You never should trust these researches about what music is the most positively stimulating on the brain without doing alot of research on it before and reading about the subject. You only need many, many and even more conclusions from different origins to make your own diagnosis on which seems to have the best effect in all cases. And you should also keep opinions in mind, the brains reaction to music differs surprisingly alot between different people who are tested on the matter. Peace.
One thing , STOP WITH THE MULTIPLE VIDEO CUTS!!!! i am sure you can form a sentence that last s for more then 1 second, if you cant ... sorry brother.
To be honest you can say talent is the reason people are successful but the person in my class, was talented at maths, and not great at anything else, he was told by a teacher youll do good at maths and physics and probably nothing else, in his final exams after countless hours of study he got a A1 in histroy, bussiness bioligy , and ofc maths and physics and a A2 in english(irish marking system) , ya talent makes a difference, the hours of work he put in made a hell of alot more
I find really funny the fact that a good percentage of my dreams are lucid (even though I don't have many), and then see people try extremely hard to have them.
Listening to jazz is counterproductive for brain activity? Jazz is probably the most stimulating type of music of them all, atleast when it comes to things like thought activity and creativity and so forth.Perhaps there are different areas which different types of music are good at in that sense, i.e. classical is very precisely arranged and radiates 'order' while jazz is often wild and big on improvisations and channeling...different music stimulates different parts of the brain i dare assume
I used to unintentionally lucid dream pretty much every night, or at least i was almost entirely conscious in my dreams and i was aware that i was dreaming.
I could influence my dreams as well, i was walking in a corridor once and i basically asked myself "What's at the end? A hydra?" jokingly, and then there was a hydra :(
I'm surprised that you don't know much about lucid dreaming, most people who have a strong introvert side are usually very interrested in the idea of having complete and total control over every aspect of reality during times where you are normally lying in bed for X # hours every single day.
There are tons of very powerful aspects of lucid dreaming, like applying real memories to help you remember things more clearly, talking to your subconscious (this is huge), free-flying, sex, drugs food...
Serious question: What books have you read that have been the most influential on your life. And what books would you suggest to others to read as food for thought?
@DeanLeysen Nice video editing, which uses, what I call ADD/ADHD reinforcement propaganda,
To keep the viewers attention by removing awkward or silent moments, which creates a sustained duration of high speech. This same effect can be observed in speed readers, fast speakers and the texting system. That's what critical thinking can do for you. Yes! I understand, the youtube viewing audience is hopelessly "ADD/ADHD". There's more! but I'll save you, the headache \\$–*//
@Thomhanb oh I agree. But so are you. You wouldn't even have been able to type that if it wasn't for the language and concepts you learned from other people. :)
As for medicine and neurology, I don't think you or I are capable of figuring out things we need laboratories and equipment for, with just our minds. I take no credit for the knowledge I have, but there is also no other way to acquire it effectively.
@DeanLeysen He makes a valid point, in that, you answered nearly every question here by saying, "I really don't know about this, BUT..." which is a bad way to present yourself.
You can be just as honest but structure your words well enough to ensure people don't assume you're completely clueless.
Dean, just a quick question, I have unexplainable depression (maybe about my ex girlfriend?) anway, it gets rough, and I don't necessarily want to tell many people. Any reccomendations?
Heya! Very rarely, when I am in stage of being awaken and falling in sleep I hear deep voice either saying one word or mumbling something unclear, which after I turn around in fast manner{quess due of reflex} and became freaked out...I dont take any drugs, dont smoke and drink socially meanwhile..There is nothing about this phenomena in internet, even through there is some stuff of other phenomena. Any ideas about treasons of that?
here is my theory about lucid dreaming: if a guy..is watching TV, and is sapping moment, at one moment, we stop at our point of instrest, but we actually, can do that really fast. a small image can stop us from sapping. And observe. Now if we dream, those so called 'images, memories, happenings'flash by, and maybe, triggers the'ok lets follow this' in the brian. Why are dreams weird, cause these images, flashes, maybe, stack up. maybe get mixed up somehow.
Holy shit man. I've always had concentration issues when it comes to school work (getting side-tracked/distraced). I actually tried playing some classical music and it fucking works! It may just work because I thought it would work, and now I have that mentality implanted. Either way, this is awesome!
as a person about to enroll in a public health course of study , you really need to consider being in public health or at least being a real doctor! brilliant!

Music with a fast tempo actually speeds up the heart rate, metabolism, and causes you to feel less fatigue during activity. If you set your music player to play a list of high temp music you can work out or do physical activity longer and better.
Cool i was one of the people asking where he got all his knowledge from :P
But dean you should go out to some parties and meet new people and theory craft with them, i'm sure you'll be surprised at how many smart people are at these kind of events. Dunno if it would work in belgium but sure does where i live
I'd like to know if I'm the only person with that kind of theory : do you guys think that Smart people (starting engineering from 400 haha) are more suceptible to go apeshit if they are not well-trained and followed by family, teachers and stuff in their childhood.
I'm asking because that's kind of the way I feel about my childhood and teenage : no one ever teached me how to "channel" my toughts and that was disturbing for my self-construction.
Why sometimes do the bigger and stronger people get constant shit from the smaller and weaker? (lack of better wording)
I ask bacause i could literally knock the lights out of the people who give me the most verbal abuse but yet it keeps happening and i keep taking it (laughing it off) why is this happening?!
Oh and even when i threaten them with a certain punch, it makes little difference.
I would like to understand now rather than clubbing a colleage to death and losing my job.
@CARN1V0R it's just an ego thing...because they see that their size cannot match yours and so try to bring you down to their level with what they perceive as their advantage over you.
Make one on Sleep paralysis. I myself, know very little about this but I know it's scary shit to experience since I've been a victim to this horrible thing! :'(
Even though i was thinking more of how music helps the brain relax (if it does) and how not depending on what type of music you listen to but on how much you enjoy the music, it helps stimulate brain cells.
But then again i dont think there is an actual science thats does research in this domain.
Lucid dreams are easiest achieved when your mind is somewhere between concisousness and REM sleep. (If you wake up in the middle of the night, go to the restroom and then lay back down, from 1-15 mnutes after laying back down)
Have you ever watched the Documentary on DMT called the spirit molecule, if not you should think about watching it sometime i would love to hear what you think about it. Or...have you ever taken DMT O_o? i know we all produce it naturally but i mean have you like taken it orally or something lol?
Why do you feel the need to cut frames mid sentence? It's completely jarring and just removes any sense of intelligence you may have had to begin with.
i suffer from it myself without taking any form of medication, and its really hard and takes a lot of work so i would be greatful to get some more information on that matter since you seem to expain everything down to the basics so well that anyone can understand it.
sorry for poor use of , and . and any misspells you might find.
What if we put it in another way... 'Being talented' means it is easier/faster to learn. With your WoW example that would work as every created item would generate more profession points for the 'talented' person. Thus he would progress faster and perhaps reach further.
It's likely that your brothers and sisters think of the same color when they hear a certen note, I don't know why but I think it depends on the 'same' genetic base they have and the 'same' education at home
We finished our research (school task). Taking the results averagely, you could conclude that people remember words 50% better, make 50% less mistakes at nerve spiral, and react 75% faster on a reactiontest while listening to Mozart than blanco, and nearly the same percentages named above for coffee and dextro tests. We nearly had 220 test results (Yes I have all tested and processed them) so you could conclude (at least) Mozart music is significantly improving your concentration.
and dude im doing a report on how music affects the bran (the bucketly report related) and maybe sometime in the future you can help me post that video up lol.
@TDLakaDavidLover I actually found that running while listening to music increased my stamina and speed. I never did any research but I hope that helps your report.
Dean, what's your MBTI personality type? Seeing how you're interested in psychology and science i'm sure you'll be very interested in personality type theories
man no matter where u go in life there are ALWAYS haters.i don't see how anyone can hate on Dean. his vids are insightful and damn informative.actually alot of the discussions he posts i later discuss with my friends and we have deep meaningful talks about this shit.but yeah like i say... haters are always gonna be there.bunch of KNOBS!
I am also very interested with these kind of subjects but sadly I've wasted several years of my life in school that gives me loads of studies that are not in my interest. But my question was, could you perhaps make a list of several good books you would recommend? Just the names would be ok. Thanks
Hey Dean, the 450 vs 50 comment you made is somewhat untrue. It is considered that it takes 10,000 hours of practice for someone to become an expert in that field. So if Kobe Bryant trains for 10,000 vs another fit guy with no disabilities for even more like 15,000 hours. Even though both are considered experts, Kobe will still be better because he had better genes to make him go further. Of course nurture is a way big part, but in the big picture at the end its all about genetics to be at top
Daan, do you believe that "binural waves" can affect our brain and give us a mood, energy or anything like. I've heard about it and it sounds logical but i've tried it and haven't yet experienced any difference.
Boxer briefs all the way! The perfect combination of comfort and suport.

could you make a video about ADHD?
i suffer from it myself without taking any form of medication, and its really hard and takes a lot of work so i would be greatful to get some more information on that matter since you seem to expain everything down to the basics so well that anyone can understand it.
sorry for poor use of , and . and any misspells you might find.

TDLakaDavidLover 1 year ago 2
@TDLakaDavidLover I actually found that running while listening to music increased my stamina and speed. I never did any research but I hope that helps your report.

you are comparing having a talent in real life with fucking world of warcraft professions?
Why don't we just state the fact that simply there are people who are intelligent and people who are dumb.
TheXV22 1 year ago
@TheXV22 If you think there's only one dimension: smart or stupid... then I guess you don't know how complex our minds are :)
eggroll9000 1 year ago
@eggroll9000 what I meant is that intelligence and talent are not developed, you can't get better at understanding the meanings in math by practicing.
You are born with it.
of course practice makes you better at something, but it doesn't make you like talented people or highly intelligent people.
