials the bulls had to go through against zeke and the Pistons. i'm a child of 80s NBA. I just don't buy anything that comes from the mouth of Isaiah. he can complement MJ all he wants, it still looks fake to me.
What you said was "Zeke didn't belong in that circle". And what I'm saying is Zeke belongs there more than anyone. He played against and beat the best whether you like him or not he knows what he is talking about. BB4L, Bad Boy for Life.
ok. i understand what you're saying. i still believe his sentiments towards MJ aren't genuine. yes he didn't belong in that circle bcoz those other peeps were close to MJ. Zeke wasn't. ever since he worked for NBC, Zeke has been kissing MJ's but. before that he could care less. believe me, i could go on about the history bout the bulls/pistons rivals since 88. i just don't buy Zeke's credibility on praising MJ. It's like he was paid to do it.
I could care less if he is legit or not. The fact remains that Isiah knows more about him then you'd care to know. After 20 years you tend to look at things a different way and I guess that's what Isiah is doing now. If anyone has any thoughts that MJ is not the best ever then they only need to listen to his sworn enemies ie; Isiah praising him to know how good he really was.
Sorry Wilt averaged 50'4 in 1962. and 44'8 in 1963, but also grabbed 24 rebounds. But anyway, he made 73% field goald percentage in 1972. The NBA changed the rules to make more difficult the play to Wilt and the NBA changed the rules to make the play easier to Jordan, this was sayed by Wilt in 1996, and it's a fact.
The NBA made new rules to stop MJ in 1988 and joined Mikan and Wilt as players who had rules changed due to them. They changed rules for Mikan and Wilt due to their size, MJ for skill. Shaq had some tweaks as well.
and let me tell you one more fact son, wilt is boring to watch and he didnt have to skill and athletic ability that jordan has, nor his will to win is as strong. so please, if you think wilt is better and need to say it to everyone else, go to a wilt fan's channel and do it all. and judging by the way you talk, it is all based on stats.
i mean the superfical stats that doesnt really tell us the real situation. i mean, wilt played in a time when most of the players were small.
i just think that you should not come here trying to preach to us who know what we are talking about, that wilt is greater than jordan. that's just childish and no one who has a bit of knowledge would take what you said.
dont forget wilt played the entire game early on...PER 48 MINUTES, wilt's average that year was 49.8ppg Jordan's best season was 44.5 ppg. Not exactly killing MJ. MJ has 4 of the top 11 ppg per 48 minute seasons of all time...wilt has 2. go figure
Wilt Chamberlain took almost 40 shots per game to get his average of 50ppg in '62.
If MJ attempted as many shots as Chamberlain did he would have topped 50ppg easily. But he didnt shoot the ball that much then and i think he wouldnt do it today either. MJ shot the ball a lot thats true but when u put it into perspective (Baylor, Chamberlain) he actually didnt shoot enough
Wilt's biggest knock is that he dropped several notches in his play in the playoffs. People used to say he "Wilted" under pressure. Wilt has several huge holes in his resume and that hurts his rankings. Ted Winter was coaching when Wilt was in HS so one might want to read his book where he talks about Wilt.
It's funny to me how Isiah Thomas sucks up to Jordan just a few years after he and his Pistons walked of the court before the game was over, in a sign of disrespect to the Bulls. I guess if you can't beat him, join him.
lol i agree with you competely. i was just wondering the whole time how much isiah been acting like a cock sucker when the bulls and the pistons were in such a intense relationship. ever since he became a commentator he has been so nice and say thing like,' jordan is so smart that... or look how strong jordan is...blah blah..
MJ became a master of the game of basketball. Phil Jackson really helped MJ in this process with his Zen philosophy. MJ embrassed phil jackson and his coaching. Kobe on the other hand is so behind because he doesn't listen to his coaches. He gets butt hurt when his game is critisized and he think he knows what he is doing. MJ was a beautiful baller and very entertaining to watch.
its funny cause i cant imagine what a young michael would do in the league nowadays with all the changes with the zones and stuff, i think pippen said one time that he would average 50 a game with today's rules
uh what was that isiah? from 5:22-5:32. say that again for all these losers who deny it. these ppl dont know. they just think mj had it easy.

Also, when Jordan played, refs didnt call foul everytime he was touched by defenders.
kaash83 4 years ago 3
sorry, but kobe is not as good as MJ for the simple fact that he is copying jordan...MJ made everything up himself. copying is always easier. plus kobe never one a playoff series by himself...mj did. many times
shaftlamer 3 years ago
who isn't trying to "copy" mj these days? he's the best player ever. of course player are trying to be like him! stop hating.

who´s hating? I m just stating that making shit up is harder than copying. If ur too thick to understand that, get someone to xplain. (and the only hate was the last sentence, stfu)
shaftlamer 3 years ago
he didnt make up everything lol. all you have to do is look at wat dr.j did, look at wat david thompson did. they were the ones who brought a lot of the things michael did to the game of basketball.

fuck that my boy kobe schooled him 3 rings, first team all nba, more times then fake d wade, he can't score at will no jumpshot like kobe, no defense because he doesn't make first team all defense like kobe, team player i agree, and no he ain't clutch look at his team now shit boy
HYNBOY25 4 years ago
"wade gets too many free throws to be a great player " That makes no sense. He's aggressive and attacking, he should get freethrows. Jordan got alot of freethrows, Kobe gets alot of them, Tim Duncan probably gets alot aswell. Are they not great players ?

Right. It's scary to think of the numbers Jordan would put up today when no one is allowed to put a hand on him or steer him around or give hard hits off the ball. Quicker than any wing player today, a better shot from 21 feet and in than any wing player today, a better post game than any wing, high level playmaker/passer, would be the best defender at the wing today, sick hops, incredible mind and will.
jordanlover23 4 years ago 3

Yet Kobe is in about 11-12th place in the "fewest games to 20,000 points" mark. Go figure.
jordanlover23 4 years ago 4
for me its not even about points, its like jordan had a thing about him that made him an icon and made his respectable to everyone.
Jordan was the best and always will be the best, basketball has changed since jordan left.

i didnt say that he was better im just sayin that kobe is about to be close to his lvl.. look at all the things he has done
HomerSimpsonIsTheMa 4 years ago
If u think is close of achieving what MJ did its time for u to go back and re-check all the things MJ did and u'll se its not even close.
rrTale 4 years ago 2
U realise youngest doesnt mean fastest right? I dont think u do. Ur not alone though, a lot of ppl are being consistently brainwashed by the media with those kind of approaches. KB isnt even in the top ten fastest to get 20000pts. Kinda takes away some of it doesnt it?
rrTale 4 years ago
Fastest to 20,000 was Wilt with 499 games. MJ is #2 at 620 games. KB is 15th fastest at 811 games.
Youth records are different from fastest records obviously. Lebron has taken every youth scoring record and he probably will hold them all since they've stopped 18 year olds from getting in.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago
@hoopsencyclopedia KD will pass Lebron in every youth scoring record.

kobe copy every move from jordan, thats why people keep talking that he is better than jordan.for me jordan stiil the best cause he created the moves to be the best player ever played in the NBA.
hbk185 4 years ago 9
that's cause jordan was his favorite player.and when kobe was young he used to imitate jordan's every move.
ChrisVarick 4 years ago
KB has done a nice job of copying MJ's finesse game on the perimeter due to decades of study. However, it's not a true success due to his inability to hit the 50% mark.
The inside game is where the gap really gets enormous since without MJ's hands and legs, it simply is not even possible to attempt most of MJ's drives. Lebron and Wade are closer here but they lack the finesse and body control to finish ala MJ.
No one has the whole package and no one probably ever will.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago 6
Kobe is a great player but Jordans competitivenes is, in my mind, what makes him great. Imagine all of Jordans talen without all the desire ? Wouldn't be the same thing.
And the fact that he was athletically gifted and fundamentally sound put him over the top
stefanswe 4 years ago

Kobe is good, but to compare him to Mike is ridiculous. He doesnt win that arguments by the numbers or by the competition he has played against. Look who is talking about MJ. Magic,Barkley, Zeek, Doug Collins, Bird, all hall of famers. Not Andrew Bynum
149sown 4 years ago 8
wait until garnett, duncan, nash and them get in the hall of fame and they'll talk about kobe.
reefturkey 4 years ago
Yeah but everyone on that list except for Barkley won a ring, and Barkley would have won if he didnt run into Mike. Just like Stockton and Malone. And I doubt they talk that crazy about him except that he did score 81
149sown 4 years ago
I'm not the biggest Kobe fan, but he is definitely a winner. The past three years he hasn't had anything around him and his teams didn't win. No player has ever won solely by himself.
Force283 4 years ago
Of course, Kobe needs someone like Shaq to lead his team. Just like Scottie needed MJ.
jp3813 4 years ago 4
Hey, I taped this game before. I remember that Jordan was close to Shaq that year in leading the league in scoring. After having 44 points, Shaq had to score like 67 points in a game that same day to overtake Mike. Obviously, it didnt happen. Thats how mike lead the league in scoring that season. Shaq was a close 2nd place.
Adomini24 4 years ago
He really torched NY during his last regular season with the Bulls. 44 here, 44 at MSG in Jan, 42 at MSG in March (I believe). Hoops, do you have the game from Jan? He was on that night with some sick fadeaways and an assortment of smooth jumpers. He barely broke a sweat in that one if I recall. I'd love to see an edit of that sometime soon. Oh yeah, and this vid is good too! Keep up the great work.
BKirby23 4 years ago
I think the 42 points @ MSG on March 8th was the famous "big brother, little brother" game, where Larry Johnson had talked some trash about Pippen in the papers in the days leading up to the game, and the team made an effort to get Pippen off early against LJ (which he did), and thn the Knicks made a late push, and Jordan came on late, scoring 20 points in the final 7:00 or so to secure the win.

your bench gives you a crapload of points
its so bullshit because kobe didnt do this shit until he was criticized of being a ballhog
since he didnt have a first instinct to pass first i dont like him, people like Jordan and LeBron didnt HAVE to be yelled at to pass the ball and if kobe was yelled at for being a ballhog he would still be shotjacking
he still is shooting under 47% FG% as always

what the fuck are you talking about... and Wilt played in an era that was weak by comparison to Jordan's. Completely different way you have to look at stats from that era. Wilt tried to set records, Jordan never did.
Hypebusta 4 years ago
"Wilt tried to set records, Jordan never did."
Actually, that's not true. In the spring of 1989, when Jordan had that string of triple doubles, during games he would check how many rebounds and assists he needed to get another triple double.
When you are that good and your team is winning, there's nothing wrong with that. But with the players today (Kobe, Marbury), they are more interested in the STATS FIRST, before WINNING.
viktitious 4 years ago 2
I would consider checking stats to be different than trying to set a record which would be contrived. Coaches check the PER of their players after the game which is similar to checking the stat sheet.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago

I just never liked the guy.
therealbruceblitz 4 years ago 2
STFU Isaiah. So fucking fake. charles, ahmad, larry, and magic were close to MJ. Zeke didn't belong in that circle. they shouldn't have added his fake ass on the interviews.
rsx2 4 years ago
He played against MJ more than any of these others, that's how Isiah knows about Jordan. He was there going toe to toe with Jordan and the Bulls and early on it was the Pistons who were dominant. Without the Bad Boys Jordan would've had it easier in the East. Whatever doesn't kill you only makes you stronger. Could iot be that Jordan would not have been as good had it not been for the lessons he learnt from the Pistons.
mcmaclean 4 years ago
Tex Winter points this out exactly. He believes that the murderous defense the Pistons played against MJ made MJ what he was. MJ getting through that team meant everything was 'easy'.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago
yeah, i'm fully aware of the trials the bulls had to go through against zeke and the Pistons. i'm a child of 80s NBA. I just don't buy anything that comes from the mouth of Isaiah. he can complement MJ all he wants, it still looks fake to me.
rsx2 4 years ago
What you said was "Zeke didn't belong in that circle". And what I'm saying is Zeke belongs there more than anyone. He played against and beat the best whether you like him or not he knows what he is talking about. BB4L, Bad Boy for Life.
mcmaclean 4 years ago
ok. i understand what you're saying. i still believe his sentiments towards MJ aren't genuine. yes he didn't belong in that circle bcoz those other peeps were close to MJ. Zeke wasn't. ever since he worked for NBC, Zeke has been kissing MJ's but. before that he could care less. believe me, i could go on about the history bout the bulls/pistons rivals since 88. i just don't buy Zeke's credibility on praising MJ. It's like he was paid to do it.
rsx2 4 years ago
i would've believed it more if it came from the mouth of Joe Dumars, but just not Zeke. sorry to burst your bubble dude. just my opinion.
rsx2 4 years ago
I could care less if he is legit or not. The fact remains that Isiah knows more about him then you'd care to know. After 20 years you tend to look at things a different way and I guess that's what Isiah is doing now. If anyone has any thoughts that MJ is not the best ever then they only need to listen to his sworn enemies ie; Isiah praising him to know how good he really was.
mcmaclean 4 years ago
Sorry Wilt averaged 50'4 in 1962. and 44'8 in 1963, but also grabbed 24 rebounds. But anyway, he made 73% field goald percentage in 1972. The NBA changed the rules to make more difficult the play to Wilt and the NBA changed the rules to make the play easier to Jordan, this was sayed by Wilt in 1996, and it's a fact.
WiltatKansas 4 years ago
The NBA made new rules to stop MJ in 1988 and joined Mikan and Wilt as players who had rules changed due to them. They changed rules for Mikan and Wilt due to their size, MJ for skill. Shaq had some tweaks as well.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago
oh come on this a fact.
and let me tell you one more fact son, wilt is boring to watch and he didnt have to skill and athletic ability that jordan has, nor his will to win is as strong. so please, if you think wilt is better and need to say it to everyone else, go to a wilt fan's channel and do it all. and judging by the way you talk, it is all based on stats.
popeyeisgood 4 years ago
i mean the superfical stats that doesnt really tell us the real situation. i mean, wilt played in a time when most of the players were small.
i just think that you should not come here trying to preach to us who know what we are talking about, that wilt is greater than jordan. that's just childish and no one who has a bit of knowledge would take what you said.
popeyeisgood 4 years ago
dont forget wilt played the entire game early on...PER 48 MINUTES, wilt's average that year was 49.8ppg Jordan's best season was 44.5 ppg. Not exactly killing MJ. MJ has 4 of the top 11 ppg per 48 minute seasons of all time...wilt has 2. go figure

Well, but i think Wilt was the best. And he won championships too & two.
WiltatKansas 4 years ago
Wilt Chamberlain took almost 40 shots per game to get his average of 50ppg in '62.
If MJ attempted as many shots as Chamberlain did he would have topped 50ppg easily. But he didnt shoot the ball that much then and i think he wouldnt do it today either. MJ shot the ball a lot thats true but when u put it into perspective (Baylor, Chamberlain) he actually didnt shoot enough

nparga23 4 years ago
well, wilt is just too damn boring to watch as a player, i dont care if he scored more point in a game.
popeyeisgood 4 years ago
Wilt's biggest knock is that he dropped several notches in his play in the playoffs. People used to say he "Wilted" under pressure. Wilt has several huge holes in his resume and that hurts his rankings. Ted Winter was coaching when Wilt was in HS so one might want to read his book where he talks about Wilt.
hoopsencyclopedia 4 years ago
It's funny to me how Isiah Thomas sucks up to Jordan just a few years after he and his Pistons walked of the court before the game was over, in a sign of disrespect to the Bulls. I guess if you can't beat him, join him.
therealmoseph 4 years ago 2
lol i agree with you competely. i was just wondering the whole time how much isiah been acting like a cock sucker when the bulls and the pistons were in such a intense relationship. ever since he became a commentator he has been so nice and say thing like,' jordan is so smart that... or look how strong jordan is...blah blah..
popeyeisgood 4 years ago
not that what he said is not real, but from his foul mouth i just cant believe that is genunine.
popeyeisgood 4 years ago
MJ became a master of the game of basketball. Phil Jackson really helped MJ in this process with his Zen philosophy. MJ embrassed phil jackson and his coaching. Kobe on the other hand is so behind because he doesn't listen to his coaches. He gets butt hurt when his game is critisized and he think he knows what he is doing. MJ was a beautiful baller and very entertaining to watch.
