No, it's retarded. It's just like Pokemon with Excel Saga. It just wouldn't work. I didn't like it. Harvest Moon works better as the original series. It's magical enough for me with their extraordinary colored hair and pixies. We don't need demons and sheep bootlegs on a ranch.

I don't think Rune Factory is appealing. I can't say it's AWFUL, but it's just that Harvest Moon just can't work as a fantasy game. I had Rune Factory 2, but I didn't get past the tutorial because it's just not that exciting.

@OKittilotO bull fuckin shit, Rune Factory easily gives harvest moon a run for its money. Right now most harvest moon fans have switched over to rune factory because harvest moon games have been crappy for awhile now. Rune Factory is a breath of fresh air, the formula works well. if you want exciting then you should not even be playing Harvest Moon at all. If anything Rune Factory has more exciting things to do than a Harvest Moon game.

@OKittilotO Farming fits in quite well in a medieval fantasy style setting like Rune Factory, the era that this is made to feel like farming was a very common practice. Also the relation system is more fine tuned, now you have not only a simple heart meter but also a friendship meter. This allows you to keep tabs on your relationship with everyone and have more events that aren't eligible marriage candidates.

@OKittilotO Not only does this flesh the story out it also allows you to feel more connected to the characters. Typically you only remember the marriage candidates in a harvest moon game, but in rune factory the supporting characters feel more memorable. If it is the RPG fighting element that you think ruins it as a harvest moon spin-off then that is simply your dislike for hack and slash type RPGs. Albeit the fighting system is simple it does not feel out of place.

Yea, Rune Factory's a branch out of Harvest Moon...all you can do in HM...plus level up like any action RPGs, forge your own weapons, craft your own accessories, fight monsters and kill dungeon Bosses

Well, the animals in RF aren't bought. They're "monsters" you need to capture and put into barns.

Animals (captured monsters) can work on the farm for you (some can harvest or water crops) and you can bring them around town (not sure if you can ride on them)..oh and they can fight with you in caves as well

hmm, not sure about ds =) i still prefer HM:ToT

i was only able to play as a boy (there was no option for girl haha)...as for dressing up, i think you can't change his clothes but if theres head accessories and weapons you can see them (hat, mask, sword, magic rod, etc)

lol I can't take them into town X3 when I try it say "I should take it back" and gives me the choice to return it to it's hut or go back :P lol and you can ride the monsters if you have the right ones! ^^ I'm sure you can ride the wolf-like monsters but I'm not so sure about the rest P: oh and some can even heal you in battle and use other magic! ^^

mm... well only friends can post but rune factory is a DS game it a harvast moon. but u can battle animals and the story line is around caves where these animals are, u can train animales u capture and they will work on your farm. u can still farm and stuff but i like to fight, so get it!
