Where this song came from, since people asked me: A girl named Jackie Dawson from Needham came to talk with me after school in 1980...her parents were going through a horrible divorce, and Jackie told me she would often dream of being trapped in her burning house. I didn't go home and think, "Great idea for a song..." I just was moved by her story. I remember the lyrics first just came pouring out, and even more strange, I remember then sitting at the piano and the music came from nowhere.
