  • the older i get the tougher it hits me i miss him he was a hero

  • I was at home when that happened. I remember it. I was going to be 11 in June. I'm almost 21 now. I remember coming out of my room to watch the end of the race with my family over thew TV. I wish I hadn't though. I'm never going to be able to forget that, not as long as I live. I got hooked on NASCAR because the first race I ever watched, Dale Sr. won. I can't remember which one it was though. He still is my childhood hero. That's why this effects me so much.

R.I.P Dale. We'll never forget you.

  • We will forever miss you

You will always be our #1 fan

You are in our hearts forever

You leave behind millions of fans

There will never be another Dale Earnhardt

We will ALWAYS remember the famous black #3

We will ALWAYS remember "The Intimidator", and

    We will ALWAYS remember you!

    R.I.P Dale Earnhardt 1951-2001

  • I was 5 when he died and i am 14 now, that is the only thing i remember from that year. RIP Intimidator

  • i was only 5 when he passed away. i remember not knowing what happened, but seeing my mom start to cry and my dad cry even...i knew that something bad had happened. now looking back, i really hate knowing that he's gone. racing's changed without the "3" raising hell.

  • nascar hasnt been the same since his death

  • when I think about the tragedy that losing him meant... I realized that he wouldn't have wanted to die any other way... he was born to race... and he died racing... a fitting death... no matter how sad

  • man i miss watching dale race, the sport lost a legend just like when aryton senna died during a F1 race

  • what happen his neck snapped on impact and was taking to the hosipal but pass away at 5:16 with his wife at his side when he died

  • thank you.

  • I'm from Brazil and, as you know, we love speed (Fittipaldi, Senna, Piquet and others). Here we don't watch Nascar on tv but I've heard about Dale Earnhardt Sr. Watching the chash video I did'nt understand why he died, because he left the car walking on. Anybody knows what happened (what kind of injuries) with him? Anyway, I feel sorry for this great champion. (excuses for my bad english). Thanks

  • I Was born into a Nascar loving family. as a little boy i was brainwashed into loving Dale Sr. I wanted to paint the house black with a huge white number 3 on it. Now i plan on Getting my car re painted with a 3 on it. I will never stop loving Dale sr. And after 8 years i STILL find myself looking for the black number 3 just thinking maybe it was a dream. RIP Dale we miss you and love you. GOd Speed.

  • the best ever in nascar better petty

  • I must say TRAVY27 don't you see they had to use the Jaws of Life to get him out of the car so that is why the top is messed up.

  • I remember watching the race and i was 10 at the time and i just killed me to see my hero die

  • @alexzanderpickel i under stand that he was my hero to

  • @alexzanderpickel I was the same age, haven't been interested in racing since that day!!

  • @alexzanderpickel yea bro i was 12 at the time and its still wierd to think about but wow what a legend, I'm just glad to get to see him win that Daytona in 1998, I still get goose bumps when I watch him taking that drive to victory lane giving all those high 5's

  • Dale Sr was kicking Jeff

    RIP dale sr

  • in 3:01 it shows the car from the acual crash in 2001 when dale died lap 199 home strech we all miss hime once remembered always remebered the #3 will go on for ever

  • It took me a while to understand how Earnhardt died from the wreck when i started watching NASCAR in 2003. My conclusion was that he got whiplash when he slammed in to the wall because of the way the car swerved, and that could've been possible since he didn't have the HANS device on when he died

  • srry to tell you but your wrong when he hit the wall his neck snapped in half and died. he did get wiplash or none of that i was at the daytona500 in 2001.

  • Did Dale Sr. finish the 2001 Daytona 500, or was he & Ken Schrader credited w/ being a lap down? I'm just asking because he wrecked in the LAST turn on the LAST lap. And i want to know, b/c if he did finish the race, that would've been good because his last race, he would've raced to the very end.

  • geez thats 5 out of five tributes i watched today all made me cry He is an inspiration to me He is truly the one that brought people to The seats I started Racing go karts after he died I feal sorry for jr tho i know how it is to loose a hero and youre dad my dad died in 2000 just like me he was a huge Dale E fan RIP Dale Youre the best noone will ever change that

  • i saw the race on tv never thinking dale was gone then mike helton uttered those horrible horrible words we lost dale earnhardt. I felt bad for his son Jr. god blessed him with tons of memories.

  • Great vid man, i remember watching that race on TV in 01'

  • me too,i was thinking that Dale Jr or Dale Sr. was going to win, then Sr. was up into the wall collecting schrader,it changed NASCAR history

When i saw the replay on the camera of Earnhardt,he got loose and smack into the wall,it was black on the camera,I cannot know what the hell was going on
