  • I retract my previous BS call, IT worked!!! I just didn't leave it unplugged long enough

  • I call BS, the PW is stored in an EPROM not in bios

  • Nice one mate, I didnt need to reset the bios, but set both passwords and this worked on my HP G70, I have a Dell Studio 1557 with bios password, different layout completely, but nice to know this, cheers dude.

Just in case, does anyone know how to reset a 1557 without taking it to bits and soldering the 24 chip???

  • Thanks, where can I get a Bios update for the DV6000?

it's not on the HP product page for it?

  • @unclepoo you will have to source a local outlet for it, or look for an online store that sells spares for laptops. As laptop bios chips are usually soldered on to the board and unless you are confident of doing this repair then i suggest you take it/send it to a local repair shop to be replaced. Remember google is your friend ;)

  • Hey, so we need to disconnect the red cable?, I did a bad update and now it dosent start, is possible to re-format the bios or need to change the chip?. Thanks

  • @djjor3l the bios chip cannot be formatted, when a bios update is done you should keep a backup on a disk or usb drive just in case of this. however if you havn't done this then i'm afraid you will need a new bios chip. There not very expensive but use the correct tool and be careful.

  • Hay

I have a dv6000 and recently it wasnt charging so i updated the bios then restarted it and after it shut down it never turned on, the light come on and everything no sound of it turning on. If i do this will it reset the bios to default like the version the laptop came with?

  • @bl00d4ever i doubt that very much, it seems the bios update was not succesfull, you either have to revert to an earlier version (if you backed it up) or try updating it again.

  • @napisr Cant it dosent turn on just a black screen.

  • @bl00d4ever i assume the power to the laptop is working?

If so then i would say the bios update has failed totally, you could try do as in the video, this will totally reset the bios, but this also depends if the bios has an internal backup which some do. If this fails then i'm afraid you will need a new bios chip, which are not that expensive just be careful when taking the old one out and putting the new one in. You will need a tool to remove the bios chip again not expensive.

  • @bl00d4ever Your Bga chip(s) must be heatet up with a storm ligther or so, disconnect the motherboard and heat the 2 Nvidia chip inside,. and then it should work :) Its A Plague DV series Has been born with :D

  • This will NOT work if you have SUPERVISOR password ON. It only works for Power ON password.

  • all I reccomend is just get a new HD and reinstall windows and you'll be fine.

  • @mxims96 how would that help if the bios was password protected, simple answer it wouldnt. you would still need to by pass the bios password to reinstall.

  • jajaja

    lie

  • one more Way to fix you hp dv2000/6000/9000

Hold the power button for 60 sec

  • i'm glad it worked out for you ;)

  • will it work on a dv4000 laptop?

  • i speak English because i am English.

basicly, remove the power lead from the battery for 5 minutes or so, remembering to remove the main battery first.

Reconnect lead and the bios should be unlocked, this worked on the hpdv6000 of mine first time.

  • will it work for the dv6500 series?

  • only way to find out is to try it. woest can happen it will reset the bios to defaults, which is easily fixed.

  • I cant Understan if you are speaking English.... and i didnt get how to reset it all you talked about was the memory sticks and a cable you hooked up to the battery....
