that's hilarious because michael was the reason for the jackson 5's success. they saw his performance genius in the audition for motown and immediately signed them. when michael did solo songs like "ben" & "gotta be there" they went #1. it would've been difficult not to take him seriously with or without his brothers.

Michael was a perfectionist. you can see it in all the dance movies. Joe was too, but he didn't need to beat the shit out his kids to get them to do things right. sure. to be the best, you had to be hard, but extreme enough that your kids would get sick cuz they were scared of you? shit like that don't go away. you can forgive, but not forget. they acknowledged (them, the j5) that it was abuse but always seemed to say otherwise at other times. i dunno how they let him be around their kids.
