  • Anybody remember Phila's Dr. Shock from the early 70's? He was an exact copy of Zacherle's Roland, but just as good & funny.

  • Brilliant! What a treat to hear this! Thanks so much!!

  • Are those pictures from the Philadelphia studio...??? I wish I could see more of that...!

  • John Zacherle began his career as "Roland", the "Cool Ghoul" on WCAU Ch. 10 in Philadelphia. He was initially on Mon. & Tues. nights, 11:30P -1AM. He became so popular in the first few weeks that the station decided to put him on Friday & Saturday night, same time slot, to get him away from school nights.

    (Spider hoagies anyone???)

  • This sounded like it was recorded after he moved to WABC-TV Ch. 7 in New York in 1958, given his reference to 'Isobel' on this clip.

  • great clip

  • What a gem!

  • THANKS! This episode is NOT in John Zacherle's 1998 video THE ZACHERLEY ARCHIVES. I understand you just recorded the audio from your TV speaker, but it is better than nothing.
